    As a jewelry designer - of many years - who has listened to a zillion tutorials, I have to say this one is great…it hits on all the important components of a complete instructional video, easy to follow, nice to listen to and the end result is a beautiful, serviceable piece that my young clients will love. GREAT WORK! Thank you! Cate

    As a metalsmith I probably should say former metalsmith yes former as I am now a cripple what I tell you now is what my teacher used to say copper everyone thinks it’s quite healthy to where it’s actually it’s a toxic substance if worn by one too long on the skin so if this is only like something I wanna put on for maybe a few hours and I am not getting it wet as in not going to wash the dishes or get it wet in anyway you could probably get away with wearing it However you should not wear it in the long long term because it’s not pure copper usually it’s mixed with other metals because of that it’s not safe to wear for any length of time, pure on copper tends turn green if it’s pure copper if it’s an alloy which most copper wires tend to be these days depends what it’s mixed with it might not turn green for quite some time but it is toxic. So just beware well it will look beautiful I have no doubt about beautiful it’s not something that can be worn for a long period of time unless you coat it or you can take a very plain simple silver band and put it on the inside or you can like I said you can code it there are ways to coach it sorry voice to text is giving me problems like I said problems with my hand so I don’t have a choice but to use voice to text. I think people need to be made aware of this because I didn’t know this until I became a metal Smith and that’s when my teacher started telling us that while we could make beautiful rings and what not out of brass aluminum and even copper we should not wear them but use them from models and make a product out of silver wanted the reason being that the The brass copper aluminum are all materials that have a high toxicity level to this body the longer they are worn against the body the higher the rate of toxicity hired that will sleep in to the skin through the skin what street this can cause problems especially in our society with people each and the fact that our bodies aren’t always very good at getting rid of toxins been caught my teacher you do not want to put something toxic into your bloodstream because it’s technically kind of on the heavy metal scale.
    Because of this these materials can cause eventual cancers. So why make them you can make it is something beautiful you can even have them electroplated after once electroplated the silver whatever gold if you wish they are now no longer toxic because they have been coated. The better the electroplating the better it is for you. I hope this makes sense I could not fix some of the mistakes that are here what I meant to say it one point is in our society where we are exposed to a lot of toxic things on a daily basis you don’t want to add more fuel to the fire as it were.

      Just depends on your experience. What an experienced artist can do in 30 minutes a newbie can take hours. A ring definitely wont take as long as a pendant though. And the half round wire cuts weaving time.

    I'm asking this from a place of ignorance so please be patient with me. Doesn't copper turn your skin green? Or is jewelry quality wire coated somehow? This is a beautiful ring but who would wear it if it turned their skin green?

    • @CreationsByCaryssa
      @CreationsByCaryssa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Suzanne! :) That is a perfectly understandable and great question! I have been wearing copper jewelry everyday for the last six years and I have never had an issue with it turning my skin green. I also don't coat my copper in any sealants as the sealants are prone to chipping and fading. Everyone's skin type and PH levels are different so each person's skin may react differently to certain metals. Also, many times where copper turns your skin green is if it comes into contact with moisture and is not properly cleaned and dried. The green color comes from the oxidation of copper after it is exposed to moisture and other elements. If you are good about keeping your jewelry clean, away from lotions, perfumes and other moisture and taking it off before you sleep, you shouldn't have an issue. But again, everyone's skin and body is different. I hope this information helps a bit ❤️

    I have a question if I don't have 21g what can I use to substitute.

    • @CreationsByCaryssa
      @CreationsByCaryssa  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would suggest a size up or down depending on your cabochon size. So you could do 22g for a smaller cabochon or 20g for a larger one 😊

    Loved the video, great job with explaining...but since u mentioned to leave any suggestions... then I have one. It might sound stupid, and FYI you arent the only TH-camR who does. Theres quite a few...but my suggestion would be, if possible, that when explaining. That your tone of voice, is more flowy....like example 16:20 - 16:28 sounds fine. But here is an example of a rhythmic tone(like it goes up and down like a roller coaster) You'll understand when u play this example 20:40 -21:08 . Just a suggestion. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Awesome! Curious if there is a reason you don’t use plasti dip on your tools?

    • @CreationsByCaryssa
      @CreationsByCaryssa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! 😊 that's a great question! I've actually never heard of doing that before to be honest. My tools are really worn down from using them over the years so they don't bite into my wire like new tools do, to fix that you can always use a buffing tool to soften the edges. I hope this helps :)

    Hello, do you spray anything on the finished product?

    • @CreationsByCaryssa
      @CreationsByCaryssa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 🥰 over the years I've decided not to spray anything on the finished product due to not being able to find anything I can trust. Unfortunately any of the sealants I've heard that they will chip, peel or yellow over time so I've decided to leave the metal without a coating and just recommend a polishing cloth to bring the brightness back to the metal whenever its too oxidized or looking dull ❤️ I hope this helps

    How big of a stone do you think this style would accommodate? Do you think it’d work with an irregular shaped stone?

    • @CreationsByCaryssa
      @CreationsByCaryssa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how well it would work with an irregular shaped stone, I haven't tried it with many other sizes of stones but I am assuming you could go up to 7 or 8 mm easily :) Thank you!

  • @lynnmontgomery
    @lynnmontgomery ปีที่แล้ว

    Your way of making this ring really helped me eliminate my frustration with this style.
    Have you tried a 5mm round cab? Do you think 22g square and 22g half round would hold a 5mm cab? Would like to make a smaller, delicate version but don’t want to loose strength/security.
    6mm round cab with 20g square and 21g half round has been a perfect combination.

    That is very beautiful.
    Question... if you put sulfur if ., get your fingers still green, or is it the same as when it is not colored? I can only wear copper or platinum. As platinum is very expensive, I wear all my jewelry made of copper. And it is already hard to find good copper in Belgium. I use mostly electrical wire. I remove the plastic that's around so it sure can tarnish. I already try to give it a coat of resin or nail polish. But my fingers still get stained. I don't mind, but when I make it for someone they complain about it. Even when I always say it in advance that it might give coloration to the skin. But if it doesn't do that anymore with the sulfur of liver that would be such a good thing. So if you can help me with that question, I would be very happy.
    Thank you for your tutorials. I am wire-wrapping for about 5 years too. And I am enjoying to see how you come to designs... here it is not a very common thing like in the States and Canada. You can't follow a course or find the equipment. I have to import it from the States or other parts of Europe. I have 2 kinds of Xeron players. I wish I could have more. But even on Amazon it's impossible to order them. The moment I put Belgium as a country, they are out of stock or not getting to Belgium. And it is very difficult to find good pliers here. They are big and unfit to use for jewelry. And if you go to jewelry supplies you have to be a designer with a shop to be able to order... they don't sell to people who don't do it for a living... I am constantly searching for good wire or tools. Rio Grande isn't an option. The taxes and import fees are crazy... add the shipping with it and it's more than double the price... so I am grateful to watch your videos and see the tools you use... sinibcan continue my quest... even beads are hard to find. Round beads ok. But all the different shapes are hard to find. 😊 pity... but it doesn't discourage me... I keep on going. ❤ so thank you for sharing your knowledge... sincerely Malika... ❤
