Tiaran83 Awh so humbling! Thank you for your comment. We really wanted to create that feeling of viewers traveling along side of us so this is great to hear! I hope our vlogs inspire you to travel (and EAT)!
hi guys! im going to Japan in a week. i have watched every Japan vlog there is on youtube & i have to say your vids are so informative. you show & talk about everything & not just pass over it like other vids. GREAT JOB!
Thanks for your feedback! It's nice to know what we should have and shouldn't have in our vlogs so we really appreciate your comment! So excited for you!!! Where are you going in Japan? Let us know if you have any specific questions about Japan travel, would love to help! :)
We didn't even notice omg! I think because it was our first day and we were just so overwhelmed with everything that it was hard to take everything in haha. We sure do dance when it comes to good food and good music. Thanks for watching!
I was in there two weeks ago and God I miss Japan so much. Such a nice experience! Great vlog really, it made me miss Japan even more. Loved the vlog, just great!
This is so well-done for your first video... damn, what I would do for some gindaco right now... Both of you seem so polite and nice. About to run through the rest of these vlogs of yours and look forward to your next trip. keep up the good work.
I know I commented a few seconds ago but really, thanks for watching our vlogs. Hope you enjoyed the series :) Stay tuned for more and hopefully, we will be going back to Japan within the next year
Emx Lovie Ohhhh goodie! I'm glad this was helpful! Hopefully I have most of my Japan vlogs up by the time you leave so you can get more recommendations! You're going to have a blast over there. And love the pancakes! So excited for you 😆
Hi Shirleyyy! Thanks for watching. I hope it was of some value to you! Subscribe if you want to stay posted on future uploads or come back weekly ^_________^
I'm Japanese , and I have enjoyed your videos. The elderly man said“kawaii” and “iiotoko” (23:47). You know “kawaii” means “cute”, and “iiotoko” means “good looking guy”.
When I’m older I wanna move to Japan I don’t know why it’s just so cool there and I won’t look like a weirdo there because it’s weird liking anime in my school ;-;
Hey guys~~ i had just finished edited a video!! ( sorry not the NY one yet lol ) ... but in Australia , i went to this light show. it is so amazing!!! that would be your next destination, although u might need longer than a weekend for that XD let me know what u think :) speak soon xoox
Hello ^_^ just came across with your videos, i really really like it. A very nice reference for our Japan travel. May I know what month and date did you go to Japan? Thanks!!!! Good job! 😀👍
Thanks for watching and commenting! Very glad it helps with your trip planning. When are you guys going?! We went last January around the 15th I believe and stayed there for 2 1/2 weeks!
Came across your first Japan blog and watched all the rest in the same night!! My hubby and I are going to Kyoto, Tokyo and Tokyo Disneyland in November and your videos have been just so informative and you guys are so much fun to watch!!! I'll be keeping an eye out to see if you post the informational vlog you mentioned maybe doing! One question for you- I saw that you said that you shoot with a canon g7x, but how do you manage to shoot so spot on when you have it facing you and shooting? I'd be all crooked!!
wallis coppola wallis coppola Hey! Thanks for checking us out and binge watching us 😂. We can't even do it ourselves. That is so exciting, you guys are for sure going to have a blast! We didn't go to Disneyland unfortunately but next time. From what I see in other vlogs, it looks super fun. Are you guys gonna do Disney Sea as well? And lolol so we have the g7x on a tripod and the tripod has a level which helps but what helps the most is the camera screen's ability to flip over so we can see what exactly we are recording!
wkndtravelers we are doing Disney Sea as well!! We are huge Disney fans and usually go to wdw at least twice a year so the Tokyo trip is half for Disney and the other half for exploring Japan! Didn't realize about the flip screen!!! That would def help solve my crooked problem! Thanks for letting me know!!
wkndtravelers I'm going to try to! It would be the first try at it- my husband is a big photographer but still photos, not videos- I've always wanted to try but I'm not the most creative!
