I’m sure that the high end brands pay the big bucks to be featured as award winners. A pretty skewed list these days. I don’t base my judgments on Allure anymore.
Yeah I read on Estee Laundry that brands buy their way onto the list. I think both drugstore and high end, if I remember correctly.

Drug store has been stepping up the game. Allure missed the boat. Plus, I can think of 10 colourpop palettes better than that one. I do appreciate your indignation!! 😁
I agree with you! I just reviewed 13 drugstore products that performed as good if not better, than the luxury products.
I've only tried four ColourPop palettes, but The Child is my favorite. The colors in this Fade Into Hue look chalky....

I 100% agree. The Allure seal doesn't mean anything to me anymore. Feel like it's pretty well known that the "judging" is pretty bogus and a lot of brands buy their places on the list.
They should hire you, Emily Noel, and Taylor Wynn on the Allure team especially for drug store since yall review so much and know the 🔥🔥 products at the drugstore 💕💕

The fact that “best” products came out last week just makes it sound so sketchy - almost as if companies “bought” the award. Makes me question the whole process and Allure’s integrity.

I cancelled my Allure subscription a few months ago. The magazine kept getting thinner and the few tiny articles were not resonating with me. I used to love their yearly awards, but I barely pay attention to them now..

You could try the ELLE International or Grand Prix Awards? They feature some Canadian Brands, such as Marcelle and Annabelle, or Lise Watier. Those brands are really amazing and it would be fun to see an American review them!
It’s so unfair that the drugstore products don’t get the love they deserve. Especially since some of them work even better than high end products. On a side note thar eye look is giving me a beach sunset look and I am loving it.
I’ve subscribed to Allure for 30 years and yes, I think “Best of Beauty” has gotten stale. They tend to do a lot of repeat products from year to year, even after there are clearly newer, better things happening. Love the video, just wish Allure would be a little less “safe” in some of its choices.

I totally agree that they should put more effort into selecting and choosing the Allure winners. I forgot the readers award was the one that people vote on, so that one I would think is a bit more accurate, as long as they choose products to be nominated that haven't been before.
I was also disappointed with the choices this year. I do have to say I literally laughed out like when you said “I bet watermark was a pretty shade but we’ll never know” 😂 it seems like you are having the same type of disappointing day as me lol. Love you Allie!

The Covergirl Clean mascara really started working well after a couple weeks. It's became one of my favorite mascaras. It layers beautifully adding volume and length while keeping the lashes separated and defined. It wears very well staying supple without flaking or smudging.
they truly don’t put enough effort into drugstore products, although that red polish you’re wearing is stunning. i also have used the sally hansen top coat for years, and i adore that little bottle. that zoya polish is beautiful and i’d love to try it. i loveeee drugstore products and i’ve found some gems in the past couple of years. i agree that you, emily, jessica and taylor should definitely be hired by allure because you guys know your stuff. 💜

Allie, I’m 48. I would always go to the drugstore in the early-mid 90s and try to find makeup. Most of the time it would be the wrong color/ I would have an allergic reaction. I discovered Prescriptives and later MAC and never looked back. Until I started watching you. I’ve bought a TON of drugstore makeup this year because of all you’ve shown me. The quality is so much better.
First I'm so excited how your eye look turned out. I will say when I first saw the palette I was immediately intimated, but you came up with an amazing look effortlessly!! I agree, it seemed like no time or effort was put into the winners which makes a new upcoming or a brand that really put extreme time, sweat and tears into their product win and see that this was just all thrown together and not well thought over. Award for best drug store foundation: loreal Freshwear. Yes it's been on the market for a year and a half or so, but it is so beautiful on the skin. If you're able to find your shade it gives the nicest satin finish! Also, for face pallette at the drug store, the Milani all in one pallette that came out in the beginning of the year. I don't think it rivals a couple of my higher end face pallette, but for the price, the quality and versatility of it is amazing! Thanks for the video Allie; and for always including your viewers in the conversation!

I love how you totally rocked that eye shadow while speaking about the bias of Drug Store Allure Awards!! I agree how could they leave so many products out? I do think the cooler rainbow could be used in a fall look with a white/silver sweater or cool blue one. The Maybelline Lifter Gloss and Sky High def. deserving. I have found my lashes to be healthier since using the Sky High, I believe there is a Bamboo oil in it for nourishing the lashes, if I'm not mistaken.
