Somehow I think the reason Miranda let Ethan wander around, because she wants Ethan to eliminate all her childern. Bcs first she already aware of Heisenberg betrayal and she can't deal it herself, second bcs if Eva her real daughter really reborn other devoted childern like Donna will envy her and probably take an extreme step to murder Eva to win back Miranda's hearth. Thats why when all of the lords die, Miranda finaly reveal herself to Ethan
I just thought something too, what if The Duke working together with Miranda for this plan and work to observe Ethan behaviour and keep him on track the whole time. Bcs he was the one who introduce the 4 lords and mark them as Ethan enemy (by saying they had rose body) without mentioning Miranda. Even he was the one who shows Ethan where to put those Rose body part (And undirectly makes Ethan complete the ceremony who he tries hard to mess up)
I also thought that too maybe its a bit a strech but, somehow they're agreement was broken. My theory was because Miranda kills Ethan. If Im not mistaken The Duke was friendly with the villagers and he the one provide information of the outer worlds for them. So my theory is The Duke agree to use Ethan as a weapon to kill other lord if she spare Ethan life or much more Winther's family life, including Mia and Rose aka Eva. (he also gained profit for all of those crystal and hidden treasure laying around) But Miranda found Ethan worth much more for the trouble and killed him, therefore broke the agreement. Bcs of that The Duke who saw all of Ethan regeneration ability bring him right to Miranda. I mean if he really that kind to Ethan he can just pinpoint Miranda's place and finish the game much sooner
Theres many reasons why Miranda did what she did in manipulating Ethan. She also did it because she wants to get rid of the failed experiments that were failed hosts for Eve's new body. She can't just outright kill them but using Ethan to do it otherwise like you said. There is a multifaceted plan and reason why Mirand did what she did in manipulating Ethan. Theres just sooo many reasons why she did it lol.
One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention is the fact that Eva was never infected so she wasn't recorded by the megamysete, meaning that it was impossible for Miranda to revive her daughter. This likely means she was just being used, I'm going to guess that there will be another twist in RE9 like the Ethan was dead all along one in 8. It'll be the ceremony was actually successful and Rose was left alive because the megamysete will be able to spread itself using her. I think this is why the guy at the end calls her Evaline, it's foreshadowing how she's actually a dangerous BOW.
The Megamycete has a record of knowledge that goes back centuries possibly since dawn of time. Regardless of infection or not. That is how Miranda knows too much without possibly going to any formal education. Question is, how deep the Megamycete reach? Is it just in that part of the world (Eastern Europe)? Or has roots all over the planet?
There's no guarantees that being impregnated by Ethan would make the "perfect vessel", not to mention that, since Rose was fitting to be a vessel, why not use her instead of betting on another "maybe"?
Religion kills. Hahah but yiah she formed a cult and thought a virus was a gift and a spell would bring her back a daughter when spirits aren't what cause any of the things they have or do. If I had to guess she believed terring rose apart would empty her vessel and so she can put her daughters spirit in but in reality it's the same baby and the fact rose had regenerate powers is why she can survive being torn apart the rest is just her wasting her power putting her back together when she unnecessarily tore her apart believing in her spirituality.
I'm actually happy that a main character actually "dies" since there's was no way Ethan survived the bakers house w/o any help so the revaluation of his death makes soooo much more sense.
What if no body really die? their mind just stored in megamycete same as when Ethan met Jack Baker in the mind back in RE7 and learn what really happened to Baker. And now the Megamycete just turned into a girls named "Rose" a human/mold hybrid with a power greater than "Evaline" a hybrid human/mold bio-weapon. Because rose seem to knew everything what her dad like and done in the past even she never met him , might be because she can look into the megamycete database in her body same as how Miranda obtain intelligent from Megamycete?
Ethan may not actually be dead. As in the ending you see a figure walking towards that car. With the amazing help of awesome wicked smart people, it is shown to be Ethan’s character model. Are the devs lazy and just decided to put it there? Or is Ethan actually alive? Any possibility.

What about Lady Dimitrescu? Sure she was flawed but in the end what we see is not really her its the Cadou and the mold. All 3 made her into the monster we see she came to Mother Miranda looking for a cure for her family disease Porphyria. But like so many before her Mother Miranda used her and pretty much left her for dead.
Lady d enjoyed torturing the town’s population and would kill them in brutal ways for her entertainment, she had to do it but it doesn’t excuse her actions, and she could have obtained what she needed by more efficient and more ethical ways, but she went with murdering innocent people.

