+Richard M I think it's just because of the fact that besides the fact that it was a good raid, it was the first one, so it was the first time anybody experienced Destiny raids
This is still ones of the best fights in destiny. It's a shame it was cheesable until most players had surpassed the level requirement. It's just so intense, and really shows what kings fall challenge mode COULD have been. Bungie, PLZ give us a 325 vog challenge mode.
CK TRYS TO LV UP!!!! That's very true, vault was better then crota. But I actually really liked scolas. I mean, a challenge that was a challenge for three people was a big thing that was a lot of fun! Sure only a handful could do it, but I was one of them, and I mostly just had persistence! Bring back the prison of elders!
+Aaron Kent i respect you i rarely see any people who miss year 1 i miss year one and a lot of my friends i just wish that bungie did not make taken king because yea there is a lot new exotics but year one was the best now destiny is dieing and when destiny 2 comes out i dont think i even wanna look at it
+Allen Shamm Have you done it recently with the new TTK gear. It's hilarious because everything goes down in SECONDS. We got the Templar in not even a minute once it began the real fight without even using heavy weapons and only one of us had Black Spindle. You feel like the Time's Vengeance buff is always active and it's amazing. Also, I finally realized you don't need to do anything special with the Hunter's triple jump to make it across the jumping puzzle, even without the Bones of Eao. After over a year, I realized that, with a high enough agility and correct jump timing, you can pretty easily jump from the starting position down to the pathway to the door to begin the Atheon fight with plenty of room to spare. I was using a Nightstalker Hunter with triple jump and Keen Scout for extra agility, and I didn't have to use a single platform. I had a lot of room left on the platform, so I'm pretty sure this was possible with a Hunter in year one if they used max agility. Also, you could and can use the Bladedancer arc blade air slash technique, but, if you don't have your super or the Bladedancer subclass selected, this is amazing and works easily. Between this new revelation of exactly how much mobility and options we had while moving around and the fact that we did so much damage we just killed every Gorgon for fun made us feel like gods down there. You have to try it, it's amazing XD
I had to wait 10 months to finally get a Fatebringer to drop from this fight, and you know what? It was totally worth every last playthrough. VoG was beyond fun.
I really miss doing Vault of Glass (and Crota's End) every week, hoping I'd finally get the Mythoclast. Those were the good days - now we Destiny players have nothing to work for.
+Cat That's why I quit destiny. There's no real incentive in TTK. The raid is fun once or twice, but then it just gets boring and you get shit loot. There aren't any stand out weapons like VoC, Fatebringer, Mythoclast, Black Hammer, Hunger of Crota, etc.
+Cat ''now we Destiny players have nothing to work for.'' That is absolutely absurd. Unless the only things you consider working for are gamebreakingly OP and ruin any hint of diversity or balance. Not to mention that path you take to work towards said items is much better now.
Xeno guy lives True, true. But then again, the only reason I used Blackhammer is because Ghorn was a thing back then, so my opinion isn't very valid ^^
Raza582 Man I miss the days of when the streamers were trying to finish VoG for the first time and it took them days upon days to get that done, those streams were fun as hell to watch
As a kinderguardian I did the VoG last night for the first time (for the NTtE quest) and as hectic as that was I will never know the pain of underlevelled-on-release VoG. Thanks for the insight.
+pew___ Oh man, truly you will not know the pain of this fight. First off I played with PUGs for almost all my VoG raids so each time I had to figure out everyone's capabilities. Plus for Oracles it was mostly a Ice-Breaker exclusive club. Luckily I managed to get one a little after I started raiding. Then in the Templar fight a lot of the fireteams I grouped up with did the cheese where you use Sunsinger's Solar grenades and Striker Pulse grenades to push the Templar off the edge. So as a hunter I was basically useless. Sometimes you got fireteams where they actually did the fight legit but the relic holder was just god awful. Then blame was thrown around until everyone just left. Honestly Atheon was not that bad to fight after about 2-3 weeks because people started to learn the fight. Although there was always that one player who got teleported, grabbed the relic, and either didn't kill the adds or died to them. I will say, after killing Atheon on hard mode and seeing that Vex Mythoclast drop for the first time is one of my favorite moments in destiny. That and bringing that (at the time) overpowered, face melting, death rifle into the crucible. I'm sorry to everyone that died by my hands when I used that gun.
+kiwi159753 i totally feel you on this, when VoG first came out it was the same for me until i my friends finally got up to my level and i started doing raids with them weekly
Great video Datto. Made me want to go back into the Vault big time. I still can do that raid any day of the week and still have a blast. My clan did a similar nostalgia VoG run a while back. VoG weapons and Armor only (and Chatterwhite of course). What a great time.
