It’s great to see how well you’ve been throwing lately. I feel like I get a really good sense of how discs will fly for me.
As a ball golf retailer I sympathize with you on venders making cross competing products and expecting me to stock the whole line up. It’s a waste of shelf space and marketing dollars and increases the chances of buyers remorse in the purchasing experience.
It was a joy to meet you and your family at the Expo! Keep up the great work!
Maybe a video on if a bead on a putter makes any difference? Most companies make beaded and unbeaded versions of the same disc you could compare in a putting contest. Use someone who swears by beaded putters and an unbeaded putter afficionado and see if they score better with their preferred version of putter.
Dunipace puts it best when he says that bead doesn't make a disc more overstable, it just makes it stay stable longer. One of the main variables that decides stability is parting line height; the more distance between the parting line and the bottom lip of the rim, the more overstable the disc is (generally). Natural wear and tear will grind that bottom lip down, decreasing it's distance from the parting line. A bead simply makes that bottom lip significantly bulkier, stronger, and resistant to that wear and tear making it beat in much slower.
I think the bead is more about feel than anything though...
You know what fun topic would be all discs with the thumbtack, something like the Rhino the devil hawk and the re-released Ching putter
I would second this. I love my thumbtrack discs! I bag and ton and I've even got the first ever thumbtrac disc (I think) hanging on my wall, the Pirahna!
This video actually sold me on the Rise! Beadless, real 5 speed that you can hammer flat and get a reliable fade. I could have waited for the Simon Line Balance but I like the idea of supporting a smaller company
I've been riding the RIse for a while now and it has never let me down.
One of the reasons a company might have two discs in a similar slot is similar to why big beer brands have so many similar products. The more you have filling the market, the more likely one of your products will get picked. And people who like your product will buy the range looking for nuances, or just to collect. Whereas a disc that’s completely different and innovative could struggle with adoption because it’s unfamiliar (even if it is great).
Love these videos! I’d love to see you do “people’s bombers” the 10 or 11/5 or 6/ -2 or -3/ 2’s that there are so very many of! Discs like the scorch, beast, jet, vanish, expanse, alva, etc are.
I'd like to see a video of older run / out of production discs ( for example Mvp Amp ) for those of us that are dusting off our old bags to play with our kids that are interested in the sport. 😊
Do not ever come down off that high horse! You beat that drum loud and proud! Flight numbers don't matter! Enjoyed the video too ha
For me, it makes sense to have multiple discs trying to fill very popular bag slots because of the hand feel. I really wanted like the zone but I hate the way it feels in my hand. Having multiple discs in the same spot let's me bag Birdie for a needed spot when I wouldn't have otherwise. That being said, I would love some Birdie discs I could throw turnover with.
Would love to see a review on the danish Northstar disc lineup :D
Haven’t thrown any of these discs. The Rise looks interesting.
That reach flies like the s line dd3 for me. Enough flippiness to flip up but will always come back. They’ve become my work horse distance driver that combines distance with accuracy.
Something that doesn't get mentioned often: While spin does affect stability a lot, I've found that avoiding wobble is just as important as getting good spin, if not more. Throwing a Techdisc showed me that I'm getting over 1100 RPM at 70mph, but up to 10-12 degrees of wobble. As a result, most of my high-speed drivers end up flipping if I throw them flat. If I manage to get a good clean release with less wobble, they fly much more overstable
Thanks for using the flight tracker so much (always?) on your videos.
Always! You are welcome!
Chicane is bomb, aced with my first throw ever with it. Still ain’t replacing the Horny Toad though.
You are quite right on the Supra/Sector, same experience here.
Strike is one of the best 7 speeds I’ve ever thrown.
Ok Greg, CLEARLY you just looked at my In The Bag…
So the Composite Sector is the most stable, followed by the Composite Supra, then the Forged Sector is straighter, and the Forged Supra is the flippiest. That’s at least how it’s been for me
Haha well, we love to explore a little bit of everything, this was a tricky one to figure out for sure. Glad you've got them nailed down though in the reply below, I don't dislike their plastic and what's going on there.
@ it’s definitely been a trial and error for the finish line mids 😂
Gonna need those pillows. What are the flight numbers?
the ultra is not quite so crazy OS in the metal flake run they did with Broderic. In the metal flake plastic it has great push before a hard fade and IMO much better hand feel than a buzzz OS.
I have an orange sector and my buddy has a clearish gold sector. My orange is definitely less stable and straighter than his clearish sector.
Got a Supra a few months back and it was flippy right out of the box. Not a super fast arm either
Ultra in Glo.
Okay, theory
Innova
Driver numbers
Are star plastic
Midrange are champion plastic
And putters are DX
BTW drop that eternal plastic freetail
Grab some Sirius plastic version and you will fall back in love with the free tail
Japanese highest selling molds vs USA. I heard their discs are capped at 150g
We all end up stable to over stable and broken in differences.
Might grab that reach.
