Sad to see that most of flight reviews from North African airlines end up with so many negative points, especially about the lack of cleaning and cabin maintenance.
It’s the unfortunate truth at this point. I do hope the management can start to take some pride in their airlines with new airplanes and airports coming so that they can start a new chapter, as they have the culture and location to really offer a wonderful product

The joys of traveling. Equipment swapping does happen, and it either elevates your experience or forces you to throttle back on your expectations. Ultimately, comfort (discomfort), good (bad), superior (inferior), etc, are relative to the individual and a matter of definition - most notably when there is no choice in the matter.
The screen that you showed with the waypoints...is that an app that I can put on my phone, or is that a different system? I've ben looking for something like that for a while now. Thanks!
Excellent video If it right out Frankfurt Germany in Canadian French it's spelled as Francfort sur le Main which is where Air Canada 845 is coming from. Speaking of the air Algérie business class seat old version it is exactly the same as a Cathay Pacific 1990s Long Haul seat and the Regional Business class seats also Korean Air Prestige Class B737-9B5/ER pre retrofitted B777-300 like HL-7573 unless retrofitted to resemble the A321-271N. IFE screen is in your right armrest. I'm wondering which of the Legacy carriers in the United States still use this setup in the domestic fleet. US CBP Stamp is MTL for Aéroport Pierre Eliot Trudeau provided you went back to California from Montreal via Newark Airport. For Canadians go to Montreal Airport to Florida they would simply drive to the US border Plattsburgh,NY or Burlington, VT that way they can simply pay the domestic price. There are 2-2-2 business class seats are flatbed example of these in California are the Korean Air Airbus A380 services. Also 2-3-2 flat bed seats SFO/LAX PR Mabuhay Class Korean Air Prestige Class B777-3B5/ER sleeper seats.
Yikes, that 'old' business class is something you would have seen 20 years ago (as airlines were moving to flat beds) - it's quite sad how some countries don't take pride in their state-owned airlines. The lack of cleanliness is revolting.
Hey, very interesting video! Hopefully they start flying their newer wide bodies on this route soon. I would have been upset too flying on the one you were on. Did you need to get a visa to fly to Algeria or did you just transit through Algiers?
I did need a visa for Algeria, but if you transit, then there’s no need. I would think once their new aircraft arrive, that we will see the upgraded product on this route… or at least I hope
J espère que la direction d air algerie visione la vidéo plusieurs fois pour avoir un petit peux de motivation pour le changement dans la bonne direction
have you previously taken air canada for the same destination. recently the air canada flight left 23 hours late, because the pilot had missed a connecting flight to reach algiers, and once airborne, the in-flight cathering service as well as the menu were deplorable compared to what air algerie offers
At least when you fly Air Canada you get acceptable service, clean cabin and good entertainment. I hope one day Air Algérie will stop being so terrible.
OK as in American Algerian here I cannot tell you how much Algeria pisses me off I flew in Algeria one time and I probably want to go back ever again they are just bad but hopefully with the new airplanes they will be better. I’m willing to give them another chance in the future, I prefer to fly Delta with a stopover in Paris, I definitely understand your frustration and I thank you for making this video to bring awareness to the problem
This was an extremely informative video , the plane was in a deplorable, unsanitary, and in extreme disrepair. The worst parts for me were the following: 1. The absolute filth , the tray table & where it was housed, the stench of said tray table. The floor that was home to the cockroach. The bugs in between the glass of the window. Which for me , calls in question, the ability of the cabin to remain pressurized ( correct me if I’m wrong) . 2. The worn & disrepair of the cabin. The lack of air vents , overheating in the seat ( on such a long flight) , The broken foot rest, and tray. 3. The inattentive nature of the cabin crew, were they too busy relaxing to attend to the passengers? The lack of communication by the pilot & crew. 4. The food was very disappointing, and unappetizing. Did you later get food poisoning? Overall, I would definitely avoid that flight, possibly the airline. Given the fact, that the crew was so inattentive, and prioritized socializing with each other ( on your Montreal flight back to Algiers ) . New equipment won’t correct that. Great video, very informative, I look forward to your next flight video.
1. Air Algerie's planes are always so dirty and It's clear that this is the worst point for Air Algerie. Even though they are less dirty in newer cabin, they remain disgusting. 3. Cabin crew with Air Algérie are usually unconsistent. Sometime you find an amazing crew that just make the flight look amazing, other time you find horrible person that just should not be working with human being. 4. Even if the food don't look great in this specific flight, it is usually one of the great thing for Air Algérie. Moreover, no matter what, the food is always clean and don't forget that Air Algerie catering also make the food for Emirates or Qatar, so they have potential. The government of Algeria is saying that they want to improve quickly the airline, which they haven't started yet in the service. However, the pre-pandemic economy with Air Algerie was great and Business class was bad and that is because it used to be a family company.
This is what happens where people working in those planes (and for the company as a whole) are hired based on accountaince and not on skills and competence.
