Glad you mentioned the tire stand when you did and gave the info on it. 👍🏻 I was seconds away from heading to the comments to ask about it. Nice video 🤙🏻
A great swap, better engine, tranny with overdrive and one of the coolest 4x4s ever made. Congrats to the two of you . Also realized I was your 300th sub. Cheers from Canada.
Glad to see someone giving the Ramcharger it's well-deserved attention!! I have an 88 Royal SE and have considered this swap (also considered LS swap, don't shoot). This video earned you another sub!
Sweet truck! What you did are the two things i always wanted to do to my mom's 86 RC 360. I wanted to modernize it to EFI because the old factory quadrajet the truck came with was getting tired and getting harder abd harder to find soneone that would actually rebuild it. An overdrive was the otherthing i wanted to do because that 727 had the ol 360 screaming at highway speed and the truck got 8-10 mpg regardless of city or highway driving. Unfortunately we had to let it go a few years back for financial reasons...big mistake.
Freakin' love those ramchargers... Always brings back memories to Lone Wolf McQuade, what a great flick! Yours is the right vintage too, 81-85 look very similar to the 81 or 82 that was in the movie. Finding a 4x4 is going to be a challenge though, they either go for way too much or are absolutely roached.
You're not wrong sir, the value on these things stays on a steady climb. We love this thing even though it can be a real headache at times...we're glad to have ya on board!!...stay with us to see what with it in the future!!
Keeping in mind these things have the aerodynamics of an apartment building it's not astronomical...but by the math -with- the OD we're seeing 16-18mpg
@@hancockga That is astronomical - that's about a 33 - 50% increase in mpg from stock! Wow. That is huge. 18 mpg puts as better rated than a late 90's 2wd durango, 14/17 mpg
I have a 1984 dodge dually, with a 440. I do have the hyperspark ready to run distributor along with the sniper efi. The distributor isn't providing any spark. Do you have a recommended good ignition source to use?
The 727 that came original to the truck & the 208 transfer case is what we pulled out. OD is being controlled by a combination of an adjustable fuel pressure safety switch & a vacuum operated switch wired in series.
We opened up 2 holes on the T-case support brace, drilled 2 new holes in the frame for a crossmember & it went in no problem! Got the driveshafts sorted out, did some quick wiring & it's money.
The OD swap was wayyyy easier than we thought it was gonna be...oddly enough, it was easier than the OD swap I did to our 440 powered 2wd shortbed...you'll see that soon!
Had my '86 for fifteen years now. Just stuck a stroker kit in the 360 for 410 ci and mating it to an 8HP70 8spd from a 2015 pickup.

Thank ya! These things make workin on this thing wayyy easier

Very much appreciate that sir, and congrats on being our 300th!!
@@hancockga and in under an hour up to 303, keep up the great content

We're glad to have ya on board sir! We've got a lot more planned for our boxy 4X4...stay with us & please keep your 88 powered by Mother Mopar!
I went the NV4500 route in mine. Dana 300 T-case. Ditched the 727/203 combo.
This is my next project once I get the engine back together.
You guys make me think I can do more to my truck than I really can. Lololol thank you for this!
You're welcome lol!! What kind of truck do you have?

Sweet ride I just got my wife an 86 ramcharger 2wd
We appreciate that Mr Cook!
Nice job.
Thanks Mr Dailey!
What gas mileage were you getting roughly? Looking into Sniper swapping my 1990 RAMCHARGER 318/A518

@@hancockga better than my 05 titan haha, pretty good deal I think
Any idea about what mpg you were getting before swapping to the OD transmission? I’ve got an 87 D150 and I’m curious how it all compares.

A RTR dizz and hyperspark are 2 different models IIRC... Check to make sure your dizz has 12v + while cranking, that's often overlooked.
What trans did you have before and how are you controlling the OD???

@@hancockgado you have a diagram on how you did this?
tire size ,, gearz , ? motor ci , and how much drive on fwv,,,?
31X10.5X15, 3:21, 318" and what?
Ok I'm turning this video off and going to work on my Dodge D100.
Just added a 85 D150 to my 79 Ramcharger and 72 Duster.
Is that a 46RH? If so what did you do to get unit to work?
A518 (46RH) We didn't cover it real well but we're using an adjustable fuel pressure safety cutoff & a vacuum operated switch to control the OD
So it just goes in? I'm going to do the same on my w100
