Why is Yilan a good base to visit Taroko National Park, Taiwan? Day 5&6

Day 5 & 6, we explored the wonderful town, Yilan before a full day at the Taroko National Park. It was our first time on the electric mountain bicycles on this trip and it was all worth the additional effort. Please note that this video was recorded on a week prior to the devastating Taiwan earthquake in April 2024. Our thoughts are with those affected by the disaster.

Yilan District

Yilan Cultural and Creative Park
The Yilan Cultural and Creative Park is a vibrant space dedicated to the arts and culture, housed in a former distillery complex. It features galleries, workshops, and event spaces that host various exhibitions, performances, and cultural activities, promoting local creativity and heritage.
Diu Diu Dang Forest Park
A large scale art display canopy resembling a forest with a flying train across the road from the Yilan train station. It is a great location to take photos.
Kavalan Distillery
Kavalan Distillery, located in Yilan, is renowned for its award-winning single malt whiskies. Visitors can tour the facility to learn about the whisky-making process, taste different varieties, and explore the distillery's rich history and contribution to Taiwan's beverage industry.
Dongmen Night Market

Shakadang Trail