You should definitely do it. Do it for yourselves cause in a year or more, you will be so happy you did it cause you will always have something to look back on. Even after a month, the videos I took make me so happy when I watch them :)
islandbaby That we would agree because we did buy some strawberries and boy was that the best tasting strawberry ever! Have you had any of their fruits? Thanks for watching btw!
Hey girl! Thanks for watching us and commenting! Unfortunately, all of our apartments that we rented on airbnb are not available anymore. I am keeping an active eye on them though and will let you know if the listing pops up!
Annie W LOL you're right I didn't even notice. Even during an emergency, the are still incredibly resentful. I would be too stressed to talk to people who are in the way haha.
Going to japan in oct. Did u stay in one airbnb and commute everyday or stayed in diff apt each place? What do u suggest more economical ?Love ur vlog ! , can u tell me also what month you were there so we can bring proper attire .lastly you mentioned u were born here but where are your parents originated from? Thank you much!!
Hello there! That is very exciting. We stayed in a total of 3 different apartments (2 in Tokyo and 1 in Kyoto). So our trip was basically 3 days in Tokyo, then 4 days in Kyoto (commuted to Nara and Osaka), then the rest of our days back in Tokyo. We went in January so it was pretty cold. I believe it will be cold in October too so bring a jacket and some sweaters! Yes I was born here but my parents are both from Vietnam. My mother is Vietnamese and my father is 100% Chinese. So I am mixed. Magnum (the guy you see in the vlogs) was also born here. His mother is Hmong and his father is Thai so he's mixed as well! Thanks so much for watching us Lydia, feel free to ask us any questions on here or our email at wkndtravelers@gmail.com
Kelly Cobler Yeah we totally would! Shibuya and Shinjuku are fairly similar. Shinjuku has a more party feel to it, lots of restaurants and bars everywhere. Kinda has a street market feel to it. Shibuya has more of a mall/department store vibe when I think about it. Either one would be great and easy to commute to and from.
Hey guys! Came across your vlog! Pretty cool first day. We are going in April so we are just watching Japan vlogs! Did you guys end up going to Disney Tokyo?
Hey! Thank you, really appreciate your comment! That sounds very exciting. Our second Japan vlog should come up today or tomorrow so stay tuned! Unfortunately we did not go to Disney Sea or Disneyland. But we've been told that Disney Sea is more for adults and Disney Land is more for kids so keep that into consideration!
wkndtravelers nice! Just subbed to your channel so will wait for your vlogs! Yeah the wife and I are big Disney fans well mainly her lol so we are def doing both parks of Disney! Our youngest one will be with us as well. If you want to check out our family vlogs, feel free to check out my channel anytime. 👍🏼
Awesome! We will definitely sub yours too. We are excited for you guys cause Japan is AMAZING. I've seen some vlogs on disneyland and it looks very fun! All the disney character shaped food looks awesome haha. The second video is up now so enjoy! And we also wish you guys a great trip and we'll be watching.
pocali sweat is not healthy by itself. It's a good way to recover your 'lost water and minerals' (sweat) after/during some exercise. Otherwise, it's similiar to drinking soda, although not that high in calories.
Hi guys can u suggest if its better to change yen in japan or in the states and how much roughly each person pocket money just for food for two week stay? Thanks guys you're such a cute couple!
Hello again Lydia! It is better to exchange in the US at your local bank as the exchange rates are always better here than at the airports and Japan. Everyone eats differently so I will just give a range haha. If you are bringing money just for food for two weeks, I'd say $500-$800 per person for the two weeks. You will most likely need money for transportation as well so I'd say bring as much as you can per person. If you don't feel safe bringing that much money with you-there is another way we found to get money in Japan when we ran out which is using the ATM's at 7 Eleven convenient stores. Their exchange rates are not bad compared to other places in Japan. Just make sure you call in to let your bank know your card will be used in Japan so they don't block it. *Also just a friendly reminder, make sure you call your banks to find out which locations carry Japanese yen and make sure they have the amount you need. Then go and get it right away before they run out. I suggest doing this a week or more before you leave as Magnum and I did it a couple days before and it was not a good idea hahaha. Hope this helped! Sorry if its long, I like to be very detailed
Hi Guys. Could you let us know the host of your airbnb where you stayed as we would like to check the place since it looks very accessible to the city center. thanks guys!
