It was definitely an amazing time for Youth Gone Wild! I do gravitate towards Lynch, as I have the ESP Skull & Snakes Signature model but I also had a white (turned ivory) LP Custom with EMGs like Zakk but I just handed that down to my son a couple of years ago. Never went through with his scheme but apparently it's a unit just a few serial numbers off of EVH's 12301 numbered holy grail. Fast forward to today and Marshall offers the 1959HW hand wired amp that was cloned from Warren's amp.

There NEEDS to be a part 2. George and Warren were the absolute 2 most important players in my quest to play guitar. Actually if it was just one player it would have to be Warren DeMartini.. But I stayed busy learning to play from both of these guys for my first 10 years of playing.
Dude your channel has inspired me and I play drums. I’m only 12 but love playing slayer megadeth Metallica anthrax dream theater rush etc. you motivate me to better myself at my instrument and this is a good battle I think the winner is ratt.

That was truly amazing Mike. As an old drummer(playing since I was 12, am 66 now) it was so very hard to find a guitarist of your caliber when I was in various bands. And you've mastered the differing techniques of major rockers. I'm not easily impressed (I'm a cranky old bastard) but you sir, delivered. Well done.
Solid choices! I would have run Cry of the Gypsy or Sleepless Night as one of the Dokken songs. Ratt was much more popular mainstream and a great live show.
As a technical guitarist Lynch takes it, but if we're purely going on who wrote the coolest riffs in their discography, its gotta be RATT, just by the sheer volume of hair-raising riffs. Lynch usually gets us with a nice riff and a killer solo, which makes him so good. But just on sheer 'bangerness' Dokken fell short in this one. Body talk is absolutely heartstopping at every level.
Warren DeMartini was waaaay more technical than George Lynch. Just listen to Warrens lead playing on ‘Can’t wait on Love’ by Ratt. Warren had it all along with Jake E Lee.

Riffwise, I'd say both bands match each other to a T. George Lynch and Warren De Martini are guitar gods. That being said, I prefer Dokken as a band, since their songs have so much more emotional resonance, and Don's vocal range is just incredible

Im 27 and i grew up listening to classic rock and i likd both RATT and Dokken. I will say i prefer RATTs riffs but Dokkens main lead singer surely had an awesome voice! Back then. RATTs main singer still kicking it though. Good Riff playing by the way! 👍 I love 80s rock!
And the winner is Edward Van Halen. He basically invented the blueprint for a lot of the pop/hair metal guitar, whether he wanted to or not. Solos aside, all of these rhythm riffs are like a variation on a theme of Edward's stuff, and it's pretty glaring. Anyways, great playing and I love your videos.
Dokken and Ratt had some great 🔥🔥🔥 songs. Both bands songs give off this “dangerous be careful vibe” into them, mainly Scene of the Crime by Ratt, Wanted Man, and The Hunter by Dokken and In My Dreams. Personally I think Ratt has more of this “exciting dangerous provocative music” vibe than what Dokken has. Either way great bands and nice cover!
Ratt I think took this one, their riffs and licks are iconic and has personality (not that Dokken's doesn't). Granted I love Out of the Cellar and Invasion of Privacy those albums kicked ass!

@@straty5598 By mismanaged I specifically mean marketing. Dokken could've been a little darker. It's like Skid Row. I thought 18 and life was okay off their first album, but Slave to the Grind was their best album by far. Riffs, full rounded sound, etc.....I feel that Dokken should've gone a bit heavier. Cinderella was a great example as well. Could have been heavier, but stayed in ballads, etc.....should have been Sinderella and red to be just marketed better. That's my personal opinion. Dokken should've done the same thing.
So essentially we have a battle between Lynch and DeMartini .. Edge to Lynch .. Few on his level .. Then again, who would you honestly pit Jeff Loomis against? (besides Becker and Friedman) .. Both bands songs give off this “dangerous be careful vibe” into them, mainly Scene of the Crime by Ratt, Wanted Man, and The Hunter by Dokken and In My Dreams. Personally I think Ratt has more of this “exciting dangerous provocative music” vibe than what Dokken has. Either way great bands and nice cover!

Ratt I think took this one, their riffs and licks are iconic and has personality (not that Dokken's doesn't). Granted I love Out of the Cellar and Invasion of Privacy those albums kicked ass!

Dokken is still one of the most mismanaged bands ever.
True but actually Y&T was managed even worse than Dokken :).
@@jonasirw1 I don't disagree. Thought Cinderella was a problem too. Had someone tell me the band should have had a diff spelling. "Sinderella" with a tail and horns on the S. I could see that.
Y&T and Dokken had so much wasted talent, no doubt.

@@straty5598 By mismanaged I specifically mean marketing. Dokken could've been a little darker. It's like Skid Row. I thought 18 and life was okay off their first album, but Slave to the Grind was their best album by far. Riffs, full rounded sound, etc.....I feel that Dokken should've gone a bit heavier. Cinderella was a great example as well. Could have been heavier, but stayed in ballads, etc.....should have been Sinderella and red to be just marketed better. That's my personal opinion. Dokken should've done the same thing.
