    Tomer, you asked us to leave you a comment on how you could have won the second game, so here it is.
    On the end step you cast Mystical Tutor, if you tutored for Turnabout instead of Minds Desire you could have won when you untapped by copying Turnabout infinitely with Reiterate buyback for infinite mana. You had exactly 10 mana sources in play, and the combo works just like with Reset where you need an upfront cost of 10 mana to start but only 7 lands to keep it going (you had 8). Once you make infinite mana, you can cast Recurring Insight and copy it any number of times with Reitierate to draw your deck, and then once again using infinite mana, you can cast Guttersnipe and AetherFlux Reservoir, cast any instant or sorcery, and then copy that spell with Reiterate infinitely to trigger those cards infinitely, killing Richard.

      Is there a reason we give them joint second rather than joint fourth (etc)? Pros and cons each way, mostly curious.

    • @Summon_Aery
      @Summon_Aery 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just think it makes more sense to have drawing people the next spot after, like rather than have one person in first place and then three people in fourth place I think it'd better to have the rest as second place, which is still last place in essence. Also it helps keep the points more similar, if the same people did combo decks and everyone else got 1 point and they got 4 it would give them a pretty considerable lead. So I think this is the most fair way of doing it.

    • @erfunk
      @erfunk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Summon_Aery Fair enough. If they were actively playing for points, it would suddenly make sense to string along the kills, which is one reason cmdrvs has to be more careful about their solution.
      If you're not opposed to half points, you could also average the points given to players that lose at the same time. Thus 2 points each for a full sweep, and 2.5 or 1.5 for two out at once.

      It's because old Niv Mizzet is easier to cast than the new one. The new one has a new ability, however it requires a stronger devotion to izzet, which makes it tougher to cast and less desirable in a Grixis, Jeskai, or any other multi color blue red deck.

I love storm, like played it for 7 years in modern built two storm commander decks love storm, but when Tomer picked Tibor and Lumia with the intent to be a unique izzet deck I really hoped to actually see that at all. The deck felt more like a storm deck with no commander and some random dead cards than a Tibor and Lumia deck, especially since T&L are so unique it would have been cool to see them actually do more. I kind of hope in a future episode they get another shot where they actually get to shine.

      @@frankomancer I saw them but my issue was those cards never seemed relevant. The fact that he had dramatic sceptre, foresight combo and a fair number of storm pieces, to me felt like t&l were taking the backseat in general deck design. Comboing off in one game would have been one thing but he comboed both games and then even after the combo failed never seemed to use his commanders. I get that levitation, wonder and basilisk collar were in the deck but they didn't seem relevant with how the rest of the deck was constructed.

    • @Illusionmaker_MTG

      T&L for sure are "Charisma"-tic >:D
      I played them for a long(er) time in a not-storm but spellslinger'esque deck with a spell-based voltron-theme that tried to profit from T&Ls abilitiy to wipe the board on a regular basis and fly in for a lot of damage!