As a father of 3 kids, I can attest, this is normal parenthood for the most part. I once died after stepping on a bedroom floor full of Legos. It happens.
I wouldn’t be surprised. In the Daughters DLC for RE7 you saw Jack and the family more or less normal (except Lucas) but after the mold they all became deranged
So my own theory is that the Megamycete saw how venerable her mind was, that she was willing to end her own life grief-stricken by the death of her daughter and it drew her into the cave so it could corrupt her already fragile mental state. It giving her all that wisdom was it's own way to take a fragile mind and well make her evil. When the mold revived Ethan he already had such a strong mind it couldn't corrupt him, he was already determined to save his wife. I think it gave him knowledge of well everything he needed to survive and save his wife. It gave the knowledge that he wanted, (how to save his wife,) the same way it gave Mother Miranda the knowledge she wanted, (how to bring back her daughter.)
@@08fighter08 Also the Baker family was just way scarier. They look like almost normal people, just very disgusting, crazy and homicidal. Meanwhile, what do the four lords and Miranda look like? A giant early 1900s lady, a man with telekinetic powers who looks like he came from the wild west, a talking doll held by a woman wearing black, Quasimodo but fish, and a human with black wings. The four lords looked like a team of supervillains (not saying it's bad though, they're still greatly designed) while the Baker family looked more like something that you could encounter in real life (minus the mold).
I love the boss battle with her. The way she said “die” was so magical and the setting was beautiful. It made me believe I was there for a moment. Truly an amazing boss

The megamycete has EVE's memories like miranda said in her research with it. She only needs a body to implant Eve's memory back in the new body. Its like building a robot and uploading human memory to it.

Thats why shes searching for the perfect vessel to host Eva's memory/mind. That is how she gained so much knowledge as she connects to the megamycete because its a hivemind being.
Imagine if Ethan is the next main villain now that he's part of the molds greater concious. Rose will have to kill him while also seeing him normally in hallucinations .
I imagine another game but you play as Rose, and work toward killing Wesker once and for all (even though its been said he died in that volcano) something tells me otherwise. To cliche to kill a villain off in a volcano, also, the man survived nukes. But that aside, I feel like that would be a good way to slightly conclude this branch of the series, even if you dont get to fight as Rose I could see background fights of her and Wesker throwing each other through buildings and streets and the like. Also, The greatest Creation of Umbrella, Wesker vs. The greatest mold enhanced by Miranda, and conceived by Ethan and Mia, with Evelines Genome.
Rose is most likely next protagonist as hinted by game itself when they mention that "Father's story is now complete". But Wesker? Nah, dude is dead and gone .
An aspect that the two games do focus a lot on is family, everything being driven by family. Eveline wanting to make a family forming what happened in RE7, Ethan wanting to save his family for both RE7 and 8, the MegaMycthe recording everyone it takes in forming a communal "Family". It does form this idea that possibly what the mold fully develops is a continuous family of characters to make as its own. Even considering Miranda being made a "Mother" to the other infected, the lord's becoming childlike towards her in their own ways. Heisenberg being the rebellious kid. Alcina being the very devoted child who gets angry when the attention and care is not on her. Salvadore being the odd one out, the one who feels lonely and only can hope that Mother will care for them. Donna being a reminiscent one but also the kid who eggs on her siblings to fight so a new memory/family activity could be made.
The reason Miranda helped Ethan by leading him on and having him get the flasks from the lords isn't because she wanted to test him. In her boss fight she says he fulfilled his purpose by awakening the Megamycete and "killing her children". She had the lords keep the flasks so Ethan would have to defeat her children to obtain them. She wanted them all dead so she could be alone with Eva and used Ethan to do it.
I might be speculating a bit too much but many aspects of Miranda remind me of Morrigan, A Celtic shapeshifting goddess that was actually 3 sisters merged into one being, Heavily associated with the imagery of crows, A hag and a few other things that could be associated with RE 8, Funnily enough Miranda takes upon 3 women's forms during RE 8 which could credit my theory to some extent, I might be reaching a bit far but a lot of things just click.
When you take Miranda’s whole story into account it’s actually really sad, she’s just a grieving mother who couldn’t come to terms of her daughters death and was willing to do anything to get her back :( granted stealing a child from another family wasn’t the way to solve this but it’s still sad to think she just wanted her daughter back