Yeah sure! The apartment we stayed at in this video is unfortunately not an available listing right now. I will let you know if I see it back up on the site. I will give you our other two airbnbs in case you'd like to stay there. For Tokyo (this is an iffy one when it comes to cleanliness. It is a modern place, but the cleaners sometimes don't do a good job. If you don't mind, you can always book and ask for cleaners if its not clean) www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788 For Kyoto (this place was the best one we have ever stayed at, our favorite place. It is clean and simple) www.airbnb.com/rooms/10146912
hi, I'm going to Japan on January next year, can you tell me all the apartments u guys stayed in ? :) Also, since I'm from South East Asia, which dont really have winter season, I dont have enough winter attire like gloves, etc and it's kinda pricey here. Did you guys see if the winter clothes there are on sale in January ?
Hi there! Thanks for checking us out. Below I will have a list of links to our airbnbs. In Japan, I have seen some decent priced winter attire. Gloves can be from $2-$5 US dollars in Japan. As for winter clothes, I think you can get decent winter clothes under $10-15 US dollars. I got a lot at UNIQLO and GU (two very popular stores in Japan). I am not sure which country you are from but if I did I would convert the currency for you! Which southeastern country are you from?
hi :) thanks for the info. I'm from Indonesia, and my name is Andre. I think the price you mentioned is pretty affordable. We dont have GU in Indo and only UNIQLO, but I recalled the winter clothes are more expensive compared to what you said and the design are quite limited (since we dont have winter anyways lol) My friend and I decided to rent air bnb instead of hotel after watching you always had breakfast from the convenience store and it all looked delicious so we're gonna do that too and will need the microwave we got from air bnb. Anyway, thanks for the vlog. I hope you dont mind if I ask some stuff later on when I prepare my trip more in detail :) and if you're planning to visit Indo or Bali, just let me know and I can recommend lots of stuff to do here
ninetyoneliner I just realized I did not give you the list of links haha!!! I'm so sorry I responded at midnight with one eye open. Hope you can understand. Did you guys still want the links although I read you might have rented an airbnb already? Yeah Uniqlo and GU should be pretty affordable in Japan cause their stores in the states are a little more expensive with not much selection either. And yes, convenient store food is the best way to go! If you don't have a microwave, most convenient stores offer to microwave your food for you. Thanks so much for messaging us! So neat your from Indonesia. We will definitely message you if we ever visit! Sounds amazing from what I've heard. My dad use to live there for a few years back in the day.
Sounds great! Below I posted 2 of the 3 places I stayed. The first tokyo apartment in Vlog 1 is actually not available on airbnb anymore but I will let you know if I ever see it pop up again. Kyoto (Probably the best one we've stayed in, super clean and nice) www.airbnb.com/rooms/10146912 Tokyo (It was the one where we had the bad experience of it not being cleaned prior to us arriving but it is a nice place) www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788 I suggest looking around too and compare. Look for places that say it is close to public transportation and read read read the reviews! They will help you a lot!
Hello there! The place we stayed at in this video for some reason is no longer available on airbnb but I will link our other places we stayed at as well. Tokyo www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788 Kyoto www.airbnb.com/rooms/10146912
Hey there again! Sorry for such a delayed response. We'd say for spending money at a comfortable level, $650-1000 a person per week would be good. This excludes flights and accommodations though. Accommodations and flights vary depending on deals but for us, we (2 individuals) spent about $2000 total for round trip flights and 2 weeks of accommodations.
what kinda seats did u guys sit in im just curious becuase im going soon and im so scared imma just be sitting staring at someones back if i get coach lol 😂😂😂
Jenny Jinx Hey hey!!! We sat in coach! International flights most likely will have some sort of entertainment for you. I'm sure you won't be staring at someone's back lmfao
LSDWI Hey hey! We stayed in an airbnb (rented a persons apartment out) in Shinjuku. Unfortunately the listing of this place is down but I will definitely link it to you if I see it ever go back up.
