If memory serves, you can thank Tom Kalinski, yup, of SEGA Genesis fame for all of this. He-man came from his research for boys where Barbie was huge for girls, Mattel wanted something for boys and looks like it paid off
Remember seeing this in christmas catalogues. I already had Castle Greyskull, Snake Mountain and the Fright Zone. But by the time this came out, I began spending my pocket money on (punk rock) albums... Never seen one in the wild here in Germany
@Pixel-dan can't wait to see it fully complete. I've been hunting down motu classics and I ALWAYS go back to your first videos to see rhe reviews. You definitely inspired me to collect that toy line, just your collection you have displayed WOW 👌.
And your journey continues into 2024. I wish you all the best Dan on your journey to completing your Eternia playset. I will be looking forward to you showing us the videos of your hunt for the pieces.
As a kid, my older cousin had this, as well as the son of my mom's best friend. My tiny kid brain didn't process how crazy that was. When my cousin outgrew his he-man stuff, my uncle gave it all to me. Sadly, he had broken the palace. A bunch of pieces were missing, and the snake tower was just gone. I ended up selling it all off, and nowadays, I kind of wish I had kept it and worked to re-complete it
I actually got this for Xmas 1986 and I loved it. The monorail broke but otherwise I have all original pieces in good to great condition. I ultimately bought a repro monorail track to finish it up so my kids can enjoy it. Thanks for the video.
I had the Eternia playset as a kid, and it was kept in my Dad's basement until a fire in 2001. It was well loved, but I had most everything to it. I found out a couple years ago it wasn't lost in the fire and had been moved to a shed outdoors. But eventually animals got in and ruined most of what remained. It was an amazing toy, and I used it well after MOTU was over.
Well now that I have finished the episode: I wish you luck on finding your missing pieces to Eternia. A truly historic landmark type piece to the Masters Of The Universe collection Personally I don't collect much vintage action figures because im super sensitive on Articulability 😭 (but no disrespect to you if you do collect vintage toys) which is why I love MOTU Origins it's a way for me to connect with He-Man's history in a way that the overspecific collector in me (just to warn you I exaggerate a lot XD) can be happy! And besides they are so fun I only wish I had more I for one can't wait for MY Journey to get a fully functional MOTU Origins Eternia (even though it was through a crowdfund but who cares I'm very ambitious) but in the meantime I cant wait for YOUR Eternia to be completed. Good luck to you Dan! And Congratulations on the already found pieces to your Eternia!
I recently completed mine last year, it's such a beauty. I'm hoping to go after the overseas Blue Eyed version, but it's way harder to find and I've only seen one at a bad time.
Awesome process. I've resolved that this will never be part of my collection (not that I wouldn't take it as a gift or something), but I would be happy to even have the central tower one day.
My dad bought me the Eternia playset when it came out, it was missing several pieces new in the box. So I could imagine completing an Eternia playset is even harder than anyone knows.
Cool video, look forward to future updates. My cousin managed to complete his this past year and he even has all the unbroken track pieces, although he also got a repro track for the actual display so he can actually run the monorail without breaking the originals.
Hi and thank you very much Pixel Dan for this great video and for letting us know how you are completing your Eternia playset, I hope you can complete it and tell us how you did it, stay heavy and blessings! 🤘😎
I'm looking into the Zoids weapons that came with them from the 80's to now, and yes the gold plastic from the 80's and 90's did suffer from the GPS where it broke or crumbled away when you touched it. Also, you should look at 3D Printers to print new track
Always wanted this. I remember seeing it in a store called Glomans as a kid. And it was a big box & I was told it was expensive. One of the only vintage MOTU toyline things I don’t have(missing the giants & laser figs too). I saw the central tower at Greensboro NC show once and really wish I had bought it. I’d be happy just owning 1 or 2 of the towers at this point. Love seeing you completing yours! Toy Fed is awesome btw
Fantastic video of your journey to complete the mighty Eternia! I'm trying to complete a vintage G1 Fortress Maximus and parts alone are expensive. Looking forward to the competition of Eternia!
Hey Dan thanks for signing our Castle Grayskull Box a few years ago at the Power Con. We are trying to finish the Eternia playset also. Your book definitely comes in handy.
It's my grail piece as well. The problem of course is the fact that the track is apparently really brittle and I'd absolutely love to be able to hook it up and see it work in all of its glory. I was also a die hard MOTU fan in the hey day and never knew about this piece either and can not imagine how much fun I would've had with the monorail if I had known about it. I still have my Grayskull, Snake Mountain, Hordak's Lair, Point Dread, and Slime Pit and would love to have this as well. A few years ago a guy bought a graded one in the box from Dallas Vintage Toys for $25,000! I asked them about it and they said the guy took out a second mortgage to buy it!
