Why is Yilan a good base to visit Taroko National Park, Taiwan? Day 5&6

  • Day 5 & 6, we explored the wonderful town, Yilan before a full day at the Taroko National Park. It was our first time on the electric mountain bicycles on this trip and it was all worth the additional effort. Please note that this video was recorded on a week prior to the devastating Taiwan earthquake in April 2024. Our thoughts are with those affected by the disaster.
    Here are all the attractions at Yilan and Taroko National Park:
    Yilan District
    Yilan District is a region in northeastern Taiwan, known for its picturesque landscapes, hot springs, and vibrant cultural scene.     Yilan Bus Transfer

    Yilan Train Station
    Yilan Train Station is a key railway station on Taiwan’s Eastern Line, providing efficient rail services to and from the district. It serves as a vital link for residents and tourists, offering connections to major cities and scenic destinations in eastern Taiwan.
    Yilan Cultural and Creative Park
    The Yilan Cultural and Creative Park is a vibrant space dedicated to the arts and culture, housed in a former distillery complex. It features galleries, workshops, and event spaces that host various exhibitions, performances, and cultural activities, promoting local creativity and heritage.
    Diu Diu Dang Forest Park
    A large scale art display canopy resembling a forest with a flying train across the road from the Yilan train station. It is a great location to take photos.
    Kavalan Distillery

    Taroko National Park Visitor Center

    Shakadang Trail
