    By far the most informative video I have found. Everyone else just says unplug everything and put the pipe in which was not enough detail for me, so thank you.

    Jon Ganzer, thanks so much for this video. I did my 14’ 6.7 about a month ago, and your video really made it easy. The biggest takeaway was not fighting with the welded bolts. You also do a great job with identifying sensors. With that, my 14’ had at least 10. That was by far the hardest part. That or getting the downpipe flange secured. That was a challenge with the tools I have.
    Great video though. Thanks again!

    Hey John, just completed my delete on my 2011 F250. I replaced the DPF with a ProFlo SS delete pipe and programmed it with the Punchit programmer. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to do everything in my garage thanks to your video. I referred back to your video several times which made everything so easy.. Thanks again...

      Quick question, what did you do with your DEF tank? I've heard people are filling the tanks and leaving them full so not to crystalize.

    Hi Ryan,
    I did delete the EGR and install an AFE airbox.
    As far as tuners, I already owned the SCT, and had tuned my 2005 6.0 with it. I was able to re-install the stock tune on the 2005 before I sold it, update the SCT to current specs (there was something like 168 updates available, which I was able to download for free from SCT) which made it compatible with the 2011 6.7. For free.
    So now I had an interface with the truck, and I just needed tunes in a file format that the SCT device would understand. I called a couple of places, but Bill at Sinister Diesel seemed to really know what he was talking about. They offer 1 tune for $150, four for $500. The "Load First" tune is included at no charge. These are just software (files) that I retreived via email, and then used the SCT software to load on to the SCT device. Long answer, but the important thing is that I don't have any experience with the Spartan.
    I would say the four tunes (Tow, Street, Performance, and Extreme) are, or follow closely, Bully Dog tunes, which are just re-sold by Sinister. I've installed each. If you look at dyno charts for these tunes, (available on line) the first three make more power and torque above 2,000 rpm, but the differences are marginal and the profiles are almost identical. Each of those increased my fuel mileage from around 14.5 to around 16. Disappointing. I was a little concerned about the Extreme tune (I am, after all, an ex-6.0 owner) but when I saw that the Bully Dog Extreme torque profile was just a "Street" tune from H&S, whose Extreme profile adds another 150 foot pounds, I figured it was safe. The Bully Dog Extreme torque curve does not follow the profile of the other three tunes, in that it delivers a LOT more torque a LOT earlier (like 100 ft/lbs more at 1500 rpm).
    At first, I was a little careful with the throttle - and in the first couple hundred miles, I was actually averaging over 21 mpg! At this point (about 700 miles on this tune now) I have reverted to my normal get-out-of-my-way driving style and the mileage has settled around 20. That is really a GOOD thing.

    It took me about four hours, but I was not in a rush and I was not familiar with all of the connections (which is why I made this video). The truck makes a LOT more power in Extreme tune, and the fuel mileage has increased about 30%. It also puffs black smoke - not a lot - at more than 1/3 throttle, which I don't like.

    Ah, right. The program (tune) is actually written to the trucks computer, so even if the battery died or you completely disconnected the computer, the tune does not go away. It's just like your home computer - you can unplug it, and disconnect everything, but when you connect it all back up and plug it in, everything is still there.
    To get the latest info, do a Google search for "diesel truck tuner" or "diesel truck tunes".

      Removing the EGR and DPF increases the exhaust particulates, but some guys then install a very rich tune, which creates a lot of black smoke when they accelerate.

    Removed the monstrosity yesterday. DId not have the hanger pliers - no tool suppliers had any either. So, I simply unscrewed the hanger hardware from the left frame rail (8 nuts) and pulled the monster out with the hangers still on the monster. Piece o cake getting the single rubber hanger off the monster, and onto the truck. BTW what the heck is that round black tube for??

    approx how long did the entire process take you. Didn't seem to difficult, but more tedious. Also, have you done any significant towing with this set up? Of course tunes will have an impact on this, but what have you noticed most? Throttle response..lower egts..?

    • @jonganzer7478
      @jonganzer7478  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, this stuff is recreation for me, so I take my time with it, slow and careful. Do it once, do it right and all that stuff. Probably a good six hour Saturday. The thing you notice most is the power differences in all the different tunes. Once everything's installed its easy to change the tune, so I probably tried 5 or 6. The crazy power ones are fun but make me worry more about the drive line and engine life, they're that strong.

  • @Tahoe0512
    @Tahoe0512 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    nice. Paying thousands of hard earned dollars for the truck and paying again for removing it. What a great idea they have us to. I understand emissions but they are killing engines and on top of that dpf filters needs to be replaced another great idea that cost $2000. I rather stay with my 99 ford with 7.3 v8 diesel with no egr.

