- Cooking in Colombia & Travel - Eating Colombian Arepas in the city of Barranquilla Colombia. In this video, I invite my two Venezuelan friends to eat some arepas and to tell me the differences between the Colombian arepa and the Venezuelan arepa.

Yo Ace, a huge part of the food culture in Barranquilla and all over Colombia is the street food. There should be places open where you can try Colombian burgers, pizza, hot dogs, skewers, maicitos, etc...

the arepas were invented in ANTIOQUIA, and spread all over the region that is compose by
the old coffe region{paisa region}Medellin,Manizales,Armenia,Pereira etc all that region in the
18th century,and became popular all over Colombia,but mostly in the paisa region,the Venezuelan adopted the Arepa,but make them different....little history from a paisa/greengo

Basically they're trying to say arepas are originally from Venezuela, not from Colombia. But if you ask a Colombian.. well, you can guess what they'll say lol. It most likely comes from the time we were one nation, "La Gran Colombia".
My grandmother would have arepas for us every weekend at her place loved her cooking.

Hi Ice, l am from Barranquilla. I just want to let you know that in Colombia, we have different kinds of arepas. It depends of the region. It is not the same the arepa paisa vs the arepa ocañera or arepas made in the Atlantic Coast. My gringo husband and l love your videos.

I'm Salvadoreño for us is the pupusa. Which is almost the same. You could also add other ingredients.
Another comfort food in Central and South America are Empanadas. Depending on what country you are in, determines the flavor. This will be a good one to put on because everyone loves them and they aren't difficult to make.

F.Y.I the brand that they speak of that is used in Venezuela is precooked corn as well, it is not wheat like the young ladie said. You can look it up the brand is P.A.N and it even has a picture of a corn on the front of the yellow packaging, Or am I missing something. I Was told both Colombia and Venezuela us corn to make arrepas...