Mother Miranda is a grieving mother overcome by power, she got too consumed by it that she basically neglected and abused her "fake children". Donna/Angie were traumatized even more by Miranda. Moreau wants Miranda to be his actual mother or at least let Miranda view Moreau as her child. Heisenberg didn't even want to be a monster-cyborg-creature thing and I'm not sure about Lady D. I'm not sympathizing w Miranda, but I think she should've taken better care of her fake children/vessels for Eva WAYYYY better then she did in the game.
She might be one of the most powerful characters in the RE series, if she fought with her full power (since her powers were leaving her during the boss fight) she could possibly infect the entire world, using the collective consciousness off all those infected to learn and become more volotile and dangerous.

He didn't tell him because he fears information might leak out to other organizations including Miranda. One of his team asked how did Miranda know of Rose's existence despite hiding them for 3 years. Someone suggested "one birdy mold" might have told her. There are loads of organizations that wanted a piece of Rose that even Chris is getting suspicious of the BSAA itself. Do note that only Chris and his rogue Blue Umbrella team rescued Ethan, Mia and Zoe so no one knew what really happened in RE7. Only when he realized that Ethan is truly a good guy despite being a BOW mold person that he regretted this decision.
Maybe the megamycete used Miranda the whole time to get rose and implant itself into her. I always wondered why Miranda was vulnerable at the end and why her powers suddenly left her and this would be an explanation for that. When Ethan was dead, he talked to Evelyn, wich in my opinion means that her mind is also like saved within the mold, thus Ethan and rosee wich would also explain this cutscene. Maybe this is also why Rose didnt turn into Eva
So Wesker then I assume, is Umbrella. Also, I really really think that a simple Bomb was not enough to destroy thr Megamycete, idk, something about the powers it gives to others makes me feel that it can easily remold itself whenever damaged or burned, so long as there is still a part left to it. It'd seem silly to think the powers Miranda had and Ethan as well, would not also be apart of the originator as well, much less the Baker father who literally would never stay dead.
It just hit me. We might not see the last of the Four Lords and Miranda. If the Megamycete definitely stored their conciousness, then this is not Miranda's last apperance. It would be interesting if she haunted Rose trying to convince her that she is her true parent. The ritual was completed so Rose may not be the same Rose prior but maybe even have Eva's infant mind in her as well?

I still believe that Ethan is alive and somehow the duke saved him twice. 1st from Miranda and 2nd is from explosion. We know the Duke is suspicious as how he run his business in Village without getting threatened by the other bosses or Mother Miranda. The Duke is mysterious and somehow has some weird power. maybe we'll see Ethan in RE9 as a side character that will help Rose in some serious situation.

It actually took me 4 playthoughs to realise that the old hag was actually Miranda egging us to take on the lords, which was to confirm her suspicious about Rose. I didnt notice the hag in the cutscene when Miranda kills Ethan.

