    Should I trim my Crimson Queen or not? Thanks for watching & subscribing.😀

    I could see a slight trim to counter weather changes like heavy rains. Beautiful tree. That color brightens my mood every time I see it.

    Love your tree. Mine needs definitely some prunning. How long do they normally last if ours is 17 years old, I imagine a long time right ?

    • @HomeFix19

      Thank u! From what I understand, Japanese Maples can live to be over 100 years old (under the right conditions).

  • @jerodthomas5690
    @jerodthomas5690 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a few of these in my yard and I'm going to experiment with a bonsai style trim on one if not all of them. Hopefully I won't jack it up🤞 Pruning is also good for the health of the tree the bonsa cut or a good layering will allow sun into the branches and trunk which in turn helps prevent dead branches.

    • @HomeFix19
      @HomeFix19  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    She's beautiful! Thanks for age, gives me a good mental time line and proper expectations. It would be so nice to see one grow up from a small sappling to 16yrs old.

    Absolutely stunning... Personally, I would heavily prune it into a more decorative and classic form. The trunk structure is amazing and mature...
    Have you produced any cuttings? You could be making a killing off cuttings from that tree.

    • @HomeFix19

    Beautiful! I just bought my Crimson Queen. I live in zone 7 and unfortunately the only place I can plant it is in full sun. I Will be planting it next to my Green Japanese Maple so in a few years from now it should give it some late afternoon shade I hope! In the meantime do you think it will be okay in full sun? Thankyou.

    • @HomeFix19
      @HomeFix19  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should be ok as long as it gets some shade & plenty of water down to the root in the soil.👍🏾

    I don't trim our crimson tree. I will trim the ends so that they're all the same length. So the bottom is a perfect straight line. That's all I do. Our tree is about 5' tall and when it rains the branches get full of water and the ends do hit the ground. It's all OK though. Once it dries out it perks right back up.
    I wouldn't trim anymore than 2" off the ends. I don't touch the rest of the tree. Your tree is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

    Lovely tree; definitely needs work. 1) that landscaping fabric needs to be removed for the optimum health of the tree, 2) Those branches need selectively pruned to both stylize for beauty (especially when bare in winter) and to thin it out to get light distribution to the parts of the tree you want to survive. They are a very _feminine_ tree, and "supposed" to be light and airy, if you're into that. When it comes down to it, it's probably well-enough established, but you do not want to prune it until that first flush of growth hardens off. Best advice on the subject of pruning dissectum jap. maples on YT would be from Peter Chan of Herons Bonsai. video title: Shaping a Dissectum Maple for Bonsai

    I have white rocks below my crimson tree. The rocks got really dirty, so I sprayed some 5% bleach on the rocks while I was Powerwashing the side of my house this spring. I thought it would be okay since TH-cam Powerwashing videos say that plants will be okay as long u water it before and after. My crimson hasn’t been doing good all year and now has a big bald spot. Please ask the expert for any advice?!? I just hope it recovers!!! This is my first year and just got this house and don’t know what is normal/not normal. Thanks!!!!

    • @HomeFix19
      @HomeFix19  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no! The next time I speak a tree expert, I’ll ask them your question. Just keep watering it in the branches & root, in the meantime.
