youtube to mp3 my beloved
the Jolly Roger is calling to me
I love these services, too, but I wish people weren't as open about sharing direct links to these websites.
And thus, the world entered the great pirate era!
if u want a way to bulk download youtube videos to mp3, use mediahuman if you have windows, been using it for a while to back up all the stuff i listen to on yt music
@@cyberneticsquid the fact that you can download ALL of your soundcloud likes OR reposts OR entire playlists with one link is wonderful.
In my eyes piracy (currently) is not an enemy to artists and creators, but a necessity that ensures that streaming online services have minimum standards. As a wise man once said "We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem" "If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable."
As of today, piracy is one of the few places that care about the media and tries to make it available as long as possible, on the other hand companies (as you said) treat them as disposable products that are only worth during the time it makes the most money.

Intellectual property laws in general are a cobra farm. They were intended to protect creators and encourage innovation, but instead they are stifling innovation and harming creators.
I'm someone who tends to be against piracy, if its available for purchase (or near purchase in the case of video game license) in the way you are going to use it (so for music being able to purchase the album and locally download it) then I believe its immoral to pirate
but thats the problem with all media besides really video games nowadays, there just, isn't an option to purchase, its ALL subscriptions, no option to buy and download modern shows or movies, and I don't want it physically, I want an MP3 and Movie/TV show library locally, and since ripping blu rays and CDs is legally the same as piracy (yes you can legally make back ups but you can't legally use those backups as a replacement for the original) I may as well pirate and its why I do for Movies and TV shows, and in a way music since I use a modded version of spotify that adblocks by spoofing a premium subscription, I tend to only interact with a couple shows, movies, and music albums, I would be happy to buy JUST those shows or JUST those movies, but thats not an option I am given
remember: piracy doesn't hurt anyone if the product is no longer being sold
Statements like these make me want the 28 / up to 56 years of copyright US law back, but of course those copyright gremlins in the 70s wanted it extended to 95 years. The entire Flintstones cartoons, and 2001: A Space Odyssey would've been in the public domain by now.

3DS Music Library my man
I was the proud curator of my own mp3 library growing up, composed entirely of video game soundtracks, random dubstep from Soundcloud, and, inexplicably, "Gay and Dead" by Trial of the Golden Witch (I don't want to talk about it). I was kind of neurotic about it, though. Experiencing all my music through soundtracks instead of traditional albums trained me to be really picky about what music was allowed onto the "canonical playlist". I'd go through a 50 track OST and pick out three specimens that I'd want to listen to 100% of the time, in any mood, on repeat, and toss them into a compost heap playlist that slowly expanded like a fungus . Nothing was allowed to exist in its context, nothing had a time and place. I didn't even like listening to soundtracks as background music until I had fully put them through this process of vetting and dissection, and knew every track by name. I wonder why I never got that into the Homestuck soundtrack...
Sorry I think I just spent a whole paragraph describing a mental illness instead of answering the question. Point is, what ended up driving me away from the mp3 library was inability to sustain my own pickiness. It got too time consuming and made me averse to exploring new music, so I gravitated to clicking on weird-looking youtube playlists and surrendering to the luck of the draw. Although I don't use spotify, I think this is also the reason it appeals to many people. It naturally expands your horizons in a way that would otherwise require conscious effort. I don't think your message is wrong either, I just think some people don't have involved enough of a relationship with their music for manual curation to be appealing.
It really doesn't help that the music player UI/UX hasn't evolved since, like 2012. It's always an afterthought in media players. Curating and organizing your own music is SUCH a hassle.

Thousands of MP3's and TH-cam Music my beloved.
im the exact same way, because of my niche music tastes i also have gone the way of an mp3 library. never used spotify a day in my life and im happy i havent. my personal way of doing it is recording stereo mix on to audacity and saving that. time-consuming, but definitely the safest way to prevent any viruses
edit after finishing watching: to clarify, been downloading all my life! my dad taught me how to do it and ive never known anything else. i have a personal library in the gigabytes with over a thousand songs (and growing!). and because its direct unaltered audio from youtube, the quality is usually really good! at least to my standards
The only reason I use Spotify is because it's A LOT more convenient to setup playlists, find songs, etc.