That is exactly the problem. Air Algerie jobs are among the most demanded and they go for connected people with no skills. Not only they have no skills, they also feel protected and can't be disciplined. Same issue for all big government owned companies, and that is why they run a deficit almost all the time.
As Algerian myself I ceased to travel with Air Algerie since 2010 for the exact same reasons you showcased in your video. At least you landed in Montreal safe and sound. Furthermore I don't think new fleets for AA will change anything for the very simple fact hygiene is cultural. I bet you might have seen a lot despicable things during your visit in that country. An airline and Airport reflect an image of the country. Unfortunately Algeria failed very badly for that matter.
I actually quite enjoyed my time in the country, but I am nervous for the fate of the new fleet. Although I of course will hope for the best, and would love to return to Algeria to try the new aircraft when they arrive (maybe before they get dirty 🤣)
@@PatrickSheaAviation hi Patrick, I'm glad that you've spent good times in Algeria, as far as the new fleet is concerned. I can tell you right now, it is gonna look pretty similar after couple of years in service, mainly due to lack of sense of urgency and competitiveness. Truth be told. But i hope I will be proven wrong. I hope also despite the disappointment in the airliner you will continue to come back to Algeria, a beautiful and generous country without doubt. Many thanks for the objective review👍🖐
I remember - I flew to Oran in 1987 , with a Boing 737- 200 . Oh dear ..no one spoke english. Only arab and french. I was 21 years old and going to visit my algerian boyfreind...❤ in Oran .
Excellent coverage. I never flew with Air Algérie business class nor have I ever been on such a long flight, but I'm actually quite surprised that besides the seat size, there is pretty much no difference between Air Algérie business class and economy. I'm pretty sure even the meal is the same. How much did you pay for this ticket?
The people mover is actually called a mobile lounge. Aside from Dulles, CDG also had such large people movers for a long time, though I don't see them these days in any of the videos on TH-cam. Great video, I'm liking your content. Nice work!
And, just like that, Ethiopian economy from Buenos Aires looks like a lavish excursion. The state of that cabin!! The mere fact that you ate what they served you in there... Sadly, I experience flights like this regularly travelling through Africa, India and China. And, however long these flights are, I usually keep my hands firmly in my pockets let alone have a meal. Having said that, your trainers have seen better days.
As an Algerian traveler , I’m using Air Algérie most of the time .. and I can relate to your video and experience, but I can truly say that it’s dépends, sometimes you have also flight with planes much much cleaner and with plate much tasty . You had a pretty tough experience I can see, but trust me air Algérie worth better than that …
They work so much better on their new A330-200, I recently flew on there and the quality compared was so much better, it was clean, food wasn’t cold and it was really enjoyable
Dirt has nothing to do with plane models. Algeria is ruled by a corrupt military junta and they use Air Algerie as a way to hire their relatives and pay them with hard currency. This airline has the worst crash record in North-Africa. Flying with them is a big act of courage.
I only managed to watch 9 minutes of the video so far, YIKES! This was rough. No IFE for a 12 hour flight. I'm shocked, don't know why anyone would book to go on this. Thanks for trying it, I'll be sure to avoid.
Hi Patrick what a disappointing and frustrating conditions you gone thru your Air Algerie long haul flight. I'm Algerian and never jump on Air Algerie flights when heading overseas coz deeply in my mind and in prior I know what disappointments I definitively will face if not aircraft interior conditions it will be flight attendents attitude and arrogance and food quality service. Air Algerie allows these disappointing situations with firm intention to strenghthen and root frustration into passengers bodies and minds. All Algerians are well familiar and hitorically experienced with Air Algerie service quality turbulances. Good luck.
Oh yes! But unfortunately nothing happened with them on this flight. I was hoping to at least be able to listen in to ATC… I do miss when that was a normal thing you could do with these buttons
I remember that “IFE” in AVIANCA’s 90’s 767s. They even played movies in the bulkhead TVs! You could use the headphones to listen to the audio from the movies or change the channel to music by genres (In a pre-set, no skipping!) 😂
Air Algérie ordered many brand new A350-1000 and A330neo aircrafts to renew its long haul flights fleet and also 737-9 max for short flights , so we expect much better in the future for sure…however they should have definitely refurbished the current fleet in the meantime, I mean it’s still operating!!!
Those headphones are actually used for the “music” channels. I remember AVIANCA’s 767s in the 90s using this system. They even play movies on the bulkhead TVs! 😂
I came 5 days ago on your seats 3A 7T VJV and I am totally agree with you , I do this flight 5 time a year and It is always the same aircraft coming and going to algeria , the new one it is only for CDG, PKX, DXB.... I feel shame for my country because I know that they can do better, hope for the best but your video is excellent and objective.
As an algerian I am ashamed to see this. We can find excuses for many things but not for a disgusting dirty cabin. I hope one day my people will no longer have to be ashamed by their airline. However, your video was really good and respectful even though you were not respected by this airline. Are you going to post your Montreal-Algiers flight?
I didn’t film any content on that flight, just because I was trying to sleep the whole time. I definitely want to try Air Algerie once the new aircraft arrive next year. Hopefully they can sort out some of the mess and the new fleet can mark a new chapter for the airline and the country. I’m excited to try that out soon!