From a biological standpoint, I don't understand why Miranda doesnt simply birth a child of her own. I would think her own children would have a better chance of being a suitable vessel for Eva. Maybe because Miranda is controls by this entity she isn't able to make logical decisions or understand simple genetics.
I think Megamycete is using her and making her desperate to revive her daughter with the thoughts of using megamycete's memory database even though her child, Eva died before getting infected of Spanish Flu
Anyone else kind of wish we had a timeline for when each of the Lords was experimented on and more about their lives beforehand? All we know is that Mother Miranda was infected/discovered the megamycete in later 1919 or early 1920 (as Eva died in August 1919 and that Miranda tried to die due to exposure, whether that be due to extreme cold or heat is up for debate), Lady D was 44 when it happened and that it was before 1958 (she was also still considered a noble while Donna was a step below nobility. The other two seemed to have lost theirs at some point in their ancestry considering they lived in a reservoir and factory compared to the castle and mansion of Lady D and Donna), and that Donna was infected after 1996 (as that is when Claudia died, who was most likely her daughter or younger sister) and that another relative of hers (possibly an aunt) was infected but died during the process (Bernadette B, died at 21). Edit: Changed Bernadette from being a sister to an aunt, as she died in the 1950s while Donna was likely born between 1966 and 1976
I think that the duke will have a much bigger role in any upcoming games or dlcs because he quite clearly wanted ethan to kill mother Miranda and the other lords but has never explained his motive and seems to be much more powerful than he looks
I see what they were going for with Mother Miranda. The four houses and lords are meant to represent different types of horror, the Dimitrescu House is slasher horror, House Beneviento is psychological horror, House Moreau is body horror, and finally House Heisenberg is industrial horror. However, Miranda represents the Cult Horror genre, a person or group worshipped with absolute authority and has total control over the village and even the lords that rule it. They believe she is a goddess, or a savior to them and do everything she asks, which can be unsettling as we see them praying to her and setting up shrines around the town in her honor and devotion. She also spurs parental fears of child abduction and kidnapping, a very real threat to almost every parent in the world, much more emphasized when she has a whole village doing her bidding and see it as the holy thing to do. Of course Lady D and the rest steal the show but I still think Miranda is a very ominous figure lurking in the game, with her crow imagery and seraphic features. Excellent character design as she looks the most normal out of all of them, yet she is the most monstrous and freakish as she will destroy anything in her way to get what she wants.
I just wish the game was longer. They could’ve done so much more with her character. Give us more boss battles with her like William from RE2. Since she’s a shapeshifter. Mother Miranda is now my favorite all time villain in the series.
It's clear Miranda wanted to be done with all of her 'children' and bring the Mold to it's maximum power, why else would she deliberately throw the four (and inadvertently herself) as bones to Ethan's lone wolf crusade
Miranda monster form is kinda beautiful she looks like a dark angel instead of a tentacle beast, she also reminds me of "the gazette DOGMA" album pochette (released in 2015)

I am very unsure if the hag was Miranda because she may have turned into her at the end, but she also turned into Mia and she was still alive. And when the hag talks about someone being almost dead, she probably ment Ethan but before Ethan kills Miranda she says “your body most certainly isn’t normal” implying that she didn’t know he was dead all along.
So the Megamycete stores all the memories of the people it absorbs, creating some sort of genetic memory for whomever controls the Megamycete... Okay so Rose is basically Leto Atreides the second then? The God Emperor of Dune himself?
From the ending with the strange figure walking besides the car. Is it possible that it is Ethan? Watching over his daughter from the world he was in after his "death"? When his heart was ripped out that is. Just a thought I've had. If Rose can truly control the mold better than anyone before her, why couldn't it be the case that she could bring back Ethan? We never see the Megamycete be fully destroyed, though that was a pretty large explosion. We know the mold itself is very tricky. Looking forward to future installments. :)

Yes, it IS Ethan's model. Though I doubt that's actually him. Most likely they wanted to portray that scene with some random guy walking the road, yet it wasn't worth the effort to face-scan and texture a whole 'nother character model(As the silhouette only appears once and you can't even see it properly). So they reused Ethan's model to save resources/time.
@@mike7DILFLUVR If it's Ethan's model, and the developers don't directly come out and say "this is his model but wasn't supposed to actually he him", then the obvious conclusion due to lack of opposing evidence is that it IS Ethan. Also the reasoning here is ridiculous - if they wanted a random person in the scene but didn't want to make a brand new model, why didn't they use any of the models of the villagers that died in the first part of the game? Or better yet, if they were determined to use that model, why not make slight alterations to the hair or skin colour to more clearly distinguish it from Ethan despite it being the same model? With the amount of detail they put into the game, I sincerely doubt they would be so lazy as to put the model of the past two games' most important character in the background of a very important scene without any real reason. Especially because they know people will mod and break the game to acquire more information and would eventually be able to see the model of Ethan being used in that scene.

