SHIRLEY VERRETT was one of the greatest ever...... She went from Mezzo to Soprano and switched back and forth. She was able to accomplish this like no other female singer. I cherish my Verrett recordings and absolutely venerate her. REST, well, Dear Miss Verrett.

Until.one of them with good criteria said.I can tell who sings it best.But it doesn't coincide with who moves it best.In this aria in particular you have to step very strongly...The idea of the cape is very important because it helps her develop the part immensely.And How she moves it.. You should sometimes consider these things plus the fact that a mezz sorano for me is the ideal tessitura.

Sometimes they can be a soprano and others a mezzo. I m not surprised about the long ovation.Very good election. And of course,you ll love the part of Macbeth with one of uour favourite baritones... Il y a eû d'autres interprètes qui ont été magnifiques dans ce rôle : Léonie Rysanek, Elisabeth Connell, Birgit Nilsson, Grace Bumbry, Renata Scotto, Gwyneth Jones, Raina Kabaiwanska, Christa Ludwig, Ghena Dimitrova... Il serait temps qu'on déloge la Callasmanie du répertoire lyrique. L'ovation pour Shirley Verrett a été plus que méritée. Quelle merveille!

She's behind so often throughout. It's not the delay from the singer to the pit, the conductor and Verrett are not agreeing on the tempo. It's clear.
He doesn't seem to care if she cannot breathe. It's a heavy voice, to go faster would ruining her singing.