Although I def 100% agree with what you're saying. Might use Spotify to get songs, arrange playlists and then download them for downloaded use >:3
thats exactly how i started downloading songs! Found a spotify playlist downloader downloaded all of the songs and it even came with the meta data so you got things like the album cover too its pretty neat!
@dugetwin oh shit theres spotify downloaders?! That makes it even better XD
@@shigzn yeah! you just make your spotify playlist public copy link and after watching one ad it downloads your entire playlist into a zip folder on your device!
Spotify gives you the option to download the songs in the settings menu im pretty sure. Theres no other reason why spotify should be taking up nearly as much space as it does lol.
Anyway i use Spotify over other things because:
1. Spotify is extremely easy to use
2. Spotify is much more accessible than, say going into my files and searching for the name of a song manually.
3. Playlists, Artist pages, Discover weeklies, toggleable shuffle mode, etc.
4. Last listed but definitely not the last reason at all, is that its easily cross platform, its the same spotify on all my devices no matter what, no matter where i am.
Me: Dang if only there was some way to comfortably listen to such great bangers such as "omw to visit ur mom" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams in Classical Latin" Without having to deal with hostile software forcing me to pay money for features that used to be free. Oh god finally someone else! I have three flash drives full of music and my cheap ass phone is crammed with SiIvagunner rips so I can only have like 3 apps.
I was gifted an MP3 player at the end of last year and since then, I've been going absolutely wild converting my CDs onto there, and I'm glad to see a bunch of other people doing similar things! I have roughly 400 songs so far, and there are still many more to come.

I've been contemplating carrying my own weight when it comes to playing games and watching my favorite shows, a backburner passion project is throwing together "definitive editions" of my favorite shows and movies and maybe slapping a couple on blu-ray, and this videos kinda swayed me in the direction of doing that for my music library. An lengthy task for a playlist spanning 1,000+ videos sure, but I'd take that over youtube just deciding I should have to stop what I'm doing and close 7 ads or what I can't have on a miniplayer
Quality. Super-high quality. Shoutouts to Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.
Jelly on my hotdog I am very high
I'm in a similar situation as well. Collecting CD's and copying them to FLACs on the computer, and having my very own music database. And one cool thing about CD's is that you can buy used ones for very cheap if you know where to look. I don't need to pay for a data plan or unreliable streaming services!
6:40 there are third party software that downloads your spotify playlists as mp3 files
Wait cause I actually NEED to know some rn
I also have my own downloaded music library. I never understood how streaming was supposed to be more convenient than just loading up my phone with all the music I like, and I don't want to have to rely on some outside power to put songs on a service.
meow meow. I also have "special" music taste and have been adding to my own personal collection of mp3s for over a decade, too. Feels validating to know that I'm not alone in this, because child me felt like a weirdo for not liking the same "normal" music that everyone else around me did.
Having music on physical media doesn't have to be expensive.
I myself bought a cassette deck at a local charity shop which cost me €50 and I record the mp3s on my pc onto cassettes. The latter of which I got a whole box of because I bought them for cheap at a flea market.
Cassettes are also highly portable and you can listen to them on the go on a walkman!
I was almost going to sleep but now I need to download my entire streaming playlists and put it on a 16G usb drive guess I won’t sleep tonight

0:42 wait, there is a vinyl of the Yume Nikki soundtrack!? I never knew I needed this
I have extreme respect for people who download their music as MP3s as growing up I didn't have internet access at home for most of my life so I had to resort to downloading MP3s. I used to buy empty CDs from the store then burn MP3s I downloaded onto my laptop onto my CDs at school. I did have an MP3 player and a phone at the time but the storage space on both, even combined were BEYOND low (even for mid-late 10s) which is why I preferred having everything physical. I still prefer having MP3s over streaming to this day but I now use both interchangeably, usually depending on the genre.
Yume Nikki Sounds are great to Sneak in explanation videos they fit in soo organically.
