      well, xray radiation is smth else than wlan etc. Not saying wlan etc is healthy. But xray radiations tissue damaging effects add up the more xrays and the larger the xray picture is. Lets say u get a root canal. They take a picture before, they take at least 2 xrays while doing it and one afterwards. You can’t tell me that 4x the xray dosage is without consequences. Amd the 3d xray these days takes like 20-100+ pictures in a few seconds on ur whole jaw. Close to ur brain, close to ur thyroid. Ionizing radiation should be limited to the minimum.

      also, ionizing xray radiation on a flight or just by living on planet earth is spreaded on the whole body not a very small body part.

    A person with consistent mouth hygiene and a history of never having had cavities in specific areas doesnt have to get the yearly xrays imo or at least not that often as the average joe who has new cavities each year. Also my experience with xrays is that it often doesn’t show cavities in already filled teeth. Happened to me several times. I (43) never had a cavity on a new tooth since i am a teenager. It’s always been edge of filling cavities which almost never showed up on xrays.

    The airplane radiation for one hour at 35000 feet is 3.5 mrem. A dental xray is 0.4 mrem. (Btw the annual terrestrial radiation a person is exposed to is 21 mrem)

      @StephyGrowsWeed ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yea but focusing that 0.4 on a small jaw area or even multiple times as in a 3d xray or 4-5x of an xray during root canal is for sure more tissue damaging in that specific area than a flight when the load is spread on the whole body. That’s also why CT scans and 3d scans are not supposed to
      be done on babies and kids and only in emergencies.

      It is well-known that ionizing radiation can induce direct and indirect actions on biological cells. In the effects of direct ionization of cellular macromolecules, ionizing radiation can lead to a large number and different types of molecular damage in DNA by breaking the S-H, O-H, N-H, and C-H bonds of the molecules. Ionizing radiation can damage DNA, and although your cells repair most of the damage, they sometimes do the job imperfectly, leaving small areas of "misrepair." The result is DNA mutations that may contribute to cancer years down the road.

    HES CORRECT! RADIATION IS CUMULATIVE IT ALL ADDS UP AND DOES NOT LEAVE THE BODY!
    GET AN X-RAY IF YOU NEED ONE AND ALWAYS PROTECT YOURSELF WITH A LEAD COLLARED APRON EVEN IF THE TELL YOU YOU DONT NEED ONE BECAUSE TODAYS X-RAYS HAVE SO LITTLE RADIATION.

      obviously that effect is bigger in a panorama picture of ur whole jaw than on one of just one tooth. Bigger in a 3d xray than a normal one. Bigger in a CT than normal xray and bigger in a whole body CT than a body part CT. Bigger in a CT scan including thyroid, ovaries, testes etc…..

    Had to get a CT scan on my head and the doctor was like I have to inform you that this scan may increase your risk of cancer I nodded and said so does MacDonalds so let’s do the CT. Everything was grand thankfully just bruising from a concussion that was taking months to heal.

      Be for f-ing real. The lead apron is for the people being exposed to dozens of x-rays every single workday. Same way drinking 1 glass of water won't kill you, but drinking 100 consecutively will.

    I have a question. Why do dentist detect cavities under x rays? If they didn’t find it by looking at your mouth does it mean that they are small?

    • @angieSDlina
      @angieSDlina ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They are looking in between your teeth to detect cavities. The ones we check in your mouth are the top surface. 😁

    • @L1ttlef0ot
      @L1ttlef0ot ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I work in a dentist office. A fair amount of the time, there is decay under the surface of a tooth or under the gums that you can’t see with visual exam alone. So using an X-ray is way more accurate to see what’s actually happening
