You guys are awesome. I love MTG, I've never been really good at it, but these reviews really help me learn more about awesome shenanigans and really sweet cards. You guys keep doing what you're doing because you're awesome!
with strionic resonator. can you bring in the angel to copy the thragtusk, then on the stack use the resonator on the angel to blink her out to the target thragtusk again?
"Not sure if it's gonna see much play." Brad Nelson, 2013, on Mutavault, the most played card in competitive Magic since it entered the Standard rotation. ;-)
When talking about Stoic Resonator, instead of targeting the Thragtusk, can't you just target the Resto Angel so you copy its "Whenever it enters the battelfield link target creature" ability?
Can i just ask one question.... Is anything from any set constructed playable besides the obviously great, unattainable cards?? I'm looking at these videos to try to help me make a standard deck and everything is only for limited formats apparently.
These set reviews are almost like a "beginners guide to excel" at draft mode. If these videos were all made it would be the best guide to pre release. I'm sure the popularity of these videos would be crazy. Speed is important.
Well there are many formats to play magic. To sealed booster which is strictly limited to the core 2014 card list. Or to constructed, which you have the larger, standard block set to pick and choose from. So being refined about card strategies does matter in its effective playability.
I think Strionic Resonator is the one card that gives a sneak peak at what will be in the next set, sort of like Arbor Elf or Farseek. Like there might be quite a lot of creatures or enchantments that have triggered abilities.
Hi, about into the wilds, this card is insane in draft. It gives green reach quickly (because it allows you to actually put into play a land and then play another land) and because you are garanteed to never be flooded ever, that is to say to always draw spells ! that is huge.
Like the first person said, I think you need to reread Enlarge, it makes it so the creature has to be blocked, not blocked by all creatures defending player controls.
i would also like to note primeval bounty + farseek is kinda the nutts, its land etb + non creature spell, turns late game casts of "dead draws" into bomb plays, also consider something like unexpected results
Im surprised Brad didn't mention that Brindle Boar is a sac outlet. In a sac deck you could potentional summon brind boar, sac for 4 life, summon something you really want with morbid on it (maybe something that can bring brindle boar back from the grave even) and then sac it again for another 4 life.
I know I'm going really deep with this but my first thought with Voracious Wurm was in constructed going Heroes Reunion into Voracious for a 9/9 (or bigger depending on lifelink creatures etc) on turn 3 or 4 depending on ramp. Turn 1: Avacyn's Pilgrim Turn 2: Fiendslayer Paladin Turn 3: Swing gain 2, Heroes Reunion into Voracious Wurm (11/11 on turn 3) Ridiculous and probably a bad deck unless you get everything and still likely to just fail in a fantastic fashion.
Savage summoning is worth it if you really want the vastwood hydra to stick while still getting your counter you lost from playing an extra spell to make sure this one stick
At the prerelease, I got a Garruk's horde up 89/89 thanks to a kalonian hydra, advocate of the beast, stalled ard state and a ton of life gain on both side. Best game of the night.
Honestly, I think the switch to Elivish mystic was a good choice not because the old Elves card was plural, but because new players have no idea what "Llanowar" is reference to. It has been a long long time since we've been to that plane.
Hunt the weak does not suck, because it is green creature removal that gives you value, though it is mainly worse than the other two. Also, Overrun and Enlarge are very equal in power, because Overrun requires you to have lots of creatures, and is more dificult to cast, but also more potent when it works. Enlarge is genereally just a damage leap or a removal spell.
Gladecover scout was an awesome limited sideboard tech with my double troll hide against a UB control player. Just saying you can touch it in limited with some success.
One thing i found out about hexproofs is that if you beef them up, your opponents gonna get super scared, super quick. For instance, if you place gladecover scout on your first turn and place forced adaption on her the next turn, then you have a creature thats gonna get stronger and stronger every turn and your opponent cant say say or do nothing about it.
constructive criticism is always good. just tone it down a little ^^ if you take out the insults and attitude i agree with you that some people would have an issue with those things but i like these vids, they are entertaining. i dont mind their seemingly off topic discussions, and evan can have an opinion just like you can
At prerelease the guy I played had a Kalonian Hydra turn 5 game 1 and wrecked me. I bored in all my removal game 2, killed the Hydra when he played, and then he followed that up with a divine favor on the lifelink paladin to gain 6 life and make an 8/8 Voracious Worm. So bonkers!
i'm new to magic and i've watched through quite a few of these now and i'm terribly confused. every time they say a card is effective, they always clarify that's it's only good in limited rather than constructed. like, every single card that they like. is anything 'playable'? jeeze
My green deck has: 4 Garruk's Companion 4 Dungrove Elder 4 Strangleroot Geist 4 Llanowar Elves 3 Scute Mob 4 Leatherback Baloth 4 Young Wolf 2 Primeval Titan 1 Viridian Emissary 1 Omnath, Locus of Mana 1 Garruk, Primal Hunter 4 Rampant Growth 2 Overwhelming Stampede 1 Green Sun's Zenith and my side is: 1 Acidic Slime 1 Serpent's Gift 1 Solemn Simulacrum and of course the rest is forest's I like this deck to be honest :)
It's one of thje best man-lands ever printed, Mishra's Factory being the best. It's a 2/2 creature of every creature type that's safe from sorcery speed removal. That's good enough, in Lorwyn block it was insane along side the Fairy man land in faries.
