- This is a walk through for changing the spark plugs on the 17+ R6. I show the difference in removing the stock restricted filter. There are 2 other flaps on a part of the intake that can be taken out and made flat to increase airflow. I did not do it in this video because I was planning to do it at a later date.
Thank you!!! Finally someone doing work on this generation of r6!!!
Changed my spark plugs on my 2017 R6.This video helped a bunch… thanks
I left off that black plug seemed impossible without those kinda pliers...great video thanks again!
Those pliers have saved me in many occasions. Well worth the buy. Lol
Just did this yesterday on my 2020 Yamaha R6. It went smoothly as in the video. Till i got to this part 25:10. It took me 15 minutes to get that sucker in lol 10/10 video 👍👍 saved myself $300 in labor 😂
Glad it helped. Yea, sometimes I wonder "what were they thinking when they did that?"
@@motorich I was thinking the same thing. I did break off those two flaps and removed that compressed shield on the air filter. She runs much better now with all that air coming through.
@@AJ-pg7sb I wanted to cut off those 2 little ears but I couldn't get ahold of the owner at the time and I don't take liberites with other people's bikes.
Nice video man helped me a lot for replace my spark plugs 🙏 by the way u finally cuted the 2 things for flow more air ? If yes what results did u have ?
I did not cut them from this bike but I have from others and you can feel a difference in the top end power
Nice video broham...thanks for posting it.
Thanks for watching. Hope it helped
Thanks.
Can I have a question? Do we use Torque wrench when you tight on spark plugs?
Anyhow, thanks for your sharing!
From Taiwan r6 rider
Would cutting those guards off for more airflow change the sound of the bike?
Shouldn't really change the sound.
How many km before you change the spark plug? Your video is really Helpful bro, thanks
Probably restric the flow of air to meet emissions. Probably can have a dyno ecu reflash to compensate for the increase air
that is a pretty good thought.
It does restrict airflow. When I added a full exhaust and deleted the AIS it is a good idea to get an aftermarket air filter without that restriction boot or remove the one on the stock filter
Do you have to disconnect the battery when working with the coil packs/ spark plugs?
No... don't have the key on and you will be fine
Hey bro great video🙏
What is the exact name of that plastic between de airfilter and the frame?
There is no proper name for it. Yamaha refers to it as a "cover assy 1"

Nice! Thx!
Why didn't you cut the diffusers off while you had that piece off?
Because it was not my personal bike. It was a customer bike and he didn't answer when I called him. I don't take liberties with other people's bikes