Honestly, i still recommend CDs. Sure the more well-known artists and buying from sites like fangamer and turtle pals tapes IS indeed pricey, but... Come on. Job lots of these things are cheap as heck and now is the time to cash in on them because where else am i going to find MOLOKO's "Things To Make And Do" with the cover printed on regular paper and the track list as a crusty jpeg? (found it in a charity shop and ngl it's actually kind of a vibe.)
You'll find new artists you've never even heard about before and if you find some rare gems? great! if you find really funny albums that are ironically good, also great! if you've paid for albums you won't ever listen to... well... that's not so great, but still.
HECK YEAH!!! i started downloading mp3s cus i didnt have the money for a spotify subscription and i didnt want to be perpetually connected to the internet to listen to music, and also giving money to youtube or spotify just seemed like a really lame thing to do lol. im used to pirate basically everything since i was a kid so it just seemed like the natural thing to do for me, but i still try to buy particular albums in digital when i want to help the creator. i live in a country where piracy is a lot more commonplace and less legally restricted than in the US, but nowadays i see more and more people who have no idea how to download anything and it makes me a bit sad lol. good video!!!
Something I like to do is take MP3 files and burn them onto a CD so I can listen to them in a car. I have one for various video game songs and one for Siivagunner rips as well.
i like streaming because it's easy to find more artists to listen to so i can adventure out of my music bubble occassionally
i personally prefer to use youtube (not youtube music, just regular youtube) for listening to music
as i usually listen to one song repeatedly until i get bored of it, and i also mostly listen to video game music, i prefer just having a tab open thats just bulblax kingdom extended for 30 minutes, no download required, because i KNOW that audio can take up LOADS of space
and while i would switch to nintendo music for some songs, i dont have a phone, and i wish that nintendo had a website version or a downloadable program for windows
When the world needed chill chatting and relaxation, Shadok provides.
I’ve only recently been starting collecting records but I’ve found that I get to enjoy the music much more due to that extra setup time I put into actually getting to listen to it. What makes them more enjoyable is I get to enjoy the album art and all of the packaging in my own physical version
I don’t currently have any mp3 players of my own so I have also been downloading some of my favorite band’s albums onto my 3ds, like the sounds app makes for a really good mp3 player that I have been using a lot to sleep to or just to stay off my phone when I want to be productive but also want something to listen to other than the radio
I'm glad I'm not the only person left on this barren earth that still buys music and has a music library!
It really really is the best of all worlds, the only shortcoming I feel is discoverability, I still juggle a soundcloud subscription mainly just to find new artists and sometimes even games.
I have a massive mp3 library ive built up since i was a kid, and recently im building it up again because of a site that has like most video game soundtracks for free, and you can also mass download albums if you contributed back to the site!
I just saw one of Shadok’s comments on another video and then out of nowhere they upload right as I finish it. Just one of those weird little coincidences that make you pause for a second.
Unlimited data plan is not really a problem where I live it's 13 euros a month and considering I don't go deep into the forest I always have data I can always play music from youtube.
y2mate + adblock = glory
I was always used to mp3s, the streaming services where and still are pretty alien to me
I started downloading music because it's easier to share when playing D&D online, and it is SO good to just have 2 gb of music that I've trimmed and edited to seamlessly loop whenever I want it
thank you for this! i wish all of my friends who feel trapped by streaming services could understand...
I actually used to keep a MP3 music library, but my problem with it was the discoverability... Spotify is just really good at helping me find new music
god im so glad im not the only one doing this!!! sure it's sometimes annoying to organise but it's mine and if i downloaded it once i dont have to go look it up again
Your OC is adorable!! Also, burning CD-Rs was a HUGE part of my childhood and I'm so happy and excited that kids can get into it too like I did
And with this video, i'm dropping spotify.....FOREVER.
For me my only issue of not using a streaming platform is the fact you need to sync your files and find the perfect player.
