I just had this problem today, and after paying 90$ to tow my car to a shop while I was running late for work, the tow truck driver got my car to start. I tried everything before towing- jumping the car, cleaning off the rear park aid sensors, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, starting the car in neutral drive and reverse... and he got it to start after a ride on the truck. It's a transmission control module problem and the replacement is an extended warranty, your dealership is required to replace it at no cost to you as soon as your car throws the bad code.
I just had the same issue happen to me in the middle of traffic on a busy freeway.. i had this and the hill issue pop up too. is this a common issue with these cars? I am debating if i should just get rid of it and go buy a subaru like i originally intended... please let me know if you have any information about this.. thank you so much
My Focus MK3 also this happened. The service centre told me a front driver side sensor was problem and needs to do replacement. The part needs to order.
Update: Ford finally fixed the issue after the throttle stopped working when my wife was driving down the highway. They replaced the TCU free of charge, it's been working great for over a month now.
I’ve got a temporary solution that’ll start your car when this is happening. I bought one yesterday, guy said “nothing wrong with it at all”, well it did it when I stopped to get gas and has done this 5 times today. Here’s the trick if your car won’t start: Turn the key to OFF, Turn your key to the ON position, wait ATLEAST 30 seconds, then press the brake and start your car. This method hasn’t failed me anytime I’ve waited longer than 30 sec. Let me know if this helps!
I see this web site for solution to correct it. www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=438049 www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277393

This worked for me. Thank you very much
backup sensors mounted on rear bumper, there is 3 or 4, one or 2 stopped working, will give you this error.
You mean reverse parking sensors is it?
Hello ..got the same issue with my Focus 2013. TCU means transmission control unit, doesn't it?
yes
ok same thing happening to my wife's 12 focus.. Tell me, were you still under warranty? or was the you covered under an extended dealer warranty?
It was covered under the powertrain warranty which I believe is 10 years or 100k whichever comes first.
I have this issue today. Ford had just replaced the shudder and CLUTCH issue 3-4 weeks ago and now the parking aid malfunction !