Join the club, Khovostov, Strangers Rifle and favorite Y1 primary... hope Bungie gives players the chance to upgrade 1 weapon of each type to 310 from year 1... how christmas should have been
Going back and doing the Vault of Glass raid for the No Time to Explain mission was some of the most fun I've ever had with Destiny. Everyone was so laid back and we had the privilege of sherpa'ing someone who had never done the raid before. Was also fun watching everyone melt Atheon in 5 seconds as well.
The vault of glass raid armor was amazing, for all classes. So were the weapons. And the level of enjoyment, and the sense of exploration, and all of the hidden lore, etc. etc. etc.
+Cheezy Cheezemister Yeah, and I´m really getting sick of all that Hive stuff. I don´t hate them outright, but I just can´t bring myself to really like their design and architecture, and especially that ugly Hive armor from the Raids..... >.>
I am suprised it was that hard for them, my friends and I used to go into it with only VOG gear. It is a really fun thing to do! To any NEW players who have not done VOG yet, I would fully recommend finding a group of people and doing it. I think it is still the best raid they released!
Thinking of getting the shirt that datto is wearing in this vid... anyone know if it is one of the softer dry fit TYPE shirts? Or is it one of the more traditional stiff t-shirts? Would love to know!
I remember my first time doing VOG It was about a week after it came out I finally hit level 27 so I decided to go for it, found a group on the forums. The only legendary weapon I had was a shitty auto rifle, dont remember which one but I had a blue rocket launcher and a sniper. It was one of the best experiences when playing a video game that I can remember. I got boots praydeths revenge, corrective measure and Vision of Confluence. This was one of the best loot runs I ever had with VOG. I had such a great time that I proceeded to do VOG every week on tuesday for months and months because I loved it. I quit destiny after crota hard came out and I beat it. Picked it back up with the taken king and I miss vault of glass so much I want it to be relevant again so more people would play it.
To this very day, I still have my Lord High Fixer with Outlaw, Perfect Balance, Field Scout, Explosive Rounds, and Luck in the Chamber. Still on of my best rolls ever.
I remember when there were days that 29-30s ruled the land, and it really pissed me off when people couldn't stay alive being 2 whole levels above the completeable level that I used to do and that I was always being dragged down
Hey datto what about doing some new challenges on some of the old raids, you could lower your light level and equip old gear to equal lvl 29 again and run thruogh the old raids. What do you think?
It's weird how we look back to see how good year one actually was... At least it had content spread out for the year and we had stuff to look forward to
I done this with my old raid crew back when HoW dried up, we went through the Vault on hard mode at level 27, no Fatebringer, no Black Hammer/Icebreaker and no Gjallarhorn was allowed to be used. The entire raid had to be beaten legit, no cheesing allowed, all done as intended. The Legend Himself with Slayerage attempted this feat as well, they managed to clear it, its on his channel. Confluxes and Oracles took a few wipes but we got through it. Templar was a fucking nightmare, took us about 10 hours to do, crazy difficult. The gatekeepers were just pure hell, 3 days worth of trying on that to get through it, yes it is THAT difficult, everything in that room one shots you apart from goblins and praetorians are a fucker of an enemy. Atheon was bizarre, we actually done that part on our second try, only because of the immortal bubble in the middle made it easy to survive and the interior was being dealt with by players that had 2 manned the Vault comfortably and at level 30. Its a great challenge and one I don't think you can do anymore due to your level being 40 which is a shame.
hands down my favorite raid. I really wish theycould make it 320 version with upgrade to fatebringer and vision of Confluence since the imglo loop or whatever its called will not drop for me
i opened the first case in this raid (my first raid ever mind you), and i got the hawkmoon. all my friends were so jealous and one ragequit for a couple minutes
Hey, just because he is new to the game doesn't mean you should be mean to him! Be subtle about it. Say The Taint is a damage buff, tell him that the Spirit bloom chest makes you lose the chance to get an exotic. Fuck, take him to the loot cave.
New players to destiny that didn't play that first year after launch just have no idea... Destiny was so much more of a grind than it is now and so much more bare bones the more I think about it. The taken king was how destiny should have launched but corporate saw a complete game and said fuck that we can chop it up and make 3x as much!!! Destiny would be much more popular and probably would have made them more money if they had not done that. Nice job guys, Vault of Glass is among one of my most favorite raids to this day, across all the games that have them.