As someone who works inflight catering (and an avid aviation fan who loves air travel), I guess I can safely say that the plane isn't as sanitised as it could have been 🥲 And as for the meal service, the tray set-up and main course didn't really look as pleasing as I expected for a business class flight. Awesome video, nevertheless. :)
After he said a roach ran across his feet I screamed 😂 thats absolutely disgusting. They need to use their updated 330 for that route....false advertising

Nice footage! It's my first time running into your channel. Your video could really benefit form a higher quality microphone for the voice-over; there's quite a bit of echo. A simple, dynamic USB mic could be a great solution for you! Or you could record in an environment with more soft surfaces.

Unfortunately you’re only as good as your weakest link, so until the airline can fix their deeper problems it will be tough to have a comparable product. I do commend them on having a long haul aviation market, which most countries struggle with, I just wish them the best in improving the whole product for when I do come back out to try it again in the future

I only had a short domestic flight on an Air Algerie ATR72. You are right, the cabin is not spotlessly clean, and the ATR72 was quite old. There was not even a cup of coffee available, but on a one-hour flight it is not so important. But the flight still was better than an eight-hour car ride on the way back!
I think that was one of the 2005 a330s, cuz Air Algérie has 5 old ones and 3 newer a330s delivered in 2015, with 251 seats and 20 of them business class seats 💺, but the a330 neos and a350s coming in few years, we'll hop up a bit, but don't worry, even these old cabins are about to be changed, like the 5 737-600s that already started
It doesn't matter. If the horrible crew members don't get fired, Air Algérie will sadly remain trash. Today aug 4 I took the same flight and the crew was awful, just 3 crew members were working, the pilot was insulting passengers. I still hope one day this company at least gets better.