    • @tomerabramovici32
      @tomerabramovici32 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree that it's unfortunate that 6 cards out of 100 ended up eclipsing what the rest of the deck wanted to do. That said, I do believe my version of T&L stayed true to the commander and the deck design evolved naturally from it. If you're curious here's a quick rundown of how I built it:
      T&L's first ability doesn't look like much: it gives target creature flying. This protects your creatures from T&L's earthquake effect, but more interestingly since it's an easy way to target creatures I paired it up with Willbreaker to steal that creature and Dismiss Into Dream to exile it instead. To maximize the use of this ability I ran cheap Blue cantrips (Opt, Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, and mana-neutral Frantice Search) to get the most value for my mana before T&L are dealt with.
      T&L's second ability is the scariest one at a glance, being an Earthquake. To protect my own creatures from this ability I ran Wonder, Levitation, and Archetype of Imagination, the latter also turning off flying on opposing creatures to make them vulnerable to Earthquake. Then to make this weak Earthquake more lethal I added deathtouch with Basilisk Collar and the ability to outright steal creatures with Charisma (which I clearly should've read better, oops). To maximize the amount I can trigger my Earthquake, I ran cheap Red cantrips (Crimson Wisps, Expedite, Faithless Looting, Renegade Tactics).
      The next most important cards for this strategy were Gelectrode and Weaver of Lightning. Both of them synergize with the above cards just like T&L do so they're good redundancy. Niblis of Frost also works well with Willbreaker and Dismiss into Dream. I'm already running a ton of Blue/Red cantrips and these creatures benefit from more Instants/Sorceries, so I knew I wanted to push into a Spellslinger archetype. From there I started adding the typical Spellslinger cards, so in comes Young Pyro, Talrand, Primal Amulet, etc. At this point most of the deck is filled.
      For win conditions, it seems typical T&L lists run creature-based finishers like Leering Emblem and Kiln Fiend with the idea of Storming off and then swinging for lethal. I sorta did that too by tossing in Haze of Rage. But I also didn't want to rely on just my creatures to win the game, because so much of my deck already relied on them to do everything else and I'd be useless if I couldn't get them to stick. So I decided to throw in the Firemind's Foresight combo: it seemed on-theme to me and I thought it would be relatively difficult to pull off. It ended up working way better than expected.
      The last cards added were Dramatic Reversal and Steamcore Weird (for Seth). Reversal was added because I was already running Isochron Scepter and I've never seen the combo before. It ended up being too easy to win with in this deck, which was my mistake. The deck already had plenty of ways to win so this was definitely overkill.
      So that's my thought process behind the deck. I do think I added a good amount of ways to show off what this unique commander can do. I didn't want to go all-in on T&L specifically because that strategy is too linear and loses to too many things (like Vince's creatureless Prison deck). So I added a powerful Spellslinger element that I think flowed naturally from the cards I was running, and it ended up being the perfect way around Vince's Prison which was targeted specifically at Creature strategies. Honestly, if Vince just cast Grand Arbiter, any dream of Storming off would've been shattered as well. Thankfully he didn't!

    I'm not fond of your banlist. Why should blue not play CyRift, but green gets to play Zendikar Resurgence? This card is just as absurd and will end up in basically any green deck. White decks will always play Land Tax, which is absurd at what it does. I feel like having cards like Rift (or Craterhoof and so on) are ok once in a while. I get that it's hard not to just put it in any deck, but once in a while it has to show up.

    Richard just keeps proving my weekly statement of being the player that always gets help when he asks for (and he does it a lot), but that will never move a finger for no one else if asked to, not even for the fun of the show. "I don't care about RIP" he says in game 1 when Seth asks him for help, and plays Teferi's Protection on game 2, those 2 simple things sum up pretty well the kind of player Richard is in every game. But, hey, lets keep bashing around Vince for playing azorius... because Vince is the real evil for playing cards that the rest of the group (apparently) is never prepared for, even though they should, because it's a Commander game after all, and you should have answers inside of your decks in case things like that happen.
    On the other hand, gg Tomer, I personally don't like storm decks, but at least it wasn't another painful to watch moonfolk deck.
    And Seth, you totally deserved that Field of Ruin, haha, I hope you are even with Tomer now, and that next time you pay attention to the real threats on the table. I know the correct land to blow out was Richard's bounce land, but I totally support Tomer's spiteful choice this time (only this time, but don't do it again, please)
    As for Vince, embrace your villainous tittle, and have fun with it.
    I really love the show nevertheless. Even though my constant critics look like the opposite, I like this channel more than others. Keep creating content and things for people to talk about. And sorry if my English is not perfect, my native tongue is Spanish.

      I can see why some people would get upset over it. They want to see what the other decks at the table can do so they can decide if they'd want to try one of those decks. But if the other players are cool with going up against stax then hey, fuck it. It's fun to use that kind of deck and it's fine to go against it occasionally. The only time it pisses me off is when someone brings their stax deck to every game. A stubborn stax-only player has the potential to kill EDH at game stores.