Wish they'd make VoG relevant again. One of the most unique experiences I've had in video games. Also CE was fun for me too, but I know lots of people like VoG way more.
VoG is still the best raid in my opinion
+Richard M I think it's just because of the fact that besides the fact that it was a good raid, it was the first one, so it was the first time anybody experienced Destiny raids
+Richard M my best 2 raid is king fall and vault of glass
+John Laceda I agree with that. Quality wise I think kings fall is just as good but it doesn't have that nostalgia factor that VoG does
That's not true , people in new in Y2 didn't do VoG first , why should they ?
Senne Goossens cause raid gear look cool?
This brought back so many great memories of Y1 Destiny. *LIK DIS IF YOU CRY EVERTIM*
Congrats on half a million subs Datto!
This is still ones of the best fights in destiny. It's a shame it was cheesable until most players had surpassed the level requirement. It's just so intense, and really shows what kings fall challenge mode COULD have been. Bungie, PLZ give us a 325 vog challenge mode.
+Aaron Kent PREACH! Same with crota. and I actually liked Poe, bring that back!
Have you seen Datto's video on this consept? It's pretty good, and makes a lot of scense. consider his point here.
+Warpriest I'm bad at spelling, never can get that word, "since" is what I meant..
This is why I love you Datto, you dont force people to watch through the video, you give them an option to skip through ( I personally never skip).
I miss this raid !! It was sooo much fun!! This was a work of art not just a raid !!
Oh how I miss these times 😭😭😞
no we dont miss shut uo
no we dont miss shut uo
no we dont miss shut up
no we dont miss shut up
no we dont miss shut up
That sweet Ice Breaker sound
For real, I remember getting my first one and playing the whole day just to unlock all the upgrades. Good times
+Mike Slayer I bought mine and then got it again from a Nightfall strike like a week later lol
+Mike Slayer me to lol grinding bounties on all charecters
VoG is still my favorite and always will be my favorite raid.
Same it was so much fun
It's also 1/3 of the raids? So not so difficult to find contender.
+Allen Shamm Have you done it recently with the new TTK gear. It's hilarious because everything goes down in SECONDS. We got the Templar in not even a minute once it began the real fight without even using heavy weapons and only one of us had Black Spindle. i still do it just because it's so fun
just completed VoG today. I'm gonna run it tomorrow as well. and the day after.
I had to wait 10 months to finally get a Fatebringer to drop from this fight, and you know what? It was totally worth every last playthrough. VoG was beyond fun.
"Forever 29"
Yep
Lol I subbed to you like a week ago and here you are. Supp Nushia?!
+Nushia vanilla destiny forever 29 too XD
+Evan Davies Hey thank you! And yeah I'm usually around Destiny channels :)
I was forever 27
The sound of icebreakers going off... Year 1 was the best experience I've had in ANY game.
I would say same but I didn't have D1 back then :(
I feel like I'm missing out on a ton of nostalgia.
Datto, you make such in depth videos and put a lot of quality into them. Keep on doing what you're doing man :)
I kinda want this destiny drought to last for awhile to see what kind of content destiny youtubers could possibly come up with
+nrs10001 lol its gonna be nostalgia runs of y1 strikes, classic crucible with y1 weapons and vog, crota and POE
nrs10001! YOU AGAIN! I know that thread was like a year ago but DAMN!
You have no idea of the stupid shit I have to create now that pvp is a snoozefest
+CammyCakes Gaming you calling your fans stupid?
todd from geico no im calling my own content stupid. But stupid in a funny way (the destiny parodies)
you should upload more old stuff like this datto, I really enjoyed how you guys tackled the raids back then
I really miss doing Vault of Glass (and Crota's End) every week, hoping I'd finally get the Mythoclast. Those were the good days - now we Destiny players have nothing to work for.
+Cat I get to look forward to praying to RNGesus for a 320 shell every Tuesday. Then drinking my sorrows away every Wednesday when I don't get one.
+Cat yeah me too
+Cat That's why I quit destiny. There's no real incentive in TTK. The raid is fun once or twice, but then it just gets boring and you get shit loot. There aren't any stand out weapons like VoC, Fatebringer, Mythoclast, Black Hammer, Hunger of Crota, etc.
LGxCP yep vault weapons is the best raid weapon but uhh atleast king fall raid sniper rifle pulse rifle and machine gun is good
+Cat
''now we Destiny players have nothing to work for.''
That is absolutely absurd. Unless the only things you consider working for are gamebreakingly OP and ruin any hint of diversity or balance. Not to mention that path you take to work towards said items is much better now.
