They tried to push them for a while, but I guess they ultimately realized that they just COULDN'T make candy colors and big asses look cool, and just gave up. To be fair, though, this WAS probably the Paradigm Daleks' best video game portrayal.
I think the problem is that when you line them up together, it's hard to take them seriously. However, if you see a room full of red Dalek drones with one or two blue strategists around being monitored by a white Supreme Dalek, it could look cool. Anyone who's seem the Peter Cushing Dalek movies will know that the Daleks in those look gorgeous compared to the show's (if you ignore the fire extinguisher "lasers") and that's what the new ones are based on. But I think the reason why they worked is because you'd only see one or two colours in a room at a time, rather than having the room look like someone spilt their bag of Skittles! lol
Russell Tietjen Heh, pretty much. Red, blue and white work well for Daleks, but I fail to comprehend why they had bright yellow and orange ones. The colors weren't my problem, though: Like you said, the Movie Daleks pulled it off well, and the Paradigms did become more credible after they repainted them in metallic colors. What I didn't like about the Paradigm Daleks was that their proportions were all off: The skirt section looked enormous compared to the tiny head, and... why did they feel the need to give the Daleks such large rear ends? I'm glad they returned to the bronze Daleks as the standard model, though I wonder if we could maybe get the best of both worlds in the future, and get RTD-style Daleks with color-coded hierarchy?
Apparently the yellow one was meant to be "The Eternal Dalek" and Moffat was planning on writing a story for that when he got around to it, but it never happened because everyone hated the new Daleks. And the orange ones were scientists, which I could imagine a collective of in one room. I just used the red, white and blue ones as an example. Also, *SALUTES*. As for the sizing thing, they were designed to be eye-level with Matt Smith, but the big booty (which was supposed to have a cannon inside but, again, never got to see the light of day because of the fans) does look weird. Personally, I didn't mind the new models and would have liked to see them in a bit more action. Also, the RTD Daleks did kinda have a hierarchy, you had the standard bronze ones, the Emperor's guard with black heads, Dalek Sec being a sort of Dalek Supreme and the red Supreme Dalek from Journey's End (which I think looked a bit OTT with 3 headlights and those weird clamp things)

I also never got why they made the Scientists bright orange - it's not a very scientist-y color, is it? I have no problem at all with the Daleks being taller (in fact, I think it would make them more intimidating if they scaled up the bronze Daleks), but the proportional changes made them look more inflated than taller. If they had kept the Dalek proportions, the Paradigm might have worked. Also, I don't see why they had to have a hatch sticking out; they could have just had the skirt panels of the case open up to deploy the cannon.
I'd kinda like to see the paradigm return in the new show, since they dulled the colors of the Strategist and Drone in Asylum, they could do something similar to that for the scientist and eternal. Make them less bright, maybe give them a relatively different voice pitch, and with the right writing, you could have a pretty decent story with these daleks.
Huh. Jeez, I'm from Texas, and I'm sure I could've pulled off a better Dalek voice than that. I wonder what Nick Briggs was busy with at the time of recording for this game.
well I mean the voice modification is pretty easy for the Cybermen. It's a uniform voice modifier. And the silence sort of whisper and make clicky sounds, but the Daleks it's just more noticeable.