But I’m agreeing that Spotify is the worse streaming platform and today I prefer invest my time in creating an open source self hosted streaming player so I could just used my flac like Spotify without spotify policy
Today I have nearly 8 gigs of music stored on my phone, and I could easily fit 20 gigs more. My collection grows, and I'll never switch to music streaming. MWAHAHA

One thing I really like about streaming services is getting recommended music based on what I like, its pretty convenient. But I still like to buy albums, either physically or digital on Bandcamp, or merch and such if possible to support my favourite artists
i readed homestuck because of you and now everytime i see a disk i think of dave strider and/or cascade thank you

I used to buy lots of pirate movies dvd and watch it on my xbox 360. Good times
I think audio quality and compression is why some peeps don't want to download their own libraries. Its why some folks still use vinyl; that sound apparently cant be outmatched.
Plus ease of use; streaming services appeal to the normal peeps, who listen only to the popular genres. Why scour and explore the internet on a computer using googles shitty algorithm, possibly getting a virus if they visit the wrong site, when they can just download a single app on their mobile phone and have access to basically everything they listen to.
They've got their place, but Lisa : The Pointless : Scholar Of The Wilbur Sin- Aim for the eyes (Mes Tez and Wing Sping Version) and Heard 'Em Passengers Say - ODDTAXI vs. the rapper formerly known as Kanye West arent on Spotify so its YT-DLP FOR ME!!!!
I agree 200% i prefer just buying music on bandcamp or going to the store to get CDs if it's like a 2000s release that still gets published
personally i like randomly finding new music on spotify, but other than that i'd be fine with just downloading all my music
There's actually apps nowadays that help you automatically sync files between you computer and your phone even across the internet and some of them even have streaming-like ui's and such to make it easier to navigate.
Spotifys greatest enemy is yt to mp3 link converter
When I was in middle and high school I listened almost exclusively to stuff of off Overclocked Remix.
Today now that I have a job and money, I'll buy off of Bandcamp to support the artist, get a CD if it's not available on Bandcamp, or iTunes if I really can't get it anywhere else, and TH-cam if it's not a song that moves me to pay money for it.
There's probably open source software to sync music files with your phone and your pc. It's 2024, baby! Perchance. If ya nasty.
I still use an MP3 player, got a cool one that looks like the Idroid from Metal gear solid, I hate having everything on a phone or an algorithm telling me what to like.
Keep making the wonderful videos, you inspired me to get back into web creation again.
Usually I don’t like downloading to mp3 because downloading 900+ songs that I’ve favorited on Spotify already would take absolutely forever.
The Dev of the videogame Ultrakill said it best "Culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it"
I don't listen to songs much, but this sounds pretty interesting, having your own control for music and nobody being abke to take it away sounds very nice for a music enjoyer!
My biggest brag for the longest time is that I saved every song I liked as an mp3 since around 2015 and now I have almost 14 gigs of music

started trying to grow my bandcamp library after using youtube and spotify since ever, its def different, but it is nice to just have my own stuff
Recently I switched from Spotify from TH-cam Music to downloading songs on TH-cam onto my storage drive
Spotify has a feature that allows you to import mp3s and add them to playlists. Its a little clunky but it works well enough for me to have splatoon music next to the mountain of electronic music in my playlist, and it syncs automatically with my phone!
I have a huge library of chiptunes and tracker music all in native and emulated formats. Guess thats my equivalent to a mp3 collection.
There's so much videogame music _sitting on the clouds_ out there that you can easily download to your storage space, to me it's better than using any streaming service.
I have so many fuckin fnf, ut/dr, and just a ton of video game osts and fansongs downloaded as mp3s on my phone, including stuff I just happened to find on soundcloud that sounded really good
I do both thing actually, i have an mp3 library AND a cd collection, it is much smaller than the mp3 library but it is really nice to have the cds with their lil booklets and extra goodies
I have a balance between using my own mp3s and listening to streaming. Often, I listen to individual albums through my mp3s with just some playlists to connect some albums together that are related (notably, sequel albums). However, I tend to use streaming to put together playlists for things like my characters. This is partially to save on just how many MP3s I download, partially to make it more convenient to share my playlists with friends, and partially to better allow me to discover new songs to put in the playlists. And since I use not spotify for streaming, I already have to mirror my playlists onto Spotify if I want to share my playlisys with friends, which I already have difficulties keeping up with without having to deal with a local copy of my playlists.