Hey there! Someone else also asked me this question! So I just looked it up on my airbnb account and it is not available on there anymore :( But I will link the other places we stayed at below. I will keep an eye out though and let you know if I do see it again. Tokyo www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788 Kyoto www.airbnb.com/rooms/10146912
Thank you! You should set up a blog to write about your detailed itinerary and cost of travelling in Japan! Just a thought hehe. I would love to know roughly how much is the cost to travel in Japan :)
Wani Sabaruddin Thanks for your comment and idea! We were actually thinking of doing some informative videos since our Japan series is over now. I haven't thought about a blog but I'll see if I can squeeze that in! Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any other ideas :)
Oh! And to answer your question on cost, our trip was 14 days. I'd say a good trip would be $1000 per adult per week (not including flight and hotel). This money would go towards food, shopping, souvenirs, transportation, admission fees, etc)
wkndtravelers oh lol sorry I thought you guys were from Chicago since you flew from Chicago. BTW love the Vlogs!!! I'm planning to go to japan for 2 weeks in summer 2019 🙌🏼 I'm trying to binge watch any videos from japan to see how everything is and why places to go. I'm actually also looking at airbnb as well. I'm from Chicago that's why I ask ☺️
Yeah totally get why you'd think that although Chicago is like our second home. We go there at least 3 times a year since its only a 50 min flight! Thanks for watching us! I hope our videos are hyping you up for your trip! It is so WORTH it. We actually are talking about going back already. Let us know if you ever have any questions :)
Hey there! Thanks so much for stopping by. The apartment we stayed at in this video is unfortunately not an available listing right now. We will let you know if we see it back up on the site. Misinformation on flying international - not all airlines have free beer and wine on their flights and not all airlines carry alcohol due to their religious backgrounds

I'm Japanese , and I have enjoyed your videos. The elderly man said“kawaii” and “iiotoko” (23:47). You know “kawaii” means “cute”, and “iiotoko” means “good looking guy”.

23:47 He said いい男(ii otoko)=handsome guy. I totally agree with him. You guys are both attractive.
Was the octopus in the takoyaki tender or a bit chewy?

As for winter clothes, I think you can get decent winter clothes under $10-15 US dollars. I got a lot at UNIQLO and GU (two very popular stores in Japan). I am not sure which country you are from but if I did I would convert the currency for you! Which southeastern country are you from?
hi :)
thanks for the info. I'm from Indonesia, and my name is Andre.
I think the price you mentioned is pretty affordable. We dont have GU in Indo and only UNIQLO, but I recalled the winter clothes are more expensive compared to what you said and the design are quite limited (since we dont have winter anyways lol)
My friend and I decided to rent air bnb instead of hotel after watching you always had breakfast from the convenience store and it all looked delicious so we're gonna do that too and will need the microwave we got from air bnb.
Anyway, thanks for the vlog. I hope you dont mind if I ask some stuff later on when I prepare my trip more in detail :)
and if you're planning to visit Indo or Bali, just let me know and I can recommend lots of stuff to do here
ninetyoneliner I just realized I did not give you the list of links haha!!!
Your list would be nice bcs we're still looking for the air bnb for the last few nights in Tokyo.
Thanks
Sounds great! Below I posted 2 of the 3 places I stayed. The first tokyo apartment in Vlog 1 is actually not available on airbnb anymore but I will let you know if I ever see it pop up again.
Kyoto (Probably the best one we've stayed in, super clean and nice)
www.airbnb.com/rooms/10146912
Tokyo (It was the one where we had the bad experience of it not being cleaned prior to us arriving but it is a nice place)
www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788
I suggest looking around too and compare. Look for places that say it is close to public transportation and read read read the reviews! They will help you a lot!
Hello, do you have a link to the airbnb you guys stayed at?
Hello there! The place we stayed at in this video for some reason is no longer available on airbnb but I will link our other places we stayed at as well.

what type of cam you used for vlogging?