Strionic, casual constructed? I disagree. Thing is; it doesnt have to be an enter the battlefield effect. You can play this turn 2, turn 3 geist, turn 4, swing with geist and copy the trigger to make 2 angels and punch them for at least 8 dmg in the air! Or how about that voice of resurgence? suddenly you get two tokens, and the list goes on and on. I would not be suprised if it was a constructed maindeck once it finds the shell. Another: Primeval bounty now gives you doubble the benefit.
You guys are awesome. I love MTG, I've never been really good at it, but these reviews really help me learn more about awesome shenanigans and really sweet cards. You guys keep doing what you're doing because you're awesome!
Thank you for doing these set reviews. I really enjoyed hearing your comments and critiques of the cards. This was much more enjoyable than reading :P
with strionic resonator. can you bring in the angel to copy the thragtusk, then on the stack use the resonator on the angel to blink her out to the target thragtusk again?
I once top decked a Scavenging Ooze at 4 life and basically got back to 19 life in two turns. I love that card.
Was Pyromancer's Guantlet skipped by accident? I don't remember that card being in the Red set review and not among the artifacts here.
Excuse you, Watchwolf was a thing. or does that not count because of multicolor?
Young Pyromancer + Strionic Resonator for the red burnsies decks?
I'd like to know when Evan adds all these cards to his cube, which cards does he take out
Can someone explain why mutavault is SOOO good? Can you use the trigger multiple times or something?
I doubt it. Which Fog do you think is better?
Which dual-coloured lands did 4th edition have? ( The answer, is none)
Can i just ask one question.... Is anything from any set constructed playable besides the obviously great, unattainable cards?? I'm looking at these videos to try to help me make a standard deck and everything is only for limited formats apparently.

Primeval Bounty Vs Deadbridge chant in Jund which is better?
Can some one link that deck brad is talking about, the GP winning deck with Giant growth?
Is this the first core set without Acidic slime?

Gates and shocks in Ravnica. Whats the problem?
Hi, about into the wilds, this card is insane in draft. It gives green reach quickly (because it allows you to actually put into play a land and then play another land) and because you are garanteed to never be flooded ever, that is to say to always draw spells ! that is huge.
YAY IT'S HERE! Love you guys!
You guys really should release the audio from these videos in podcast form. It'd make dealing with work so much easier. :P
then why wouldnt they print the m10 land set again as it would have literally no effect on the amount of fixing in standard for the power summer...?
fog is amazing in standard right now, big props to brad
A friend of mine made a standard Maze's End deck that maindecks fog. It's pretty sweet.
How much would a foil scavenging ooze be worth?
I think you guys are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaally undervaluing savage summoning.
i love how the green screen works on your water bottle
Like the first person said, I think you need to reread Enlarge, it makes it so the creature has to be blocked, not blocked by all creatures defending player controls.

I may be totally wrong here but maybe "Into the Wilds" is a hint that landfall is coming in Theros???
Evan, how many cards are in your cube? :)
didnt old phyrexia create the slivers?
Well, I was going strictly Llanowar clones, but if you go Greenweaver, you've also got Fyndhorn Elder.
Im surprised Brad didn't mention that Brindle Boar is a sac outlet. What if...there were slivers that cost phyrexian mana?
Does Brad have his owne TH-cam Chanel?
What's Brads channel?
no 20th anniversary? what about from the vault: 20!?!
Evan neglected to mention the From The Vault: 20 which clearly states on the product its a 20th anniversary product.
kalonian hydra + simic = good luck?
Gladecover scout was an awesome limited sideboard tech with my double troll hide against a UB control player. Just saying you can touch it in limited with some success.
Why did they say Moment's Peace is the best fog? I don't get it. Are they trolling?
Druid's deliverance is such a good Fog effect. My door to nothingness deck is fog crazy, won so many FNMs
Watchwolf? 2 mana 3/3???