Saw the original as a little kid at a local toy store. Sadly I asked my dad if Santa was gonna bring me this. He then looked at it and said Son let's take a walk. At age 9 he told me the broad truth. That there was no Santa and said since he was the one working and mom wasn't, there was no chance I would get Eternia.
A few years ago, the store I work for near Chicago got a huge MotU lot in. There was a lot of interest in Eternia, as it was nearly complete. Ended up taking a chance and ultimately a loss by listing it on eBay.
I have the blue piece if you still need it. My daughter's boyfriend found a box of old toys about to be thrown out, there were lots of Eternia pieces in there, some Blaster Hawk and Fright Fighter pieces and even Ninjor's nunchucks
Still working on completing mine. I try to get a piece every few months or so. Some lots of some great pieces I needed came up on Goodwill but the bids went through the roof!
I haven't finished the video yet I just got off the sponsor part (still watching this is Eternia we're talking abt) but dude u rlly know how to advertise! If I was in charge of marketing my own brand of action figures I'd get you to be the... whatchamacallit!
Great video! Getting close! I completed mine a number of years ago plus getting the box, instructions, story and comic. I even bought reproduction tracks so i wouldnt use the originals. Dont forget on your monorail car aside from the gun and windshield, i noticed you need the 2 wheels as well on the bottom but i m sure you knew that. Lol
Yeah these toy. Completion journeys are fun. I doubt I’ll own an eternia or half the motu in your collection. But I can enjoy seeing them on your vids. Matter of fact, I’ve been jonesing for some Motu classics. I missed. Out on these. Minus 1 I found on clearance on BBToys during its ending (of matty collectors). Tuskador, not the most sawed after but I found him, to be , amazing & just wanted a piece of this wonderful line. So today I’m going research your old vids😁👍
That is awesome Dan i am trying to build the main tower my self and some parts are hard to come by in my budget range but i think i will make a visual part list also do you know what size screws is for the Eternia becuse i don't have any screws at all. Thank you for any help ful info and have a great Holiday
I am looking at some of those parts. too Those large blue clips. If I had one I could make a Resin cast mold of them & Probably some of the other parts too. Parts are hard to come by i know. I just casted parts Of the technodrome playset The Eye part & krang's escape hatch. I heard not so easy to find the parts. But Resin casting mold Making. I began last summer I bought a Loose metalhead michaleangelo & I casted the parts from metalhead for him. Also I think all those blue clips are same mold aren't they? Not too many people make parts resin casts for eternia playsets I see too But that is cool you got an Eternia now. For me I am just happy to get the new one I am fine with the new one. Good luck completing the rest. Some of those parts would be big money makers. If people can make molds Resin cast for them. OH For the Ladder. My transformers has that dreaded gold plastic that is brittle.I thought about coating some in Super glue & baking soda. I was thinking maybe that would create a protective shell for it. I be nervous to make a mold of the ladder. But best to 3D print a copy of it.
When you get the repro tracks, please post a link, and explain why you chose them. I'd love to buy repro tracks for mine as well. Also, red seat gun has a windshield you're missing.
On the white monorail car, I'm sorry to say that won't complete it. You also need the long and short little red wheels that snap into the bottom of it. It's supposed to roll also. I'm not sure if you mentioned it or not but do you have the little silver part that a lot of people mistake as a wrench but is in fact the little thing that you push to work the jaw of eternia entrance. It comes up through the floor so you can push it which will raise the lower jaw and release it which will lower the lower jaw
Even the most hardcore collector of non repro can't fault one for having repro when it comes to the mono trail tracks. They litterarly break when assembling them, I am not even joking. IMHO, repro for the mono rail should be preferred and accepted. Anything else is stupid. Sure, have the original mono rail parts if you can get them, but never ever use them
Hey Dan I'm looking for anti venom 3.75 figure, the next time you visit the local toy store, or vender can check for me & let me know the store, vender name & phone number, thanks for your help!!!!!
So glad we could help you with this! Looking forward to seeing you complete it!
You guys are awesome!
So glad to see u bro . Toy federation rules
How do you feel about this episode?
I like it
I like it
Feels like you are setting a goal for yourself to get eternia as complete as possible before March for a really good side by side comparison.
I love it. Wish I got to meet ya at Power Con.
Great job 👏
I’ve never been a completist….but this was a really fun one to watch. I love collectors pulling together to help each other out.
If memory serves, you can thank Tom Kalinski, yup, of SEGA Genesis fame for all of this. He-man came from his research for boys where Barbie was huge for girls, Mattel wanted something for boys and looks like it paid off
This gets me excited for the origins Eternia release coming soon 🙌!