She probably had intentions of making him a lord, but in the end she sees that he is not worthy as he just wants his daughter back. I think Mother Miranda could have just had another child. Miranda thought a mother's love though powerful, had no equal. That's why she failed because she underestimated a father's iron will to protect, defend, and persevere for the sake of his child.
Am I the only one blown away by how good that romanian pronunciation of Alcina and Cadou was. No character in the game pronunced either Cadou or Dimitrescu the right way but this was spot on
This story looks so much like bloodborne, i think RE8 writers got inspiration from BB since the story is similar in some situations like, the cadou curing some but transforming others in monsters and some having higher affinity transforming in stronger monsters like the old blood from Bloodborne and of course the resemblance of Heisenberg to a hunter of bloodborne with a boom hammer is so similar
its crazy how throughout the entire game they tease you with certain dialogue that basically tells you that Ethan isn't human, "how can a man be "almost" dead?"
So the way I'm looking at this is that Rose has the ability to absorb mycete matter. Anything she comes in contact that has to do with the molding is essentially a form of life for her. She can absorb it if she is injured or even use it as a weapon. I believe that if we play as her in the next game, then late in to the game we discover her power and have this sort of symbiote battle like in the venom movie. But again, not until really late in to the game. And of course, Chris Redfield will be explaining it and we'll probably run in to Ada Wong this time because this seems like way too good of an opportunity for a character like her. Who will probably be working in conjunction with Wesker's son. Just my thought

Most of the people always talk about how donna and Moreau have the most tragic backstory, but did you heard about the story of mother miranda. She tried to commit suicide because she loses her daughter because of the spanish flu and the reason why she became bad is because she only wanted to be reunited with her daughter and also, when miranda yelled " MY DAUGHTER !!!!! MY EVA!!!!!! " When she was about to die. It broke my heart, a mother's love for her child is immeasurable

You know, Chris could’ve told Ethan from the start and it would’ve saved him a lot of mental anguish and pain. Like Chris could’ve shot him a text and said “Hey dude, that’s not your wife, someone kidnapped her and took her place. We’re gonna take her out and quarantine you two for a bit, and with your cooperation you will all be safe.” Then Ethan would join them and never even lose Rose but no, Chris wanted to make a story I guess.

While I like Miranda I feel that the link between her and Spencer was ham fisted. Spencer was a megalomaniac who wished to become a God and issue in a new genesis. It seems highly unlikely that he wouldn't take the option for immortality so he could live to do this even if he disagreed with her ends he would still use her means.

I also thought that too maybe its a bit a strech but, somehow they're agreement was broken. My theory was because Miranda kills Ethan. If Im not mistaken The Duke was friendly with the villagers and he the one provide information of the outer worlds for them. So my theory is The Duke agree to use Ethan as a weapon to kill other lord if she spare Ethan life or much more Winther's family life, including Mia and Rose aka Eva. (he also gained profit for all of those crystal and hidden treasure laying around) But Miranda found Ethan worth much more for the trouble and killed him, therefore broke the agreement. Theres many reasons why Miranda did what she did in manipulating Ethan. She also did it because she wants to get rid of the failed experiments that were failed hosts for Eve's new body. She can't just outright kill them but using Ethan to do it otherwise like you said. There is a multifaceted plan and reason why Mirand did what she did in manipulating Ethan. Theres just sooo many reasons why she did it lol.
One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention is the fact that Eva was never infected so she wasn't recorded by the megamysete, meaning that it was impossible for Miranda to revive her daughter. This likely means she was just being used, I'm going to guess that there will be another twist in RE9 like the Ethan was dead all along one in 8. It'll be the ceremony was actually successful and Rose was left alive because the megamysete will be able to spread itself using her. I think this is why the guy at the end calls her Evaline, it's foreshadowing how she's actually a dangerous BOW.
I think when people are dead and buried, the megamycete breaks down their bodies and records their consciousness even without having them infected.

I wouldn’t be surprised. In the Daughters DLC for RE7 you saw Jack and the family more or less normal (except Lucas) but after the mold they all became deranged
So my own theory is that the Megamycete saw how venerable her mind was, that she was willing to end her own life grief-stricken by the death of her daughter and it drew her into the cave so it could corrupt her already fragile mental state. It giving her all that wisdom was it's own way to take a fragile mind and well make her evil. When the mold revived Ethan he already had such a strong mind it couldn't corrupt him, he was already determined to save his wife. I think it gave him knowledge of well everything he needed to survive and save his wife. It gave the knowledge that he wanted, (how to save his wife,) the same way it gave Mother Miranda the knowledge she wanted, (how to bring back her daughter.)

