This was closer to being a two-minute Tuesday than a lot of actual two-minute Tuesdays! 🤣Thanks for the tip!
Agreed... Pete I miss those 2 minute Tuesdays. Any possibilities that you could start them again?
i was gonna post the same thing 🤣🤣, a great tip
Came here to say this
couldnt help but laugh haha so true
True! Still epic!
How to spend less time in post-production and more time shooting 101. Hells yeah! Thanks man!
For all german Viewers. My father is a photographer and he allways says: "Vordergrund macht Bild gesund" XD
It means Foreground makes the picture healthy but in german it rhymes : (
recht hat er ;)
The Dutch translation rhymes as well! 😜 It sounds almost the same too: "de voorgrond maakt het beeld gezond". Makes me curious where 'healthy' comes from. (Etymology freak here, my apologies!)
Jawoi 😅👍
Yeah let's just talk deutch or Netherlands to flex. Ja laten we gewoon doen wat we willen en flexen op iedereen zeg maar 😂😂
DasHeiligeToastbrot
stimmt ja auch, Vordergrund kann ein Bild echt um einiges besser machen 😍🙌
I am proud to say that I have learned about 80% of my photography knowledge from Pete. And I keep learning. Thank you Pete God bless you ❤️
Subscribing to PM is literally the reason i create youtube account! Loving the new vids. btw.
i really would go out and learn of people than pm, he is the king of b roll but hes not really a good photog
Anyone else remember when things like this used to be “2 minute Tuesday” subjects.
yeah
2020 style bro
With the official title gone he know hits the time - 2020 Style!
May be two minute Tuesday seems a bit old fashion for him ,and he doesn't keep the time limit up to two minutes even in two minute Tuesday videos sooooo.....
Im sure he will surprised us with a 2min Tuesday in the future.
Loved the quicker format, really dynamic and fun
It’s actually insane what you can do with regular household items & light sources when it comes to portraits. Me & my friend used a whiskey decanter & put a light underneath it to get this crazy glow out of the decanter.
Love it Peter! Thanks so much for the inspiration my friend! My girlfriend and I just launched our channel and were constantly inspired by your work! I’ll be carrying a glass around with us from now on!
The glass!!!
Still carrying that water bottle round you mentioned years ago 😅
I get so excited every time Pete releases a new video!!! Thankfully, that experience is coming a lot more often there days!♥❤❤
same sameee
Great tip! I keep a little three sided shard of glass in my camera bag at all times!
I always appreciate minor creative touches for photos in order to improve the over all composition and quality 👌🏻👍🏻
Just beautiful. That's all I can say... those pictures with the glass element enhanced the shot so much more!!😃🔥
Peter you can low key be a model though 🔥🙌
He's probably doing so much in his life to become one lol but I agree!
Marc you should do a photoshoot with him 😃
Peter was great in the Far Cry 5 video game! 😂
It wasn’t the same without the “what’s up guys”
*pffhwhat's*
he literally had a moment in a recent vid of 'why do i even do that' and now we know. total energy flow change. bring it back, man!
edit: i was too judgmental. doing the saaaaame thing for years and not evolving is also what drives other artists (esp musicians) totally batty. so i don't even agree with myself on the 'bring it back.' lots of viewers prolly get that dopamine hit hearing the familiarity of a catchphrase, so can be hard to let go. it's tough on artists sometimes to not alienate fans while also feeling space to explore. ultimately we just gotta respect artist's choices in the now and examine our own responses to it, come what may.
Agree
I don't like it without the "BWHAT'S UP GUYS"
John Kalaski I think people should be allowed to be authentic to themselves and the moment and their mood on the day. Do we need people to be puppets (“perform, Peter!”)? It’s like saying ‘smile for the camera!’ which is cringe.
One of my favorite things to do is putting things in front of my lenses to create more depth. It works so well for video too! Definitely try it out! Thanks for another amazing video and all the inspiration peter!
i think all your work is so amazing, the fact that you are such a good professional, a good youtuber and care to share your expertise with others is so cool, you truly are an amazing person! wish more people would be as hardworking and passionate!
So simple yet so genius.
It definitely gives you a "pop" in your photos when using foregrounds!
Truly 😍

LOL ya they do haha
Lol
@Haniel Cal I Don,t Care Bro
Haters are like nose hair. Especially irritating, and you pluck them and still keep coming back!
@Bryan J. Scrafford :)
I have been a videographer for years, but I’m just starting out in photography with the Canon 80D. I love learning new things!