These are my favorite kinds of videos. Finishing a collecting journey is such a wonderful feeling. Congratulations it looks fantastic!

That's amazing he put that in the trade. Definitely a true friend in collection.
Such a great vid Dan, really cool to get a look into "the hunt" and see your progress on completing the Eternia playset.

I typed a paragraph again 💀😭
We just bought a complete Eternia Playset, I never realized how huge this thing was until we saw it in person.
Great video, would love to see more videos like this where you dive into some rare pieces of your collection and how you got them
I recently completed mine last year, it's such a beauty. I'm hoping to go after the overseas Blue Eyed version, but it's way harder to find and I've only seen one at a bad time.
I'm so glad u were able to half complete this play set pixel dan
The weapons are really cool - I love the dart launcher!
You're right, it was towards the end of the masters of the universe fever & not many cared about that play set.
Awesome process. I've resolved that this will never be part of my collection (not that I wouldn't take it as a gift or something), but I would be happy to even have the central tower one day.
I would love to see more videos like this where you complete items in your collection.
My dad bought me the Eternia playset when it came out, it was missing several pieces new in the box. So I could imagine completing an Eternia playset is even harder than anyone knows.
Oh wow! Really!?
Good luck on your journey to complete Eternia. It’s a fun scavenger hunt. I think it took me three years to get all the missing parts for mine.
Cool video, look forward to future updates. My cousin managed to complete his this past year and he even has all the unbroken track pieces, although he also got a repro track for the actual display so he can actually run the monorail without breaking the originals.
The MOTU Eternia Playset looked Totally Amazing! I enjoyed the Video! Very Interesting and Entertaining. Thanks Pixel Dan for Sharing! 😎😎😎👍👍
A review when it is complete would be nice. Also that cat face at the front looks incredible.
Awesome. I hope you get the remaining pieces!
Looking forward to my Creations one in a few months! Don’t know were I will put it…
Toy Federation is a great place and whenever I'm up in South Carolina visiting family I make it a point to stop by.
Awesome 🔥😎 always love seeing a fellow toy collector completing a toy and finding those final pieces!!!
Loved to get a sort of behind the scenes instead of just a review
Im so thankful I bought mine complete 20 years ago. It was expensive even then.
Hi and thank you very much Pixel Dan for this great video and for letting us know how you are completing your Eternia playset, I hope you can complete it and tell us how you did it, stay heavy and blessings! 🤘😎

I have the blue piece if you still need it. My daughter's boyfriend found a box of old toys about to be thrown out, there were lots of Eternia pieces in there, some Blaster Hawk and Fright Fighter pieces and even Ninjor's nunchucks
I know Raul El Pelon a lot but reproduction tracks a while back. And they fit perfectly if my memory serves.
Still working on completing mine. I try to get a piece every few months or so. Some lots of some great pieces I needed came up on Goodwill but the bids went through the roof!

Oh Merry Christmas Dan

I hope you complete it before or as the new one from Mattel comes. That would be an awesome thing.
Thanks for sharing I hope 2024 is the year you find the last pieces!
I hope so too!
Wow cool i guessed eternia news a few days back when you did the wave 2 review for tmnt.
I never knew about that one. The He-Man USS Flagg equivalent.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing 🫶
That Blaster looks like it might be Mantech
Amazing trade video. For historical reference 😂❤
I remember it being marked down. I had no idea what it was. I had moved on to NES at that time.

Hu, how much did you paid for the pieces? And how much do you thing a full set would cost? I never saw this before but it looks sick once finished!
Mmmmhhhhh! So good 👍😊
Hi Dan, I've watched your videos. Love them. Can I ask you any updates about the MOTU Origins Eretnia play set please.

The shipping is still on track for Spring 2024. The box artwork was shared recently via e-mail to all backers.

Hey dan great video like always, hey i have something i want to show you but i cant send you messages.
Have you ever lost acessories and try and buy them back? I think that's the worst. Guide luck on your journey
As a complete know nothing viewer, can I get a ballpark figure for how much completing your set will likely cost.
@Nynjaofanothercolor
How much would you sell an UNOPENED Vintage 1984 Mattel Princess Of Power Action Figure Bow and Arrow?
Toy federation sent me 😊
You must be pretty well off, so I’d say yes. Yes you will
Curious why bother with the original when they re released it a little while ago why not get that one