A giant early 1900s lady, a man with telekinetic powers who looks like he came from the wild west, a talking doll held by a woman wearing black, Quasimodo but fish, and a human with black wings. The four lords looked like a team of supervillains (not saying it's bad though, they're still greatly designed) while the Baker family looked more like something that you could encounter in real life (minus the mold).
I love the boss battle with her. The way she said “die” was so magical and the setting was beautiful. It made me believe I was there for a moment. Truly an amazing boss

I imagine another game but you play as Rose, and work toward killing Wesker once and for all (even though its been said he died in that volcano) something tells me otherwise. To cliche to kill a villain off in a volcano, also, the man survived nukes. But that aside, I feel like that would be a good way to slightly conclude this branch of the series, even if you dont get to fight as Rose I could see background fights of her and Wesker throwing each other through buildings and streets and the like.
Also, The greatest Creation of Umbrella, Wesker vs. The greatest mold enhanced by Miranda, and conceived by Ethan and Mia, with Evelines Genome.

An aspect that the two games do focus a lot on is family, everything being driven by family. Eveline wanting to make a family forming what happened in RE7, Ethan wanting to save his family for both RE7 and 8, the MegaMycthe recording everyone it takes in forming a communal "Family". It does form this idea that possibly what the mold fully develops is a continuous family of characters to make as its own. Even considering Miranda being made a "Mother" to the other infected, the lord's becoming childlike towards her in their own ways. Heisenberg being the rebellious kid. Alcina being the very devoted child who gets angry when the attention and care is not on her. Salvadore being the odd one out, the one who feels lonely and only can hope that Mother will care for them. Donna being a reminiscent one but also the kid who eggs on her siblings to fight so a new memory/family activity could be made.
The reason Miranda helped Ethan by leading him on and having him get the flasks from the lords isn't because she wanted to test him. In her boss fight she says he fulfilled his purpose by awakening the Megamycete and "killing her children". She had the lords keep the flasks so Ethan would have to defeat her children to obtain them. She wanted them all dead so she could be alone with Eva and used Ethan to do it.
"I took her apart and revived her in the Giant's Chalice". So...Rose really died? And then revived? So now, is Rose a living mold too?

The Resident Evil writers are truly ingenious with their lore. I could listen to it all day and never get bored.
I might be speculating a bit too much but many aspects of Miranda remind me of Morrigan, A Celtic shapeshifting goddess that was actually 3 sisters merged into one being, Heavily associated with the imagery of crows, A hag and a few other things that could be associated with RE 8, Funnily enough Miranda takes upon 3 women's forms during RE 8 which could credit my theory to some extent, I might be reaching a bit far but a lot of things just click.
When I was in her lab and saw the picture of Miranda holding her daughter I couldn't help but feel bad for her. It humanized her to me a little bit.

Mother Miranda is a grieving mother overcome by power, she got too consumed by it that she basically neglected and abused her "fake children".
Donna/Angie were traumatized even more by Miranda. Moreau wants Miranda to be his actual mother or at least let Miranda view Moreau as her child. Heisenberg didn't even want to be a monster-cyborg-creature thing and I'm not sure about Lady D.
I'm not sympathizing w Miranda, but I think she should've taken better care of her fake children/vessels for Eva WAYYYY better then she did in the game.
She might be one of the most powerful characters in the RE series, if she fought with her full power (since her powers were leaving her during the boss fight) she could possibly infect the entire world, using the collective consciousness off all those infected to learn and become more volotile and dangerous.
I can't remember a villain in the series who would be able to match Mother Miranda's power.

He didn't tell him because he fears information might leak out to other organizations including Miranda. One of his team asked how did Miranda know of Rose's existence despite hiding them for 3 years. Someone suggested "one birdy mold" might have told her. There are loads of organizations that wanted a piece of Rose that even Chris is getting suspicious of the BSAA itself. Do note that only Chris and his rogue Blue Umbrella team rescued Ethan, Mia and Zoe so no one knew what really happened in RE7. Only when he realized that Ethan is truly a good guy despite being a BOW mold person that he regretted this decision.

I always wondered why Miranda was vulnerable at the end and why her powers suddenly left her and this would be an explanation for that. When Ethan was dead, he talked to Evelyn, wich in my opinion means that her mind is also like saved within the mold, thus Ethan and rosee wich would also explain this cutscene. Maybe this is also why Rose didnt turn into Eva

Also, I really really think that a simple Bomb was not enough to destroy thr Megamycete, idk, something about the powers it gives to others makes me feel that it can easily remold itself whenever damaged or burned, so long as there is still a part left to it. It just hit me. We might not see the last of the Four Lords and Miranda. If the Megamycete definitely stored their conciousness, then this is not Miranda's last apperance.