Love’n the studio lighting and the new couch and art!!!!! Can’t wait to see it all finished. I hope you do a tour of it
The side angles at the desk are great! 👍
Thanks! I dig em!
Sorry but I find them really distracting.
I reacted to that as well. Great!
@@PeterMcKinnon they bring nothing to the piece, there is absolutely no reason to change the angle here, no new info with the new camera angle, they are just distracting
@@PeterMcKinnon When I was a broadcast cameraman many moons ago, a new channel started up and they started doing whacky angles and side shots for no reason other than to be different and cool and new. Much opinion at the time was that when you put up a side shot of a piece-to-camera the illusion of television is ruined - the personal feeling you have like you're being presented to alone, all of a sudden is interrupted with a realisation of the production being made. Imagine this technique being used with a newscaster - the emphasis shifts to the presenter and not the content that is broadcast. It's the same wrongness for me :) Otherwise, great vid, I'll be pulling out some beer glasses next shoot!
The way he flipped that glass at the beginning without even flinching 😱and I still cannot properly hold one without dropping it. 😂
skillzzzz
Are you serious???thats the most easiest thing in the world 🤦♂️ tol much legendary socky sock for you salma
Wooo! New photography video!
Shades of TMT, love it. This is something I started doing this fall and it's now one of my favorite tricks!
Chloe and I got some glass prisms and they work great for these kinds of shoots!
U look badass when u look directly at the camera.
That glass makes a huge difference!!! 👍👍It's amazing how you can make such cool pics with such easy things! Love it!!❤️
Literally one of my favorite people on TH-cam! Will never stop watching, videos just getting better
You could almost say this was a “Two Minute Tuesday” thanks for the tip Peter!
That was my plan :)
@@PeterMcKinnon good vibes most importantly
This could be so TWO MINUTE TUESDAY! I miss 2MT :( Anyway I love this hack 👌
This is a really cool technique. Did something similar a few months back... We were shooting some photos after sunset outside and were able to find a lone street lamp to use for our main light against some tree foliage as a backdrop. Due to lack of a fill light, we had to be a little creative so I ended up placing the cellphone flashlight right up against the lens to create a spill/flare effect right in camera. Barely needed any editing afterwards, just needed a boost in saturation and a little contrast.
I lurv these short nuggets of knowledge. Concise but invaluable. These are the type of videos from Peter which got me into the craft. Classic PM Tut! Love it!
Bro u have to start ur videos saying : What's up every body peter mckinion here welcome back to yet another new vedio , todayy .............
Yes
Bruh. Yes I mix it every time he diodes the do it
I did make a Photo Hacks video, not good video, but cool photos.
Living for these 🤩 Getting me through my photography A-Level.
I was watching your first video last night... Things have changed. I was watching your videos with long hair last night ... Much better now Peter! Love the progression. It's awesome and inspiring. Keep it up! GO CANADA.
OMG it's a great video, thanks! You inspired me to step up my photography and combine it with video! I have made a clip using your tips and your positive attitude makes me want learn more! I'd love some feedback if I'm going a good direction. I can't wait to start creating new and even better video thanx to your inspiration, Thanks!
Hi Pete, I have a feeling what you're holding might be *A Beads
Thanks Peter your videos are a huge reason i'm confident in starting my Video/Photography business. Btw love that all you awesome guys I watch on YT are married with kids. Good Men always appreciated in this world
Really great tip! I've always loved trying trying to include something in the foreground even if it's a landscape shot.
Everyone commenting 1 min after upload saying "loved the video" lmaoo😂
hahahaha
I know, but loved the video.
PWHAT’S UP EVERYBODY?!
Homers images of the deck with the glass were amazing! The glass creates a prism effect.
Love your ideas Pete, always inspiring ⛾🤙
I see the new sam kolder tones used ;)
Ahmed Diae I thought the exact same thing
Oh man, the fact that you said "I think we should stop doing 'Bwatzzup Everybody'" on your last vid makes me damn sad, and its gone 😭
Anyhow, Just Make Vids 👊
I prefer room context and less distracting elements. I think theres a reason we mostly see these kind of shots on Instagram, and not in magazines, posters, billboards and such. Definitely has its place though, so good content!
Actually did this recently during a birthday party with the serving bowls and juice dispensers! Thanks for letting me know it wasn't frowned upon.
Me: I will use books
peter: a bunch of books
Me: he approves 😂😂😂😂

10 past 12am here, PM posted a new video! what a great way to start a new day
Real useful quick hitter, good stuff as always. Love doing this when my shots are feeling bland. Keep up the awesome content, and as a current state farmer to a former one, your story inspires me hah
Brandon Woffell has been doing this for years.