We vlog with our Canon G7X!
by the way, i will be in NY on the 5th-6-7th where will u guys be at?
Erica doko Hey! We will be in Texas and Florida! Great travels to you!
How much money would you need to save up for a trip like this, plus buying expenses and other stuff like that?
Hey there again! Sorry for such a delayed response. We'd say for spending money at a comfortable level, $650-1000 a person per week would be good. This excludes flights and accommodations though. Accommodations and flights vary depending on deals but for us, we (2 individuals) spent about $2000 total for round trip flights and 2 weeks of accommodations.
wkndtravelers Ok thank you.
whats up with the huge parka haha come on it cant be that cold lol
It was pretty cold, especially if you're walking outside for long periods of time- about 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit.
I wanna go to Japan 😫
Rocio Sarabia Yeah...we totally want to go soon too 😂
21 pilots started playing lol
what flight did you guys take?
Hey! We took American Airlines to Beijing for a layover and Japan Airlines to Japan.
what kinda seats did u guys sit in im just curious becuase im going soon and im so scared imma just be sitting staring at someones back if i get coach lol 😂😂😂
Jenny Jinx Hey hey!!! We sat in coach! International flights most likely will have some sort of entertainment for you. I'm sure you won't be staring at someone's back lmfao
oh thank god thanks for the info guys i love your vlogs makes me more excited to go :)
You are super welcome! Let us know if you ever have any questions! Super excited for you to go!
What hotel did you guys stay in?
LSDWI Hey hey! We stayed in an airbnb (rented a persons apartment out) in Shinjuku. Unfortunately the listing of this place is down but I will definitely link it to you if I see it ever go back up.
So Osaka for night viewing on high ground. Umeda building or Abeno. Thanks
Thank you for your recommendation! Unfortunately, we were not able to go to the buildings for night views :(
Hi! May I know which Airbnb u guys stayed in? :)
Hey there! Someone else also asked me this question! So I just looked it up on my airbnb account and it is not available on there anymore :( But I will link the other places we stayed at below. I will keep an eye out though and let you know if I do see it again.

Thank you so much for your info. It also helps to know where to buy cheap fridge magnets for souvenirs to bring back home :)
what camera do you use?
Guitarplyr89 Hello there! We use the Canon G7x.
Are you guys from Chicago?
Melinda Coria No- we're from Minneapolis, Minnesota :D
wkndtravelers oh lol sorry I thought you guys were from Chicago since you flew from Chicago.
Let us know if you ever have any questions :)
wkndtravelers okay thank you so much ^-^
they are right! these girl is really Kawaii :D
You should hear her laugh, then she won't be kawaii anymore XD hahaha
airbnb link please.
I guess those men said "otoko mae" which means handsome.
Oh I see! Now it makes a little more sense. I just got otoko which I understood as "man". Thank you for clarifying!
Hi , if possiabe could you please send me the link to your airbnb thank 👍
Hey there! Thanks so much for stopping by. The apartment we stayed at in this video is unfortunately not an available listing right now. We will let you know if we see it back up on the site. I will give you our other two airbnbs in case you'd like to stay there.
For Tokyo (this is an iffy one when it comes to cleanliness. It is a modern place, but the cleaners sometimes don't do a good job. If you don't mind, you can always book and ask for cleaners if its not clean)
www.airbnb.com/rooms/10910788
For Kyoto (this place was the best one we have ever stayed at, our favorite place. It is clean and simple)

Must improve chopstick skills, son!
meestaShin I know I know 😂😩
Misinformation on flying international - not all airlines have free beer and wine on their flights and not all airlines carry alcohol due to their religious backgrounds
KiwiRugbyTravelStories Thanks for the correction! That makes sense.
Who are u people that didnt know pocari... Alien in asian face
can u private message me a link to that airbnb? i think it's GREAT for that price!
Yes I can! Do you want me to link it to you on here or through private email? It was a steal. We would stay again.
wkndtravelers private message please :)
I can't seem to find a way to private message you on here but feel free to email me at wkndtravelers@gmail.com