      Tahoe0512 Nice we have a 2006 Duramax none of that EPA stuff too 2007 was the last year they were able to produce without all that Stuff 7.3 is awesome would never touch a 6.0 or 6.4 might try the 6.7 cause eventually all these old trucks will be gone

    • @xxpr0nag3xx
      @xxpr0nag3xx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DEF systems don't kill engines. . . LOL! They barely if at all hinder any performance. Your literally just spraying some def into your exhaust as it passes through a light filter. There is very little back pressure and what is produces is actually good for the engine.
      People just hate it cuz its extra parts. Oh nooo you got to buy DEF. Oh nooo once every once in a while you got to change out the screen on your doser. awwww.
      Get over it lol.

    • @johnhull6363
      @johnhull6363 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      xxpr0nag3xx read California report on diesel emission control.....CARB admit that dpf, def, egr on diesel engines cause damage... even catastrophic..... reduce fuel mileage, raise engine temps, reduce oil life, and dpf regens release the pollution anyways

    • @justinwaite26
      @justinwaite26 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      xxpr0nag3xx ok troll first off..light filter? did you not just witness that 7ft bomb of filters that he removed..the filter is so restrictive it cloggs and has to be burnt out...are you dense? have you not wondered why older diesels with no emissions crap on them get better fuel economy? ..no one is complaining out buying g Def fluid you twat..we're complaining about paying 6grand to replace one of these filters when they get so clogged you need a new one and the restraint it puts on performance....back pressure??? lol it's a diesel funny how all performance diesels run a stack straight off the turbo out the hood..not much back pressure on that..I would say.....go home

    • @xxpr0nag3xx

      I pull one boxes out of Freightliners all the time. I have seen the inside of them quite often. There is barely any restriction. Even the SCR system isnt that restrictive.
      And yes, you need back pressure for proper performance.

    What about the rubber hoses connected to the dpf. What are they for because there are about 4-5 maybe on it. The plugs are undone all i lack now is the hoses and brackets.

    This was a fantastic video, great job! I just bought a 2016 and have been researching ways to do a delete. I have the same motor but it's on a 350 dually. Did you end up getting rid of anything under the hood to clean things up after you did this or was it just all underneath? I will probably look to get this done on mine the minute it's out of warranty but it's so tempting to just do it now after the first oil change. lol

      +Rule 44 Also, forgot to add that I live in a county in Indiana that doesn't Emission test and I'm not commercial so there is no way I'll get checked out on this unless down the road I sell.

    Is that black canister solid? I wonder if it’s to soak up engine exhaust vibrations so it doesn’t trace through the exhaust and damage dpf sensors???

    Very informative! Thanks for taking the time. The welded nuts would have been sure to fool me too! Btw what rims do you have on your truck? I only caught a glimpse but looks like machined black? And Terra grappler? How do you like those?

      The wheels are actually stock Ford 20", nothing fancy, but I like them. The Grapplers are solid, and quieter than I expected - but they're still new.

  • @shagyluke

    what did you do with the other end of all of the plugs? Bag them and tie them up? Just curious? Also why did you decide to just do the delete and tune rather than the complete system with the Blocks? Are you planning on reinstalling it at some point? Thats what I would have to do as I live in a state that has emission checks.

      Hey Buddy,
      My truck has 100,000 miles, out of warranty. But I did keep all the parts in storage just in case I need an emission inspection and it doesn't pass.

    • @RIPbiker13
      @RIPbiker13 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emissions equipment is only under warranty until 50k miles. It's in the fine print. Just found out and I was pissed. If the emissions stuff fails and takes out the engine between the 50 and 100k mark, you're not covered because the failure was not under warranty. It's BS and I didn't know when I bought my truck.

    If you have a 2015 or 2016 there are actually 10 connections. And the last one is over the rear axle.

      Hi Charles,
      I left mine in place and just blocked off the hoses. No need to remove it, and it makes it easier to reinstall everything if you need to.

    so i need to buy a sct tuner then buy dpf delete tunes? where and how do you get the tunes onto the sct? also what happens if battery dies on truck? do u lose everything?

    • @jonganzer7478
      @jonganzer7478  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there are several tuners that will work with this truck - SCT has a good background with Fords, and would be a good choice. The tuner, or "programmer" downloads updated software to the computer in your car or truck - kind of like different versions of Windows. Windows XP and Windows 8 will both load on your home computer and allow it to run, but the computer will behave very differently with the different operating systems.
      You can buy different tunes for your particular truck online - just do a search - the tunes are downloaded or emailed to you as files. When you plug your tuner into the computer you used to download your tuning files, (using an interface cable) you can transfer the files (tunes) to your tuner. Hope that helps.

    • @Gooselip
      @Gooselip 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jon Ganzer thank you so much. What happens if your truck battery dies. Do you need to put the delete tunes back in? Also what website sells the downloads?

    • @jonganzer7478
      @jonganzer7478  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you don't need an SCT - there are other tuners available, but SCT seems to have a good handle on the Ford vehicles. You can google "Diesel Tunes", and several different manufacturers will come up. They sell you files that can be loaded to your device, so be sure they are compatible.
