I was at Edgewater Park in Cleveland with some friends one summer afternoon in 1973. We were walking the trail by the parking lot and heard knocking and a muffled cry coming from somewhere. We took time to search for the sound, and narrowed it down to one car. We knew someone was in the trunk. While one person went to get a park policeman, we kept reassuring the man that help was coming. When the police came and broke the trunk open, we found a man in his early twenties, with duct tape all around his head, wrists, and ankles. He could do nothing to help himself. The police freed him and he was able to stand and walk until the ambulance arrived. I will never forget the terror on his face as long as I live. To this day I am so glad we looked for that sound. Take a minute. You might just be the one to save a life one day. If you ever end up in a trunk, there is usually a latch under the hood lining that will open it up. Rip the lining and pull the latch if possible, Kick the lights out. Use anything you can find to pry at the hood, but try. Do anything you can to bring attention to the car. Do what you can to help your heroes find you, and thank God everyday for the heroes that are out there to help us.

Oh cmon anybody today would call the cops if they saw a hand sticking out of a trunk these days shut up
I've always remembered from this kind of story, if you ever are in a trunk, bust out a taillight if the trunk doesn't have a release button anywhere. Find something in the trunk, or with your foot kick it til you can stick a finger or your hand out and just keep wiggling and waving!!!! Someone will call 911. Of course this story if truly a MIRACLE because it was way before 911 or cell phones. God bless the man and reporters and the news❤️🙏✝️

@@pretary1845 nice cliche. Not everyone had a cigarette at hand every goddamn second, in fact cigarettes were commonly smoked in places, and out on patios.

This time there was a sign, imagine all the times there wasn't
Yup, I've talked to a dude that had the killer vibe and he told me the easiest crime to commit is murder, ''just make sure your both alone and that they don't feel the need to tell someone where they're heading and you've got em'', is an almost direct quote from that conversation. 2 years down the line I hear he was brought in on murder charges because he tried (and failed) to slit a dudes throat in a bar bathroom. He was also accused of murders up to that point. Still makes me wonder ALOT of stuff.
No kidding huh
I believe something like only 10% of homicides are solved.
@@Nessal83 try more than 60 in America but that doesn't include wrongful conviction which is valid whole separate thing in itself

Glad they found him and got him out. Reminds me of an incident that happened earlier this year where a 24 year old girl was kidnapped and seen waving from a broken taillight of a car by a truck driver.
I just realized that there wasn’t any cellphones. So they had to stop at a pay phone. Lord jesus
News vehicles had two way radios or CB's and police scanners at that time
Cars would have floor phones. You could plug 🔌 it in to the cigarette holder.
@@justenzo6342 what is a floor phone? Yeah people don't realize but "car phones" have been around since oh I don't know for sure without checking ,but at least the 50's. They were like a 2 way radio , but there was a relay person in the middle .
Earl Wright It like a phone that comes with your car when you buy it and it plugs into your cigarette lighter. My mom had one in her first car. A Honda CRX.

Car manufacturers now strength their trunks in such a way that this event could never happen again. The metal was so thin and hinges prone to loosen.
Yes, but car manufacturers today also put in a latch to open the trunk from the inside.

Or being buried alive... jeeeesssuus
@@earthsgard
Only 2 have been buried alive, but that was just in a movie called Casino, not real life.
Back in the day? Lots. I'm from Newark, NJ and I love talking to older people from "back in the day". You'd be surprised how many stories I've heard about "bodies being buried in the basement". So from what I gather a lot of mob owned bars buried people in their basements and would just cover it up with cement. The cops would be on the payroll and even if they weren't what better place to stash bodies than your own public establishment. Who's gonna look there right under everyone's noses.

this is when reporters and journalists actually made a difference and werent complete puppets.
Totally agree with you on that.
The people you’re talking about aren’t reporters, journalist or anything that resemble that
They are politicians just haven’t run for office
If you want good journalism, you need to support it.
@Jonathan Devereaux they are practicing good journalism, you just aren't paying for it so you don't get access.
@Jonathan Devereaux you think there are no journalists out there who are worth your attention? So ignorant. Don’t act like you care about truth if you don’t care enough to seek it out
Considering they had no cell phones I consider this a miracle.
How considerate of you. 😅
there was at least 1 public phone on every street corner in those days. Also emergency phone call boxes that had a direct connection to fire/police.
The loose tolerances in cars back then made this possible. In a modern car you'd never be able to slip a hand out of a closed trunk.