Yeah, she didn't , Miranda gave Ethan false information that Rose was at Castle Dimitrescu ! She was obviously sending him on the wrong track and also get him killed
It actually took me 4 playthoughs to realise that the old hag was actually Miranda egging us to take on the lords, which was to confirm her suspicious about Rose.
I didnt notice the hag in the cutscene when Miranda kills Ethan.
So If I understood this part of the video, Ethans mold power was basicly him respawning every time he dies? If this is true it's actually kinda cool bringing in a game mechanic as a power lol

From a biological standpoint, I don't understand why Miranda doesnt simply birth a child of her own. I would think her own children would have a better chance of being a suitable vessel for Eva.
Maybe because Miranda is controls by this entity she isn't able to make logical decisions or understand simple genetics.
I think Megamycete is using her and making her desperate to revive her daughter with the thoughts of using megamycete's memory database even though her child, Eva died before getting infected of Spanish Flu

Anyone else kind of wish we had a timeline for when each of the Lords was experimented on and more about their lives beforehand? All we know is that Mother Miranda was infected/discovered the megamycete in later 1919 or early 1920 (as Eva died in August 1919 and that Miranda tried to die due to exposure, whether that be due to extreme cold or heat is up for debate), Lady D was 44 when it happened and that it was before 1958 (she was also still considered a noble while Donna was a step below nobility. The other two seemed to have lost theirs at some point in their ancestry considering they lived in a reservoir and factory compared to the castle and mansion of Lady D and Donna), and that Donna was infected after 1996 (as that is when Claudia died, who was most likely her daughter or younger sister) and that another relative of hers (possibly an aunt) was infected but died during the process (Bernadette B, died at 21).
Edit: Changed Bernadette from being a sister to an aunt, as she died in the 1950s while Donna was likely born between 1966 and 1976
I think that the duke will have a much bigger role in any upcoming games or dlcs because he quite clearly wanted ethan to kill mother Miranda and the other lords but has never explained his motive and seems to be much more powerful than he looks

I see what they were going for with Mother Miranda. The four houses and lords are meant to represent different types of horror, the Dimitrescu House is slasher horror, House Beneviento is psychological horror, House Moreau is body horror, and finally House Heisenberg is industrial horror. However, Miranda represents the Cult Horror genre, a person or group worshipped with absolute authority and has total control over the village and even the lords that rule it. They believe she is a goddess, or a savior to them and do everything she asks, which can be unsettling as we see them praying to her and setting up shrines around the town in her honor and devotion. She also spurs parental fears of child abduction and kidnapping, a very real threat to almost every parent in the world, much more emphasized when she has a whole village doing her bidding and see it as the holy thing to do. Of course Lady D and the rest steal the show but I still think Miranda is a very ominous figure lurking in the game, with her crow imagery and seraphic features. Excellent character design as she looks the most normal out of all of them, yet she is the most monstrous and freakish as she will destroy anything in her way to get what she wants.
Probably Miranda ALSO represents the more realistic horror of a parent outliving their kid.
I just wish the game was longer. They could’ve done so much more with her character. Give us more boss battles with her like William from RE2. Since she’s a shapeshifter. Mother Miranda is now my favorite all time villain in the series.

It's clear Miranda wanted to be done with all of her 'children' and bring the Mold to it's maximum power, why else would she deliberately throw the four (and inadvertently herself) as bones to Ethan's lone wolf crusade
Miranda monster form is kinda beautiful she looks like a dark angel instead of a tentacle beast, she also reminds me of "the gazette DOGMA" album pochette (released in 2015)

I am very unsure if the hag was Miranda because she may have turned into her at the end, but she also turned into Mia and she was still alive. And when the hag talks about someone being almost dead, she probably ment Ethan but before Ethan kills Miranda she says “your body most certainly isn’t normal” implying that she didn’t know he was dead all along.
So the Megamycete stores all the memories of the people it absorbs, creating some sort of genetic memory for whomever controls the Megamycete... Okay so Rose is basically Leto Atreides the second then? The God Emperor of Dune himself?
From the ending with the strange figure walking besides the car. Is it possible that it is Ethan? Watching over his daughter from the world he was in after his "death"? When his heart was ripped out that is. Just a thought I've had. If Rose can truly control the mold better than anyone before her, why couldn't it be the case that she could bring back Ethan? We never see the Megamycete be fully destroyed, though that was a pretty large explosion. We know the mold itself is very tricky. Looking forward to future installments. :)
Could explain Rose saying "I have powers even *I forgot his name* doesn't know about" maybe it's about her bringing back Ethan in some form, I just don't want Ethan to be really gone 😅

