@@k.alanball3000 I don't know about that. We are soooo corrupted. Maybe the series of long colonized years conditioned us to greed. Even when relatively good things happen, we fail. When working abroad became an opportunity open to all, we wrecked our homes and parents came back to children who didn't recognize them anymore. When we "overtook" India as a callcentre go-to, our young people got drunk on Starbucks weeknights and on beer Saturday mornings. We lost our senses because we got so cash-rich so easy. So we sing our hearts out. To stay sane.

It looks like this was taken during a swimming outing. Resorts usually have karaokes that visitors can use for free. But you see a lot of people here in the Philippines singing like this. Here's the thing when you get used to something you tend to take it for granted. You need to be an extremely great singer with the IT factor and a good company to back you up to succeed here.

I’m from Manila. There are so many good singers here. You go to the slum areas, the past time there is Karaoke singing. I had a friend whose business is the coin slot karaoke machine which he would install in public areas like open places where people can come together and drink or in slums areas where they could not afford to invest in karaoke with good sound systems. He made tons of money with them.
Early on in the Philippines, there were very few places of amusements. We have very limited places like public libraries. So the most available recreation would be movies or singing. we learn to sing a lot in elementary school. We have to respect our flag by singing the National Anthem first thing in the morning. We also sing a lot in Church. everyone sings well at Mass. We have very good Filipino worship songs for Sunday Mass. During birthdays, weddings and graduations, we all have to sing. When people work alone, it is normal to have a radio on and you can hear people singing while doing the laundry, mopping the floor, or photocopying documents. Even secretaries while doing manual and non-intellectual work would sing with the radio or what we call LSS or Last Song Syndrome (the last song that got stuck in the memory). Moreover, since having a Karaoke in a party rather than hire a professional host and performers saves you a lot of money, so do people prefer to invest in karaoke machine with a loud sound system during parties or just attract the entire neighborhood to come to your outdoor restaurant during weekend and show off their singing talent.
I often spend time in barrios and during weekends you can hear so many karaokes in different nearby places playing with singers lined up to take their turn to sing. So, that is how we live in the Philippines. It is not unusual for us to have many good singers in a local community. That explains why there it is not uncommon to have so many great singers here.

The thing that makes this even more amazing is that they're not professionally trained. It's like a natural skill that's ingrained to the Filipinos. But personally, I think the casual/non-professional approach of Filipino karaoke are what makez those events special.

Here the thing, we grade our singers here in Ph using the unit "kalibre" (caliber)... then from 100 - 200. The first singer is between kalibre 140 - 160 (siento kwarenta - seinto sisenta). It's pretty difficult to get the level of kalibre 180 - 200 (which is the bestest).

You're so right... that's just another day in the Philippines. As far as him singing when he was still very young, please don't get mad at me but if I base my opinion on his appearance, I will say his parents won't waste their money on a Karaoke machine. Yes, maybe he still sings while taking a bath, but I doubt that he started at a very young age to sing that way. Maybe, he is smart enough not to have a bad habit like smoking because it could have a negative effect not only on his health but also his breathing which is important to singing, and that my friend may be that's the reason why he can hit some really high notes without a glitch. When are you going to make it to the Philippines? I have been following you for a while now, and you still haven't made it there, hahaha! So I swear if I win the lottery, I will pay for everything and take you to the Philippines hahaha!

You always made my day on the way your reactions to singers either amateurs or professional I'm also encouraged by your kind remarks. And for the little information abiyt the filipino culture, Yes we do love music before karaoke was invented there was a classical guitar and in the old ways , back then when a man want to court a lady , he would bring a guitar and serenade her while the lady would be looking down from her window it was that romantic back in the days .Hahaha well it would be impossible for the unfortunate filipino men's to find a woman to marry if they couldn't sing ? And there was a comedy movie where 2 men's were courting thus lady . One guy had a guitar and he was stranding tue lady . The other guy who can't sing brought a boom box and started dancing haha it was hilarious , haha so many years has passed and I still remember that movie .. it's something so funny it was planted in mu memory .

One of the reason is that in the philippines at school when we were kids during our elementary class 2 times a day every morning and in the afternoon in 5 days a week we sing a high pitch National anthem song😆..
I think thats where we get our voice being practice im not that super good at singing but i can sing pretty well ....its.crazy😅.. Lot of people says that filipinos were born singers for me its not true we were just train when we were kids without even knowing😂😂
also in all asian countries i think we are the only country that teaches english in school from kindergarten🤣🤣
I think most kids starts singing our national anthem at 6 years old since i was 6 when i was in Grade 1 hahahaha and do it until high school its a fucking 10 years of singing everyday 😂😂 The only way to get away with it is to be late or not to go to school at all
    To be specific
    3 songs in the morning
    High pitch - National anthem
Lower pitch-Ako ay pilipino (I am a filipino in english)
3rd A mix pitch idk who created it but its different from every other school since its a song for our town hahaha

The friends are waiting for him to finish so they can sing next. That's probably why somebody turned off the karaoke at the end. This is a common joke in the Philippines. 😂😂😂
    I miss the Philippines!