Playlists are the main reason I use streaming services since maintaining local playlists are more annoying
I have a few things to add. Dont ever forget that copying is a natural property of any information and trying to stop it, or paywall it should be a crime. The talk about piracy is a big subject, because everything that goes about downloading and converting music for free, downloading games and movies will eventually end in the talk about piracy. Piracy does not equal to stealing, it is copyright infringement, but copyright as a segment of law should be shattered, it benefits nothing to the OC. In reality piracy popularizes the product. When you are not able to buy a game, or you just dont want to, because you cant know if the game is good or not, so you download it for free and then, if you like the game, you may give money to the creator. Or not, it should not be mandatory, as again, copying is natural.
Props to you, Shadok, thx for covering this subject. TH-cam to mp3 my beloved, it should become more popular waaaaah ~(>_
I think the main counter-argument is that if piracy vvas completely legal, vvith no restrictions on hovv nevv the media is, then the product vvould become an inferior alternative due to it costing money to buy the same songs you can find online for free, so music can't even be a product anymore that artists can sell vvithout some attempt to prevent the user from recording or storing it. Copyright is flavved in so many vvays that vvhile its place is incredibly important, it needs to be rethought. Patents seem pretty good as a full replacement, the only problem vvith them is mainly due to judges not knovving vvhat is too vague in technology---a much better issue imo considering they expire after a set amount of time anyvvay.
@@neon9940 the thing is, if copying information should not be restricted, physical copies are still a thing and that is where paying money is completely justified, of course. And you not only pay for the material costs that were spent on the product, but for the experience that the author intended, which is also a heavy argument if you ask me. having an mp3 on my computer is cool, but having a physical cd or lp of the thing with all the covers and flashy stuff is much cooler. This might be a psychology thing, that if someone asks you to pay money, you feel pressure, but when you have the choice to either download for free or buy a cd to support the artist, if feels more like a charity, so a lot of people will absolutely do it, just for the covers at least. And this is also the best way to support an artist. When you buy a subscription in Spotify or Deezer, most of the money you pay go to those companies, benefiting just a little to the author but lowering the potential growth as the music cannot be shared freely anymore.
(also, my english is not that good, im sry for the mistakes :))
@@leglesslegolegolas i'd probably say the "share freely" thing is only most important when it doesn't provide a potential loss to the artist. (like when the storefront to buy the music is taken down) Also the charity argument I feel like doesn't really keep up with the amount of artists that exist, so everyone gets much less funding than they would otherwise get if the thing they did was an actual product.
Music is like any other product that exists, it's not bad to sell something, you just need money. Right now piracy is about as good for the artist as streaming from spotify, and I agree that shouldn't be the case, but that doesn't mean that piracy should be the norm from now on. This extends to video games too, older games that make no profit to their IP holders probably should be free to share, but current games are valuable pieces of media that support the creators that made the game (or at the very least, preventing them from getting layed off)
Running a small home server for music and video streaming, it's really nice.
I almost completely agree with this video as another music downloader. I also have a similar stance with the whole audiophile thing where I completely cant tell between flac and mp3 etc., I can listen to unmixed compressed dubstep(modern dubstep/vrostep) mp3s and be completely fine😭
I miss your glados theory. It was only up for a day but it was the best thing on youtube ever
You should check if it was posted onto the internet archive.
I listen to most of the music on spotify because downloading an album in FLAC means it's a really good one. (i have one minialbum and 2 singles)

Fuck spotify, 10k songs on my phone
I used to listen to full album/OST videos on TH-cam in the background when I was a teen, and sometimes downloaded the MP3 versions to my phone for trips, because TH-cam on the phone doesn't play in the background. Otherwise, I didn't bother downloading, because none of the videos got taken down or deleted. Nowadays I'm mixing between Spotify, TH-cam, and physical media.
Spotify for HQ and accessibility, TH-cam for otherwise unavailable music, physical media for best quality and supporting the artists.
