How early should i start making my timetable for my first year classes at ualberta? Is it likely that I'll lose good time slots for classes if i make my timetable late?
Honestly just do it as soon as you can, it doesn’t have to be the very first day that it’s open for enrolling, but the longer you wait the less spots you have, and sometimes a class might only have 1 slot that you must take it in and schedule the others around it. No benefit in waiting, but a lot of people will change/swap/drop classes, especially for the winter term, so only the closest term is important, try to make the winter one as well, but you will likely change it 100 times before finishing the fall one.

I am not sure, you should go onto the UofA website under the graduate programs and see CS, it should show, most likely yes, I don’t think they wouldn’t offer you masters just because you are international, many of my TAs are international students in masters.
Currently the UofA is doing classes online due to COVID, all of my CS and non CS classes are online, but this may or may not change in 2021. Under normal conditions you would not be able to take classes online.

On the start of university, there is a club expo for all the first years and such. I personally just wasn’t interested in much there, but UofA does have lots of clubs where you can play games and a CS club for game making. Lots of clubs, just have to find out what you like if anything.

Hi Guila, I actually wouldn’t be able to tell you, I completed high school in Canada and so I didn’t have to encounter applications with international grades. Most likely they will do some kind of conversion to see how it compares here.

hello. I am a fourth year sociology major and BIOsci minor at the UofA and Im in PLLC ( Peter Lougheed Leadership College) its a certificate along with the degree you are doing and it focuses on interdisciplinary leadership skills ( learn about high functioning teams, leadership theory, systems thinking, change management, motivation, etc) and you really expand your network with awesome students and instructors. its a two year program with 4 classes over those two years so you have to be in the U of A to apply. I applied in the nd of my second year, go in and began during third year. right now im a second year scholar in the program, most people are third, fourth or even fifth year. I would suggest you apply while in your first year and try. it out during your second or even third. Hope that helps, I suggest it if you want to get more out of uni. now days the workforce is about network and skills more so then the degree, so this is a good change of pace from what your learning in your degree, ( we have people from all faculties) to get those connections and collaborative skills

Ahahaha, thanks for the laugh man, I wouldn’t stress at all, I finished my first year in honors without studying and only completing the assignments and projects that we had, and for some classes that is already enough, I do recommend that you study the classes you don’t understand very well, or things that are brand new and you haven’t practiced, but you will not need to study for that much. The only times I did 10 hours of work is when I was working on my CS project and it took longer since it was Honors material.

Hi, to be honest I wouldn’t know, but usually you can check averages and minimum requirements on the UofA page. For example getting into most science degrees, 70% combined average of high school core classes is a minimum.

Hi David, never would have expected you to see my videos :) I am good, I actually dropped down after 117 to 146 unfortunately. But to be honest that class was badly structured and after not doing any math for the first semester I honestly felt like I learned more in 117. I am struggling a little with math, in high school absolutely destroyed it with like 98% but after the first year it hard. I have to learn Calc 2 over this winter break, any suggestions on how to approach this? Got 214 in winter.

I have no idea, first of all, I am in computing science, and only in my second year, so anything to do with masters I wouldn’t be able to answer, I really don’t know what kind of requirements they have. I suggest going onto their page and they will have some outline of the requirements or an application that will be able to tell you.

Thanks, yeah I am aware, I had a audio issue where the external was sped up every so often for some reason, and it was more compressed, so I couldn’t match it perfectly. I got new camera that takes in a mic now so next time will be good.

I have no idea, first of all, I am in computing science, and only in my second year, so anything to do with masters I wouldn’t be able to answer, I really don’t know what kind of requirements they have. I suggest going onto their page and they will have some outline of the requirements or an application that will be able to tell you.
