    It's the attention to detail that makes you one of the best woodworkers on TH-cam. Great build and a very clean look.

      You're right Indy. Small details, most of times make the diference.

    You're work has such a careful, thoughtful feel to it. This is the most elegant 'planter build' I have seen on TH-cam and I have seen many.

    VERY impressive little project! I do have to make one observation though. I don't have a miter saw, but I do have a radial arm saw that could work perfectly doing the notches on the bottom of the legs. Having seen this video, it definitely gives me some inspiration to try it.

      If it were an issue, when fully dry just dab each one with some silicone or better yet mix up some epoxy and fill them that way. Theoretically they could be an issue long term because they act like a tiny channel for water to infiltrate. Easy to solve nonetheless.

    Great video Jon, I'm looking forward to building this project soon. I'm from north Texas and I've been shopping around trying to find the wood you used (Red Grandis) and am not having any luck. Is there another name for that type of wood. Once again, thanks for the videos and I always look forward to your videos.

      Thanks! I’m not sure but I know April often uses Cedar for outdoor projects… maybe Cedar is less expensive In Texas then it is here in NJ and it’s also a good wood for a planter.

    Beautiful, thought the wife was going to love them, but she regulated them to the sidewalk for moringa shrubs and wants a tall tapered look for the porch. Pointed me to junk big box cedar fencing pickets nailed together on Pinterest.
    Talk about picking a Yugo over a Mustang, meh.
    Maybe math combined with your design and tapered legs instead? Breaks out tape measure and pencil.
    P.S. Your videos might just be medicinal, I have to track my blood pressure for the Doc, and I find watching one of your videos first drops mine a solid five points :)

    • @JonPetersArtHome
      @JonPetersArtHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks John, that’s awesome! … i’m actually planning another planter build for next month… It’s going to be about 30 inches tall and have tapered legs about 12 inches wide and 35 inches long so more of a rectangle.

    When making the first bevel cuts on the legs you stated the height of the blade is 1/4”. Is that at 45° or 90° before setting the angle?

    • @JonPetersArtHome
      @JonPetersArtHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it’s best to make the cuts on a test piece first and check the height of the blade for both cuts.