This brings back so many nostalgic memories of early destiny I wish "year 2" never happened.
I miss my days of camping with the ice breaker waiting for it to recharge on the nightfall 😢😢
+Xeno guy lives Then Blackhammer came and said "Bitch please, I don't need time to recharge, I can go as many rounds as you want"(Sex joke)
John Laceda but it didnt have that cool sound tho :/ and u couldnt run around wasting it as you want (good joke BTW LOL)
Xeno guy lives True, true. But then again, the only reason I used Blackhammer is because Ghorn was a thing back then, so my opinion isn't very valid ^^
+Xeno guy lives When "last guardian standing" was actually a scary thing in the nightfall.

+pew___ Year 2 scrub
+Tucker Strawser 7408163163 1v1 me NLB kid
pew___ lol
this put the biggest smile on my face I miss this so much the stuggle just to beat 1 boss in vog oh how I miss you
Great video Datto. Made me want to go back into the Vault big time. I still can do that raid any day of the week and still have a blast. My clan did a similar nostalgia VoG run a while back. VoG weapons and Armor only (and Chatterwhite of course). What a great time.
Almost passed out from the nostalgic feelings
i remember watching this, stayed up so late, fell asleep before they finished, then kept waiting for it to be released :0
This vid taught me how to do most of vog for no time to explain thanks datto
I remember seeing this live. That was so long ago!
My favorite phase of destiny was dark below around January and February. Still remember doing my first raid
Congrats for over 500K+ subs!
Glad to see this is back, can you make some more of these?
Ayy you recorded this on my birthday. This was the day I first beat the Vault of Glass with my friends. Weird coincidence.
I still remember (and own) my baby, the vision of confluence. I played the entire taken King story on all three characters. You Will Be Remembered
All three characters with it*
Join the club, Khovostov, Strangers Rifle and favorite Y1 primary... hope Bungie gives players the chance to upgrade 1 weapon of each type to 310 from year 1... how christmas should have been
Vog is probably the most enjoyable activity in destiny I've ever played. I miss these times I'm not sure why though.
I remember watching this on stream! Didn't stay the whole time though cause it was taking a while
Going back and doing the Vault of Glass raid for the No Time to Explain mission was some of the most fun I've ever had with Destiny. Everyone was so laid back and we had the privilege of sherpa'ing someone who had never done the raid before.
Was also fun watching everyone melt Atheon in 5 seconds as well.
i picked it up on Black Friday and I'm barely doing that quest. I need a team to raid VoG ))):
+Leobardo Gonzalez do you still need help? I'm on Xbox one and can help
+Ryan Reitz I'm on ps4, dude. But thanks anyway!
+SnufflyRaccoon yo I know this is a while back but if you could help get a team together for normal that would be awesome ( GT Vengeance5714 )
The vault of glass raid armor was amazing, for all classes. So were the weapons. And the level of enjoyment, and the sense of exploration, and all of the hidden lore, etc. etc. etc.
+Cheezy Cheezemister Eh. In my opinion, the Hunter gear looked weird. But the helmet was pretty cool.
GuyWhu T33chLessn Still better than the kings fall armor though.
Cheezy Cheezemister You got a point there.
+Cheezy Cheezemister the gauntlet is pretty cool tho tbh
+Cheezy Cheezemister Yeah, and I´m really getting sick of all that Hive stuff. I don´t hate them outright, but I just can´t bring myself to really like their design and architecture, and especially that ugly Hive armor from the Raids..... >.>
Damn.. you guys are the most efficient players I have ever seen!
I remember watching this on stream. Good times
I remember watching this on stream. Ahh memories.
I am suprised it was that hard for them, my friends and I used to go into it with only VOG gear. It is a really fun thing to do! To any NEW players who have not done VOG yet, I would fully recommend finding a group of people and doing it. I think it is still the best raid they released!
Very good you should show more old clips i miss year 1
VOG is still so much fun to play from beginning to end.
The good old days. How I miss them.
I remember soloing templar back in the day. Most intense thing I have ever experienced in a video game.
I really want to do the raids again with the year one gear.
You have the same t-shirt as me. This is amazing (lord shaxx quote)
Ah yes, good times. I miss year 1 Destiny now...
same
I miss vault of glass y1 but crucible no just no
+Arcliff7 Yo its Nepgear :p yay
Honestly, if I take off my nostalgia goggles for a sec, Year 2-3 are the best.
This brings back some memories
Kings fall was hard the first couple weeks, now it's a piece of cake
templar is still my favorite boss fight. so much fun when running relic
good fight, brind back some memories!!