One thing i found out about hexproofs is that if you beef them up, your opponents gonna get super scared, super quick. For instance, if you place gladecover scout on your first turn and place forced adaption on her the next turn, then you have a creature thats gonna get stronger and stronger every turn and your opponent cant say say or do nothing about it.
They're doing FTV:20 for the 20th anniversary!
Still a Great video, keep it up guys!
What is cube?
From the Vault: Twenty?
i feel like into the wilds doesnt fit in anywhere due to new land drop rules, unless im mistaken u cannot play a land the turn into the wilds procs
I think Ambush Viper is the green Doom Blade, 'cuz it has flash. Doesn't get fliers like Recluse does, though.
constructive criticism is always good. just tone it down a little ^^
if you take out the insults and attitude i agree with you that some people would have an issue with those things but i like these vids, they are entertaining. i dont mind their seemingly off topic discussions, and evan can have an opinion just like you can
14:20 lost my final at m14 pre-release to sideboarded fog -.-
Kalonian Hydra = Green Baneslayer Angel??
Vastwood Hydra is clearly an Ooze and not a Hydra. I don't really understand why it's a Hydra.
do you even saproling ?
It was in the Black review for some reason.
Limited is a very commonly played format and most printed cards are only played in limited. Bad cards for constructed may be excellent in limited!
@rdurdle88 Wizards said they only want to to multicolor as a theme only oncr every 4 or 5 years.
Anyone else think/hope Theros will be a multicolor set? I want to see some awesome 3-color spells
Starcity Trivia guy!
Deathtouch debuted in Future Sight, not Lorwyn. :)
(Thornweald Archer says hi)
mutavault in slivers?
They did it in the Blue video. They DID miss Windstorm though...
anybody else notice that they wore the same shirt for all 5 colors?
I really hope they filmed all of this in one day...
0:37:10
Brad Nelson, it's called Mutant's Prey !!
I thought the same thing too!!!
Deathtouch debuted in Future Sight, not Lorwyn.

does brad know progenitus
Put the Resonator with the Kalonian Hydra. Seems pretty powerful.
its a drafting format where you get a bunch of ppl together where you draft a set of cards you put together and play with them
0:48:45 I wonder what THAT pop is... I can see flames in it
best thing I did with Enlarge was do it on the vigilance/lifelink paladin, and then post combat played an 11 voracious wurm. :)
some guy at our pre-release pulled two of the Jaces and bramble crush saved my life
At the prerelease I made a goat token with trading post and equipped it with fireshrieker, next turn I enlarged it and swung for 14. :)
there will be a elspeth in theros, the chances for a reprint of an old planeswalker are very low.
what about garruk, worldspine worm.
OMG, I did not realize that kalonian hydra doubled all your creatures' counter. I though it was it's own counters. Holy shit.
Into the wilds is EXTREMELY good because it lets you PUT IT ON THE FIELD. The rulings still allow you to play another land for that turn.
Im typing this before i watch the videos, but i think green looks really strong
My green deck has:
4 Garruk's Companion
4 Dungrove Elder
4 Strangleroot Geist
4 Llanowar Elves
3 Scute Mob
4 Leatherback Baloth
4 Young Wolf
2 Primeval Titan
1 Viridian Emissary
1 Omnath, Locus of Mana
1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
4 Rampant Growth
2 Overwhelming Stampede
1 Green Sun's Zenith
and my side is:
1 Acidic Slime
1 Serpent's Gift
1 Solemn Simulacrum
and of course the rest is forest's I like this deck to be honest :)
In my prerelease, I had several games go turn 2 pred sliver, turn 3 blur sliver, turn 4 two more pred slivers, opponent flips table lol
"Everything else is singular, but this [elvish mystic] is plural"
BIRDS of Paradise? Don't forget him Evan!
It's one of thje best man-lands ever printed, Mishra's Factory being the best. It's a 2/2 creature of every creature type that's safe from sorcery speed removal. That's good enough, in Lorwyn block it was insane along side the Fairy man land in faries.
Legacy Elves can (but probably shouldn't) run 12 mana elves now (Fyndhorn, Llanowar, Mystic).
FROM THE VAULT 20! IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR LIKE WHAT?! 5 MONTHS? HOW DO THESE 2 NOT KNOW?!
Right now with Voracious Wurm, you can devour flesh your Tree of Redemption and you can get 13 counters or more on that Wurm.
Strionic, casual constructed? I disagree. Thing is; it doesnt have to be an enter the battlefield effect. You can play this turn 2, turn 3 geist, turn 4, swing with geist and copy the trigger to make 2 angels and punch them for at least 8 dmg in the air! The flavour text for naturalize reminds me of bane from batman
0:46:49 what about watchwolf
did green hex-proof and came first in my pre-release
Did ANYBODY notice at 48:45 Evan's bottle???