Before I even knew about TH-cam or MP3s, I recorded video game music from the PC to my phone with a microphone. I vividly remember recording some custom Super Mario World ROM hack Mega Man songs with my red Sony Ericsson phone.

This definitely inspires me to download more music!!
This video feels like my wake up call, cause I've just been juggling between streaming and downloading songs for a couple years now, and I've been finding it more fun to have all my music at my fingertips via downloading it. My iPhone is an iPhone, which means it kinda sucks and doesn't have a headphone jack, and eventually I just got tired of buying the adapter over and over so I just took my old Nintendo DSi, got an old SD card I had, put plenty of songs I had downloaded already, and bam! My own little mp3 player! (Even though the DSi only reads in m4a but It's nothing a converter can't solve). Having a DSi is cool for this but isn't always ideal, when I'm on my laptop I often like to open Winamp with my funny little Azumanga Daioh skins and listen to music that way too, and even though Winamp crashes sometimes, it's still fun for me. I carry my laptop around often with my backpack, so sometimes, I'll even put some music on through Winamp, put my laptop to sleep while it's still on, and put my laptop in my backpack with the headphone cord still sticking out so I can listen to music on the go that way too. Spotify, at least for me, is really not my cup of tea, especially when I listen more to VGM, which is why I prefer SoundCloud, but even then they don't always have everything you're looking for and many of the non-VGM requires payment, SO I SAY SCREW IT! I'MMA BE DOWNLOADING MUSIC FROM NOW ON BABYYYY
THANK YOU, SHADOK!!
yaaay using a dsi to listen to music is incredibly powerful
Bandcamp actually supports M4a Files, so when you buy a new song no conversion is needed
@@The_Markimator Sweet!!
4:44 i'm a bit of an audiophile, but not that much. MP3 quality is fine for me, just not TH-cam quality audio
Very comfy and sweet video! We have a lot of similar music tastes too, so I also have a big library with music I like downloaded. Sadly, I haven't been updating it as much these last few years thanks to me using TH-cam and other streaming services, but I kinda miss it so I may go back to it someday.
One thing you can do is get physical media, then digitise it. This is difficult with vinyl, but extremely easy with CDs and cassettes. The audio quality, in the case of CDs, is quite nice, thankfully. Furthermore, many libraries (at least in my region) carry such physical media, so you can borrow the albums from there and digitise it at no cost to you. The libraries here also allow patrons to request purchases, so you can have input on what the library buys---again, at no (additional) cost to you. Obviously they probably won't have titles in your particular niche, but I've found that the ones near me have an abundance of really interesting and obscure titles that I would never have found if I hadn't explored the library's collection.
I have kind of a mixed approach where I have spotify and use it often but I also go to live shows (usually smaller ones) and get CD's from there and play those through winamp. I just don't have the money to buy ALL of the mountain of music I listen too.
I download music myself personally, but that's from when I was a kid it was how I could listen to stuff while at school because our school was a giant brick building with lead pipes that made signal incredibly hard to get in the inner classes, like the art room. So I just stayed in the habit.
I complrtly agree, althought i used mp3 playing because of the better shuffleing but i recently switched back to youtube since I already have yt preminum and yt suffiking works for me but its nice having a large portion of my playlist download so when im without wifi I still have nearly all of my songs
People just want to listen to music without having to go through the effort of downloading MP3s. Not everyone knows how to do it, nor do they care to learn, because services like Spotify are convenient. You can look up a song and play it instantly. I have my own collection of MP3s, but if I want new songs, I have to add them to a playlist, then put the playlist link into a program and wait for it to download. It's much easier with Spotify, where you just add a song to a playlist, and you're good to go. Plus, finding new songs is a lot easier. I’ve noticed that I’ve been listening to new songs less since I stopped using TH-cam and Spotify. I still find new music, of course, but not as much as I used to. While I prefer MP3s, I understand why people use streaming services.
I've been downloading music for years and never really thought about it. I like streaming services but they're always more focused on selling me something I can't afford rather than letting me listen to my songs