I think it would be kinda cool to see both the first attempt of the challenge(a fail) and the last one(the victory).
Cool new Channel Logo Datto
man the nostalgia,i FUCKING love year 1 ...
RIP year 1....best experience I've had in any game, I still love destiny this year except it just don't feel the same
the screen cap has The Lord High Fixer. I still own mine. man I miss running vog still can't get my praetorian foil.
ahhh the nostalgia. I miss VoG sooooo much!!
Thinking of getting the shirt that datto is wearing in this vid... anyone know if it is one of the softer dry fit TYPE shirts? Or is it one of the more traditional stiff t-shirts? Would love to know!
You should get special challenge loot or an emblem or something for doing an encounter a level or two down
and yeah the templar was the best
Amazing Datto :D
I remember my first run on vog, oh boy I was so under level, man did it kick our ass
Skipperino Dattoreino 2:39
+liam greaney Lol I thought the exact same thing when he put the time up on the screen
Wow shit. Sorry didn't mean to spam that.
This was recorded on my birthday... Nice
I remember my first time doing VOG It was about a week after it came out I finally hit level 27 so I decided to go for it, found a group on the forums. To this very day, I still have my Lord High Fixer with Outlaw, Perfect Balance, Field Scout, Explosive Rounds, and Luck in the Chamber. Still on of my best rolls ever.
I remember watching this live it took forever
was someone using a praedyths revenge? i seen a sniper that looked like it. If that's against the rules or not
Man I miss year 1. Those were the days
I remember this stream it was awesome
I still have my lord high fixer, i was using it in crimson doubles for fun. ahh the good old days
I remember when there were days that 29-30s ruled the land, and it really pissed me off when people couldn't stay alive being 2 whole levels above the completeable level that I used to do and that I was always being dragged down
Ahh, those were the days, perma detain on Templar, no times vengeance on Atheon, constant death on the way to the exotic chest.
R.I.P. MadKing. The feels were just too damn high
Those days ❤
Hey datto what about doing some new challenges on some of the old raids, you could lower your light level and equip old gear to equal lvl 29 again and run thruogh the old raids. What do you think?
+Kanen Martinez that would be kinda tricky... seeing that the current leveling system now, you'll get from 29 to 30+ in no time...

Its a great challenge and one I don't think you can do anymore due to your level being 40 which is a shame.
the good memories of destiny
I feel ashamed I quit a while ago and I wish I could get back in but it's almost impossible. I need help getting back in
Just got here? Let me sum up the comments for you: Year 1 Nostalgia, that's literally it.
Datto I miss your night fall solo videos
It took me 100+ templar runs to get fatebringer... Yet, these were still the best destiny days
Datto I like the new profile pic. Keep up the good work!!
the good ol' days
I'm watching this and wishing that light was not affected by marks, bonds, and cloaks so that I could wear that Titan mark again.
hands down my favorite raid. I really wish theycould make it 320 version with upgrade to fatebringer and vision of Confluence since the imglo loop or whatever its called will not drop for me
the good days
i opened the first case in this raid (my first raid ever mind you), and i got the hawkmoon. all my friends were so jealous and one ragequit for a couple minutes
The good ol days
is that a new armor piece ?
What piece? You mean Kabrs Wrath?
oh lord, this right here boys is what you call a kindergaurdian
what an idiot
what an idiot
Hey, just because he is new to the game doesn't mean you should be mean to him! Be subtle about it. Say The Taint is a damage buff, tell him that the Spirit bloom chest makes you lose the chance to get an exotic. Fuck, take him to the loot cave.
you know the video is old when a streamer isnt titan skating
Oh Ice Breaker, my beloved Ice Breaker T_T (cries in anguish)
What do you think about the weekly update?
Oh god, the feels
Hey datto you should do Vault of Glass on hard mode using gunsmith weapons only for a challenge mode
AYYYY recorded on my birthday :D
New players to destiny that didn't play that first year after launch just have no idea... Destiny was so much more of a grind than it is now and so much more bare bones the more I think about it.

Nice job guys, Vault of Glass is among one of my most favorite raids to this day, across all the games that have them.
ah the good old days, year two players the game may be better but you will never know the great times you missed, RIP Year One
does hycubis even play with them anymore?
I miss this fight :(
Ah...,Year 1 The Good ol' days
Wish they'd make VoG relevant again. One of the most unique experiences I've had in video games. Also CE was fun for me too, but I know lots of people like VoG way more.
