  • How can we tell the difference between permutation and combination? This is a video that has been asked for by many many people. I hope I did a better job of explaining. It is the longest video I have ever produced and was a week in the making....

i love how you try to give a more intuitive feel to this and resist using formulas straight away.Thank you! It's exactly how i would like to approach something like this.

Thanks, well I think most people including myself do not understand it very well if we go straight to a formula. It is easier to think about fundamentally if we resist plug and chug. And calculus videos plus more are coming, but I am having technical difficulties with my equipment right now.

Everyone kept telling me perm has order comb has no order over and over again but it was so confusing while doing these questions. If someone told me before like you did that in perm there is rank, or basically a difference and in comb there isn't any, I would've saved hours. Thank you

Bro thank you so much. The whole bracket thing was always so confusing to me. You really explained it in a way that I could understand. Thank you. Edit: Also I know how to solve a Rubik's cube which involves a lot of permutation. And I never actually understood why there were 43 quintillion combinations on the Rubik's cube. But now I do. By the way, I average 12 seconds and for the longest time still didn't understand how it worked. but now I know the laws of permutation vs combination. and the fact that during the 2nd layer, you use combination and not permutation.

11:09 why permutations matter & why order matters, proven formula
12:30 why combinations matter & why order sometimes does not matter, proven formula. why we divide by the number of pooling options, because it leaves us with no repeats. This is also why it is mathematically logical to divide by k!; it presents the amount of ways to arrange those possibilities.
