Man, ppl on comments wanna compare... Soo First of all this was my very first PS2 game along with getting the PS2 for Christmas. This will always be my all time favorite Harry Potter game. Even the wikia for it states how it's considered the best Harry Potter main series game. Something about it, is just so memorable and fun.
Something funny I remember learning about this when I played it as a kid was that if you didn't pick up the sword, the Basilisk remained completely docile. It wouldn't actively attack you at all until you picked it up.
I had the GameCube version of this game and I hated how in that version the Basilisk theme would cut out after you damaged it and would restart when you picked up the sword. I like this version’s use of the music way better.
Is it ok if I said that this battle scared me When you are expecting the basilisk to appear when you think it will appear but it doesn't then all of a sudden it comes out of nowhere and scares me?
The elements of this versions boss battle is similar to Ico. A small weaker main character losing the sword after each blow he strikes against an incredibly powerful being and must retrieve it!
I think this is the easiest version of this fight (not counting the LEGO versions) but the music is absolutely epic, especially in this version and he can still kill you easily.

Fun fact: the guy who composed the music for this game (the Basilisk Battle track is epic) later composed for Skyrim :D

Actually, this particular fight is exclusive to the PS2 version. The Xbox version is more in line with the GameCube version.
This is the only version of the game where harry covers his eyes from the basilisk deadly stare

The Basilisk sounds like the T Rex from Jurassic Park.

my game is glitched out o that the basilisk can't take dmg so I legit can't finish the game xD

That sword was basically like a dirk in the PS2 version...while the Xbox and GC versions had it longer at least.
