Ford changed my computer module for free due to recall and clutch now shes running fine......had one issue of my cluster panel going out but was just a 5 amp fuse going other than that no problems
I have this car. 2013 Ford Focus SE, but it's not quite doing what this is. When I get gas everytime it hesitates to start up and it jerks. So I turn it back off, then try and turn it on again and it's a little less jerky, but still does it everytime i get gas!!!! Also when I go to a stop it just dies and the odemeter on the left shoots all the way down to 0 and then back up to 8.. and the oil and battery light show. :/ It sucks because I can't really sell the car because I'm on a 4 year loan with it unless I sold it out right but then I would be car less.
I've been looking through Focus vids to help my neighbor out, and I've come to a few conclusions. Others have reported their problem stemming from a bad ground connection between the transmission and frame, but I suspect in addition to that the ground connection between the battery and body may have too much resistance. My neighbor's car wouldn't start, and we discovered that the unit attached to the ground cable right at the negative battery terminal was burned up. I believe this unit is responsible for sensing the battery's state of charge, and "tells" the alternator to send charging voltage to the battery. Of course, it is a "dealer only" part that is integral to the negative cable, so we not only have to replace the cable ($50.+) but the connector on the end of the two wires that plug into it ($20.+). The parts will arrive at the dealership in the morning. Before I install the new cable I intend to scrape the paint off the body at the point of contact to insure a good, low-resistance connection. I will also do the same at the transmission/frame connection. I'm hoping that will be the end of his issue...I'll post more if that doesn't do the trick.
Aaron Millar So far, so good. My neighbor informed me that his transmission had already been replaced under warranty,, so I didn't go the extra mile of dropping the bottom pan to access that. I did scrape all the paint off at the neg. cable/body connection point before replacing the cable. Since the local dealer did not stock the wire harness terminals separately, we had to purchase two "pigtails" to splice/solder/shrink tube to complete the (computer ?) connection to the module on the cable. I also found his battery had been "boiled" dry, so we replaced it as well. 14.1 vdc going to the battery after completing the work so I'm satisfied, and he has been driving it daily ever since.
This is normal for any car any models, most of them are diesel. This is "catalytic" or DPF filter. The car go on security mode "emergency" to protect the engine from bigger problems. This "DPF Filter or catalytic" normaly stays before the exhaust, under the engine. They are used to clean the exhaust fumes from the engine. And to preserve the environment. When that happens, it just has to change it with new one.
Mine still starts but once I get off high speed roadways it starts to struggle when I get below 25 mph and then all the engine lights come on and the engine dies. I end up having to stop, take out the key and restart, after that if I'm still on slower roadways I have to put it in low until I get up to 30 mph then I put it into drive. Quite scary because the majority of the time that I'm driving I have my six year old in the car with me.
@@jacquelineL7 Well it just started happening a few days ago so not yet sadly, I talked to my Uncle and friend who are Certified mechanic's this morning about it, my friend thinks it might be the clutch but I have to take it to AutoZone and have them scan it so I can give my friend and Uncle the error code. Good news is until your Ford Focus is at 100000 miles it's usually still under drivetrain warranty. I would contact the dealership you bought it from and ask them what you should do.
dallastxracing last time I bought a truck from ford it broke down miles off the lot, then I got the focus and had issues and I switched to Toyota. Focus was fun but unreliable.
I have been dreading this, mine messed up yesterday . Transmission malfunction light came on, wouldnt go in reverse . Now it wont even start. 52,000 miles. Got it towed to a dealer today. Mines a 2012, wonder what the dealer will say is wrong.
this happened to me about a month ago or so , my car stopped turning on and all of the sudden it wouldnt go in reverse and it wouldn’t go faster than 10 mph and everytime youd give it gas it would sound like the gears skipped so definitely take it to ford i got mine fixed for free since i had under 150k miles on mine

here in the uk ive always been a fan of fords but mainly earlier models like the mk1 ford focus never had an issue with that car . infact i would go as far as saying its the best car i owned but then i bought a 2012 ford focus and its a load of shit had it just over a year big mistake buying it .ford are cutting there costs anyway they can and its people like me and you that suffer but they dont care as they have your money and every one elses who is stupid enough to by a ford rant over

Anyway car needed new clutch replacement and new TCM( Thank god under warranty ,its something $3-4k bill if the warranty expired and the problem is that dual clutch dps6 never can be fixed,never) and sold this shit a week ago ,rid off this car bro imediately!
I had the problem with the TCM. I broke down in a middle of a four way intersection, had to throw on my hazards and push my car. The replacement did work and my car is riding smooth. Until I had the " High temp warning, stop safely" problem. Have you had this problem?

I keep having the emission sign turning on, I had to change and get a whole new transmission & for a while it ran smooth then the same problem started. The car now sometimes runs smooth, then there’s time where I turn on my car & the emission sign is on and when I try to pass 2nd gear it kind of like looses power and has a kickback to it. I changed spark plugs, bought a new gascap but the problem still remains in my Ford Focus 2012 SE. idk what else to do !! Can anyone help me please !! Transmission issues due to faulty ground wire. replaced the ground wire and shaved some paint off the ground touching the frame and boom no problems.

The issue is with the TCM. Soon as I replaced mine it stopped having issues.

If anyone is having this problem, just take it to Ford and tell them to replace your purge valve. Also get rid of the paint on the main ground.

I had that problem too, mine would overheat and stop shortly after the "high temp warning". I'd pull over wait about 10 mins, start driving again