What did you expect from Air Algerie? Seriously are you mad. You do realise how corrupted this place is in the first place. And the crew can easily alternate the cabin temp. The overhead air flow isn’t air conditioning, it’s just air flow. Try RAM next time could be OK. Did you expect the crew to explain anything to them. You have to understand Algeria as a whole mate
Another great review. I love your style and tone. I think when we travel as much as you you do we are sometimes spoilt with the service in premium cabins on some airlines. I too would be disappointed with the first meal it looked dry and bland but the pre arrival meal looked OK ish.. Seat wise being 6ft6 Id have taken its got to be better than economy view for width and legroom but I fully see how you can be disappointed with the cleanliness and shabby old/tired cabin. Have you tried Icelandair's Business class product across the pond? Its Premium Economy Plus id say price wise and service wise with a comfy business class seat, decent lounge in Iceland and free stopover programme on US-Europe Itinenaries
Air Algerie is not the best airline in the world but the plains that covers long hall flight are usually in a very good shape . The staff are very friendly and the pilots are very professional and competent. Clearly you don’t make a difference between business and fist class. I mean Air Algerie may have some good things going for it, but for one of their longest flights to have an offering like this in Business Class is laughably horrible. I know they have new planes arriving, so we can just hope they fix their issues with those
I would have NOT been happy - I went to look at prices and it’s about $1100 one way, about the price of an economy plus which is what that looked like….from 1992. 9 hours is a long ass flight in those seats. Better to just buy three seats in coach and spread out.

@@PatrickSheaAviation thanks!

Algerian here. I admit our airline is shitty 💀
Ha! I’m holding out hope that the new fleet order arriving soon will bring a new look to the airline!
Thank you for the constructive review. I hope that Air Algerie management will sit down, watch this and take notes to fix this messy Airline.
have you previously taken air canada for the same destination.
recently the air canada flight left 23 hours late, because the pilot had missed a connecting flight to reach algiers, and once airborne, the in-flight cathering service as well as the menu were deplorable
compared to what air algerie offers
That sounds horrible! But it is understandable as it’s not the easiest airport to get to, comparatively to other airports nearby
At least when you fly Air Canada you get acceptable service, clean cabin and good entertainment. I hope one day Air Algérie will stop being so terrible.
Thanks for this objective review & for flying this plane/route so we don't have to.
Thanks!
Algeria .never 😊
I would like to know how much the cost .please thx
OK as in American Algerian here I cannot tell you how much Algeria pisses me off I flew in Algeria one time and I probably want to go back ever again they are just bad but hopefully with the new airplanes they will be better. I’m willing to give them another chance in the future, I prefer to fly Delta with a stopover in Paris, I definitely understand your frustration and I thank you for making this video to bring awareness to the problem
I would have walked off the flight before it left. You are a better person than me
I had to give them a fair shot at least 🤷♂️😂
Wow! I bet there's worse. Relax
This was an extremely informative video , the plane was in a deplorable, unsanitary, and in extreme disrepair.
The worst parts for me were the following:
These are all great points! Luckily no food poisoning for me. Now we stay waiting for the new aircraft and see if things get better 🤞
I think you are a much nicer person than I am. I would have been really mad to have to fly that distance in those seats and not have a bed.
+ the crew is catastrophic. The worst people you will see if traveling to Algeria are air algerie crew members.

Good notes! This flight was around $800
As soon as Emirates started flying to Algiers from Dubai, my family and I directly started going on it since air algeire was bad
The people mover is actually called a mobile lounge. Aside from Dulles, CDG also had such large people movers for a long time, though I don't see them these days in any of the videos on TH-cam.

Good luck.
That’s unfortunate. I would love to come back and try their new airplanes when they arrive in a year or two since I did enjoy my time in Algiers
The crew is definitely the worse in this trash airline
The buttons on the armchair was (before IFE) used to control different music chanels. That was the only onboard entertainment 😊
Would really love to know what that app you use is
ForeFlight. I use it for my own flying… but it works here too
Air Algérie ordered many brand new A350-1000 and A330neo aircrafts to renew its long haul flights fleet and also 737-9 max for short flights , so we expect much better in the future for sure…however they should have definitely refurbished the current fleet in the meantime, I mean it’s still operating!!!

I only had a short domestic flight on an Air Algerie ATR72. You are right, the cabin is not spotlessly clean, and the ATR72 was quite old.