Yes, it IS Ethan's model. Though I doubt that's actually him. Most likely they wanted to portray that scene with some random guy walking the road, yet it wasn't worth the effort to face-scan and texture a whole 'nother character model(As the silhouette only appears once and you can't even see it properly). So they reused Ethan's model to save resources/time.
@@mike7DILFLUVR If it's Ethan's model, and the developers don't directly come out and say "this is his model but wasn't supposed to actually he him", then the obvious conclusion due to lack of opposing evidence is that it IS Ethan.
Also the reasoning here is ridiculous - if they wanted a random person in the scene but didn't want to make a brand new model, why didn't they use any of the models of the villagers that died in the first part of the game? Or better yet, if they were determined to use that model, why not make slight alterations to the hair or skin colour to more clearly distinguish it from Ethan despite it being the same model?
With the amount of detail they put into the game, I sincerely doubt they would be so lazy as to put the model of the past two games' most important character in the background of a very important scene without any real reason. Especially because they know people will mod and break the game to acquire more information and would eventually be able to see the model of Ethan being used in that scene.
@@Purpeil Also, Ethan didn't wear his jacket in the cutscene at the end since Rose was wearing it. So I'm pretty sure Capcom intended to bring him back in any way.
I think the reason that Miranda allows Ethan to wander the villiahe may be because she wants him to kill all his children. When Ethan Manages to kill all her children. She probably had intentions of making him a lord, but in the end she sees that he is not worthy as he just wants his daughter back.

Miranda thought a mother's love though powerful, had no equal. That's why she failed because she underestimated a father's iron will to protect, defend, and persevere for the sake of his child.

This story looks so much like bloodborne, i think RE8 writers got inspiration from BB since the story is similar in some situations like, the cadou curing some but transforming others in monsters and some having higher affinity transforming in stronger monsters like the old blood from Bloodborne and of course the resemblance of Heisenberg to a hunter of bloodborne with a boom hammer is so similar

its crazy how throughout the entire game they tease you with certain dialogue that basically tells you that Ethan isn't human, "how can a man be "almost" dead?"
So the way I'm looking at this is that Rose has the ability to absorb mycete matter. Anything she comes in contact that has to do with the molding is essentially a form of life for her. She can absorb it if she is injured or even use it as a weapon. I believe that if we play as her in the next game, then late in to the game we discover her power and have this sort of symbiote battle like in the venom movie. But again, not until really late in to the game. And of course, Chris Redfield will be explaining it and we'll probably run in to Ada Wong this time because this seems like way too good of an opportunity for a character like her. Who will probably be working in conjunction with Wesker's son. Just my thought

Most of the people always talk about how donna and Moreau have the most tragic backstory, but did you heard about the story of mother miranda. She tried to commit suicide because she loses her daughter because of the spanish flu and the reason why she became bad is because she only wanted to be reunited with her daughter and also, when miranda yelled " MY DAUGHTER !!!!! MY EVA!!!!!! " When she was about to die. It broke my heart, a mother's love for her child is immeasurable

The problem with Ozwell spencer knowing Miranda is that he was looking for a cure to his old age and death yet he had Leonard’s there who can do just that
You know, Chris could’ve told Ethan from the start and it would’ve saved him a lot of mental anguish and pain. Like Chris could’ve shot him a text and said “Hey dude, that’s not your wife, someone kidnapped her and took her place. We’re gonna take her out and quarantine you two for a bit, and with your cooperation you will all be safe.” Then Ethan would join them and never even lose Rose but no, Chris wanted to make a story I guess.

While I like Miranda I feel that the link between her and Spencer was ham fisted. Spencer was a megalomaniac who wished to become a God and issue in a new genesis. It seems highly unlikely that he wouldn't take the option for immortality so he could live to do this even if he disagreed with her ends he would still use her means.
I was not expecting Miranda being the origins of umbrella it was nice way of tying to the OG games