That's probably one of the reasons they had a collab a while back, that they thought the same way. Brandon is definitely a master of this technique.
Anyone using a camera for more than 5 minutes has done this. One of the most pointless videos from Peter yet, and there has been quite a few lately. which is the way it goes i guess, creative burn out is real folks. take a break Peter, you deserve and need it..
LectroSoul I enjoyed it, others will have also.
LectroSoul or there are novices like me who watch this channel as well and appreciate content like this because we have no earthly clue how to do this and don’t know who other pros in the field are so we wouldn’t find our way to their channels to know they did this. Just a thought.
@@AWINningCombination Yea I hear you, good point!
4:02 I know that's a Tom Delonge signature guitar in the background. What I'm curious to know is if Peter got it as a gift from Tom himself..
I was gonna ask that too but figured somebody else probably had already. Sure enough! :)
They do lots of work together! Good catch!
i didnt realise i had been doing this for awhile now with my motorcycle photography... Its always a good technique for when your out and about to capture the environment in the shot :) Great work
Peter your work area so looks like a full on arsenal load out room!! Your place is starting to come together. Nice job.
I am waiting PM ❤️
I think you alittle bit sick right?
Oh gosh, here we go again with a crazy Instagram trend.
Every video you create is inspirational! Thanks for making such great content!
Love thinking outside of the box and ideas like this!! This is great
Is it just me or does peter looks slightly like david beckham in this video with the way his hair is set.
Can I come over to hang out? :) miss you
@GreenMan haha just watched your video! you are crazy! Peter needs to watch it too!
@GreenMan Why are you like this? hahaahahahhah
Love your font choices always
I love this geezer. The lens distortion app is also very good for this effect.
love hearing photo tips like the good old days !!!!
Photo Tutorial Video!! Love it! Great work! Love the OG PM!
oh man u love switching those camera angles when u're talking :D, love it.
I like shooting with a prism. You can do things similar to that and also get some cool mirrored reflections too.
Hey Pete I'm a great fan and always learn from you and it's a true thing that you have an exceptional mind blowing charisma.
Love ya bro!
Thanks for sharing, Peter. Most people wouldn't bother sharing what they know, but here you are sharing it to the world.
Using a sparkler like this just popped into my mind. Thanks for the inspiration!
Always excited when my boy posts a new vid!! 🙌🏻
Lets goooooooooo
Again a great tip for all photographers, thanks Peter for this "almost" 2 Minute Tuesday😁. Sometimes it is good to be remembered for the little things, which are so effective. Inspires me to play around with the foreground now, not only for portraits. Definitely will take my camera 📷
Definitely going to have to give this a try! Thanks for another awesome video Pete!
A friend asked me to do some portraits for him, now I definitely have another angle. Thanks Pete!
I love the lighting you use for your video. I’d love to recreate that for my setup.
Like the idea and I use it with rocks in the foreground when taking dynamic landscape shots, draws the eye into the detail of the photo.
I'm more of a video guy than a photo guy but this just got me so pumped and wanna go out looking for any kind of foreground and shoot photos! 😁👌
Great short tutorial- loved this one. Thanks PM ~
That was a great vid today!
I love those photography / videography hacks and tutorials 🥰
love these short photo hack videos!
This intro is hands down the best PM intro EVER!!!!!
I always thought photographers just photoshop that sort of thing in this was a really cool thing to learn definitely gonna try it out
Peter absolutely love all your tips been watching for some time and pick up a few.Always enjoy Deb 😉👌✌❤
Easy but effective! That's what I love to hear. Another bang video Peter
Fun idea Peter. Thanks! I’ll give it a try. Can’t wait !
Buzzin, absolutely going to try this, and I have a prism ordered too 🤙🏼
Dude, absolutly love your style of videos 😂
Definitely trying this out on my next photo session!
For outdoor portraits I like using flowers 🌸
Peter is now a model...nailed it!
Like it! I shot weddings and I used to put a “Prisma” in front and its very interesting! 👏🏻👏🏻 nice video bro!
Ahhhhhh, 5 min videos are refreshing. Solid, to-the-point content, spiced with a little bit of humour. 😊👍
Loving the new set up!!!!
Thanks Peter always learning from your hacks
Love your videos peter , you inspired me to give it my best.
You got my mind going on how I could incorperste this into my food videos. Thanks for the inspiration.
I am in awe how simple and useful this video is
Brah, you're like an endless encyclopedia of knowledge 👍🏻 thanks for showing us how to fish!
I'm so happy my friend suggested I watch your channel. I love you so much. 💜 You make such good content.
