It's proof WotC ramped down their broken card mentality, and once the old busted stuff rotates out, Standard will be at an overall lower power level. It's healthy for the game, just takes time to rid past mistakes.

I don't know....I wouldn't hold your breath. Rogues already had everything it needed so it makes sense that there weren't many new cards to slot it. Temur adventures has only revised because Lucky Clover and Escape to the Wilds were banned but was another example of a deck that just had everything it needed and very little room for experimentation. Kaldheim put Sultai Ultimatum and Monored over the top so it's not like it didn't affect the meta in big ways.

At about 16:30 CGB starts to have fun playing rouges. It's funny how quickly you can forget your hate of rouges when you're the person wielding the deck.
My kids walk in on me watching this video and say, "Daddy, CGB looks different."
Me: "That's because that's not CGB."
Kids: "But it looks like him. Who is it then?"
Me: "It's CGB's evil twin brother, ECGB."
Kids: Roll their eyes and walk away. "You'll believe anything, won't you..."

A lot more healthy compared to 2019-2020, sure rogues are annoying but they can be dealt with fairly easily.

@@ThisIsToXiN no like he's right, the current meta is still better than having 90% of high level competitive decks being simic something. Not saying it doesn't still get stale but there's at least a few different competitive decks with different angles of attack at the top of the meta
@@ThisIsToXiN mono red farms Rogues and is the best deck for laddering and also the most played in Bo1. It was a good meta call for the kaldheim championship because nobody was going to play aggro after the last tournament and that's primarily rogues worst matchups.

Loved the transition to Evil CGB :D This is a guy, I wouldn't wanna meet in a dark alley, to play Magic with.
However no ultimatums, I was in diamond two yesterday with a homebrew monowhite, after win and lose to some ultimatums and rogues in the ladder I just decided to play a similar version of rogues heavy in counter, I just lost two times to a monowhite and a monored deck, and mostly by errors or bad choices. After two easy wins to ultimatums I just bought the dimir avatar and went to the dark side. Next month i think I will play rogues in ladder to get to mythic and play jank there.
I always imagined Evil CGB to be a Dimir player to compliment normal Azurious Control CGB ... so Rouges are a great fit haha.

I watched almost every minute of the Kaldheim Championship. I was rooting for Sultai or one of the Adventure Dragon builds, but I have to say, Arne played his Rogues deck better than any rogues player I have ever seen on ladder. His patience and intuition were flawless.

I gotta admit I've been playing rogues on the ladder, and the only real change from this list is swapping Agadeem's out for Raise the Draugr (a Kaldheim card!). But even I agree, we gotta nerf rogues.
That's actually a pretty good card for rogues now that you mentioned it. Cheap, 2-for-1 and instant speed to go along with your rogues with flash.
@@KreuzDrache And especially in the Lurrus version you almost never get back more than the two rogues with Agadeem's anyway. so RtD is same mana efficiency 90% of the time.

The difference between the decks is almost null.
I think blocking the Enforcer while the shield is down works. As I understand it, the shield prevents the 1 damage deathtouch considers lethal damage. May not have mattered but still an interesting interaction.

I just realized that my last several comments on your videos have been sodium bombs, so I need to be nice for a change.... Aside from Agadeem, which could be swapped for Death-Dweller, you have a Lurrus and 4 Thought Thieves...5 rares, the rest budget.... MTG did succeed in creating a deck that allows people w/o a lot of money to actually win tournaments.... Being nice to Rogues feels gross...
No lie, the cheapness of the deck is why I'm seriously considering them. At least a Historic version.

Observations :
1 : I and all of us can't stand rogues.
2 : Glad that Arne won the MC, deserved it.
3 : Picking Rogues in this tournament environement was, no matter what, a smart idea.
4 : Ladder's gonna be a nightmare full of guys thinking they can play it like him.
5 : Let's have a pre-strixhaven Kroxa run.
Auras aren't played enough imo. They are super strong with Yorion and a pretty good counter to Rouges. I hardly have issues with them on ladder- but hey I'm just some regular guy that gets stomped by Sultai ultimatum
End of that last game, that was clearly gleeful CGB. Can't blame that one on CGH

I’m so sick of rogues. I play them half the time in ladder and it is impossible to win against them as a control player. It’s just such a frustrating deck to play against. It’s Agro with bill built into it with absurdly powerful card draw so they never un out of steam. I even try and play kroxa, because it seems like it would be good, but it still gets crushed by its absolute bullshit mechanics. You either. Have a deck be agro with no card draw or control with card draw. It’s like they decided what if we give agro crazy card draw.

Is agadeem's awakening better than call of the death dweller for rogues? I don't see it, but all the netdecks run it...
I feel the card is a lot more versatile than Call of the Death Dweller. It can be played as a land in pinch and while more expensive, it can bring back Lurrus too if needed. That being said, Call of the Death Dweller is also very good for rogues too.
Agadeem clears some slots (2-3) for other cards in your deck being two-sided. You can have more reactive cards to kill or counter something.
