I've loved seeing the cgb evolution of "I like the rogues deck" to "rogues is the epitome of scum" lol
Too much of a good thing. The rogues deck is a good deck, and it's fun to play. But when every other match is rogues, it gets old really fast. Plus is combines all the things that people hate to go against: removal, counters, mill, card draw, and aggro.
Well, Sultai has become the same epitome as them, at least there is more interaction with sleazy rogue millers.

mono white is way more played and is also way more stronger than rogues

Man, this feels lika good deck. As in a Team Good deck, fighting the fight against evil the cats and elves, giants and humans, squirell and so forth joins up to fight the good fight.

I just got back into playing MTGA after not having played at all since late December. Watching this video makes me realize I need to watch this channel just to know what I'll be facing on any given day. I hadn't watched today's video yet when I went up against the deck featured not knowing what it was. I scryed an Erebos's Intervention to the bottom and then didn't have it for the Toski. I drew none of my other exile effects and I would've likely won had I not done that. Lesson learned.
I don't know how CGB has not cracked open all the time spiral remastered boxes behind him there. But I suppose he does have patience as a win con 😂

Also though it was a good idea to save the inkeeper for an adventure but if it could have attacked along side your other critters when you top decked Felidar Retreat they would have been forced to chump with both cats and you probs win on the following turn

I dont know about brushfire because it doesn't trigger the card draw effect of edgewall innkeeper. But a hasty landfall creature, with some counters on it, that cant be blocked by small creatures sounds very convincing. Will try it in my version of this :)

I know what you mean. I'm down to only playing Brawl just to get my dailies done for cards and gold. I occasionally play Quick Drafts and just pick cards I don't have to complete collections. I might duck out until the D&D set comes out. Just too many broken cards and net-deck players that I can't beat as a casual player with my home-brew decks. I miss having fun with this game. :(
But thanks for doing it every day for the vids. At least I can watch someone else play and sometimes win.

This was probably one of the most interesting deck you've played in a long time. Im a big fan of control decks (i almost only play control)but i was feeling a bit burnt out. It doesnt help that standard is just kind of insufferable to watch/play with all the sultai rogues and monowhite though.
Finally, I like it when you play non control decks but play it as if it's a control deck. I'm learning a lot from that.
Tempo deck
I understand the hanging on to the Passage in a landfall deck, but sometimes you just have to play it to thin out if you can't seem to draw the cards you need, imo. It is always a dilemma, but I hate getting flooded when I hold onto a fetch land.
28:20 - I think it's better if you played the Clarion using the white and red mana and then created a 1/1 so the Clarion's effect will trigger. The flying 1/1 from the Clarion is gonna get big because of the Retreat is something that Mono Green is going to try to remove. They'd use their Brawls on the flying and not the other threats that you have on the board. It helps your board become wider too. Just a suggestion. :)

Hello CGB, I saw this deck and you mention it lose to Yorion while bant Toski is very strong against Yorion (negate and things). So why not just put Retreat in to that bant Toski deck. You get lot's of small critter quick in bant and buff it with retreat while hold negate for big spells.

I can not get this deck to work in the depths of bronze. I either start flooding out at turn 5 or get mana screwed. I've not seen Showdown or Toski in like 4 games... Shuffler is freaking great!

I just wanna play ninjas cuz I missed out on that when it came around the first time. Zereth is the closest thing which forces me to play rogues.
Just built a commander deck around Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow and it's amazing how busted she is with only a pile of mostly commons/uncommons to support her.
Maybe removing an usher, lovestruck, and giant killer, and adding 3 brushfire would be fine

OK, how salty would you be if the mono green player used the Castle Garenbrig + Great Henge to randomly cast an Ugin? HAHA. I would rage quit so hard.
Castle mana can only be used for creatures. I did play against a monogreen deck once that just slammed an Ugin, wiped both our boards, and lost all my respect in a single 8-mana play. Dude was super emote spammy to boot.
@@clagen86 You can tell I am not a mono green player because I totally forgot about the castle mana limitation. Hahaha. I'm just sweatin' every time I see 8 manas available.
@@ao_qd I get it. Even when they don't have it I always feel bummed when my opponent gets to 8 mana and I'm just sitting here thinking "welp, I lose to an Ugin here".
I still play felidar retreat every once in awhile as my guilty pleasure jank deck
Works surprisingly well with Pridemalkin. Go wide, then go big and give everything trample.

CGB should try playing with containment priest. It hates on Yorion and Sultai Ultimatum, not to mention call of the death dweller and agadeems awakening
It's amazing....if it sticks to the board. It's a bad card against a lot of other decks though. It's definitely a decent sideboard piece though.
@@clagen86 fair enough. Though, it is a 2 mana 2/2 with flash, so you aren't punished much for using it.
@@grandallrandall5688 So many people will run Edgewall Innkeeper straight into it never expecting a flash creature on 2 white mana. My favorite trick is trapping creatures under Glass Caskets and Banishing Lights then getting Containment Priest online and blinking those permanents to get cheap exile effects.

Shadow of the Verdict would definitely put a hurt to this deck.
It hurts a lot of decks and they always freaking have it. That or they have Extinction Event which always makes commiting to the board a nightmare. Even if they don't have it just the fact that these cards exist makes slamming creatures a real feels bad in standard right now.
I think CGB is watching a lot of Crokeyz hahahaha - a lot of language mannerisms are quite similar. Which I think is great btw
why was there over 4 months between Zendikar rising and kaldheim, but just over 2 between kaldheim and strixhaven?
The three sets from January to July are money makers for Hasbro/WotC. Think about it. January set is just after Christmas. Everyone is flush with money. The other two sets are just around the time teens and twenty-somethings are finishing up school and getting summer jobs. Once again flush with cash. Don't forget, it's not about "fun", it's about making money.

Dang you hate on the dimir haha. I've grown to like them this season, at least compared to lanterns, mono-white, & tibalt jank.
Still more interesting than ramp into Ugin. I hate having a good game ruined by somebody slamming an Ugin. At least with rogues it's usually obvious what you're up against.
@@clagen86 Totally. Control to Ugin or Gensis is the worst. It's terrible getting milled out but at least you know it's coming and don't have to deal with 16 turns of control until a dumb finisher.

Bo3 Is fine, Bo1 I tried it but it's just unplayable against aggro decks.
At 21:32 why bother to spend all that time choosing blockers if you aren't going to block in a way that saves you? Rogues I guess.

Gotta be honest here, this Kaldheim standard is extremely boring. Wincons are too damn linear and card quality is too concentrated in a few. I grinded mythic pre KHD against Rogues and Yorions but now even the aggro decks are boring af to play against, it legit feels like on the play win % got even more one sided.
