gr8 fix there, I have seen on a old Murray where the pinion gear slide pin went missing and I had to fabricate one from a machine screw I cut off ( one wheel turned the other didn't)
Tom I was watching a channel called is it worth it and he was talking about new lawnmower blades from the manufacture and were not sharp they were dull. He said the blades come that way. I did not know that. he said to sharpen new blades. did you know that. just FYI. You crack me up have a good day
I had a mower like this, it was a bit fancier as it had a Roto-Stop blade brake clutch and the traditional Honda handle design, one of the best out there that I even have snow blowers, snow scoop and 42" pusher with that handle style on it. It was missing its transmission though. I guess it had seized up once upon a time, too expensive to fix and thus totally deleted from the machine. The deck was pretty much at its end when I had it and I kept the motor and handles from it and it's waiting on a shelf in my shed to be used in a project or as a spare engine for the HRX. I now have its successor, the HRX217HYC and a commercial Honda. For a long time I used to use Honda's once flagship mower, the HR214SX and the steel deck variants as well.
Good job on that old Honda Tom. There is a mounted bearing oneach side of the deck that the drive axles go thru that might need some strikehold on. The axles rust up there and cause a d bind/drag. It is especially noticable when pulling it backwards. If you find that part number for the tool to take the fuel line clamps off, please share it. I hate them honda clemps.
Also I have a old Troybilt with a Honda 160. It had a stuck exhaust valve that cracked the rocker arm. I have never seen that before. Have to order a new rocker.
