    Canon F1 everyday of the week, and twice on Sunday. I also like a Canon FTb, as it’s my first SLR.

    Love the Canon F1 and prefer the Nikon F2 over the F3. My opinion. Also love my many Nikomat FTn cameras.

    My #1 is my Olympus OM-1 for my best landscape and portrait shots. The finder is so bright, and I can always nail focus, however long that may take. I use an AE-1 program for my quick, walking around town or vacation shots, and a Canon Elan II whenever I need AF, usually only at night. A couple point and shoots or a polaroid for backups when I want something lighter than my AE-1P.

    The Canon F-1 is an underrated beast of a camera.

    My favorite camera of all time is the Nikon F. I do not have the camera any longer but I miss that camera. I just loved the totally mechanical aspect of it. I still own Nikons, gravitate to them, the glass keeps you coming back for more!

    Seriously, I'm in love with my Topcon Unirex. I will have to compare it with the Minolta XG-1 I ordered. But I'm seriously looking into a Minolta x-700 if the xg-1 turns out well.

      I was honestly not very familiar with the Topcon until you posted this. I just watched a video of it and I love the simplistic design. I really like how a lot of the settings are built into the lens/mount. Thank you!

    Nikkormat ft2 top choice because it has a quiet shutter and its part ot a system with 5 Nikkor lenses and an Nikon FE body.
    Nikon D300s is my work camera to earn a crust with. I can't use my old non AI lenses on a FE2.
    2nd choice is a Yashica fxd quartz with a 50mm f2 ml lens automatic or manual. I replaced the perished body covering with a kit from Ebay and now it's pristine.
    I have a Rollei B 35 and an Olympus Af1 with the really sharp 35mm 2.8 lens. Always in my pocket or bag.
    35mm are toys compared with my medium format cameras.
    Yashica Mat from 1957, Kiev 6c with the 90mm Vega 2.8 lens and a Rolleicord 111.

    For ME, the Nikon F3HP is the King. Perfect weight and form factor. A lot of Nikon shooters talk about the F2(AS). I have a very strong preference for shooting in Aperture Priority over Manual.

    • @urwholefamilydied
      @urwholefamilydied 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's just an F3 with some sort of viewfinder mod. The best (manual) Nikon is the FM3a and second is the FE2. 4000th shutter speed. Better metering system through the viewfinder. Unless having a removable prism is a must for whatever reason.

    My faves - the Nikon F3 and the Leica IIIg. I also own an FG - a hidden jewel in Nikon's lineup.

    Hi! Nice video. I’m thinking about Minolta X-700 or Canon A-1, any suggestions?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I have both of those cameras and they're both pretty awesome. I must say though, the Minolta X-700 has always been one of my all time favorites. Very simple camera but has the ability to switch to aperture priority, which can really help save time. The A-1 is also quite nice and is a little more automatic, which can also be nice. They both have plenty of good, inexpensive lens options and are very reliable. I probably like the X-700 more for purely aesthetic reasons (I find the A-1's auto selector a little clunky).

    I have 3 favorite film cameras, my k1000, my AE1 non program, and my F3. I got two F3s, polaroid pack film back, three lenses, power winder, flash,and 6 rolls of expired illford film for $280 fully working, and since I've got it I abandoned my k1000 😔 and have been shooting with the 85 f1.8 lense. I love it, I take that with the power winder and my sony A7RII to every shoot I do. And it never dissapoints.

    Hard to beat a F3. Pop a motor drive on it !

    • @urwholefamilydied
      @urwholefamilydied 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't pop a motor drive on it... you're shooting film which these days is over a buck a shot. Don't throw something on your camera just to make it bigger and heavier for no reason.

    Hi I have no experience with the camera yet, what is better or more suitable for someone like me? Canon ae-1 or Minolta srt101 or minolta x 700 or pentax k1000 or Nikon fm2 or any recommendation?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Aeriyan, I have owned and shot with all of the cameras you mentioned. They're all great cameras but some have more features than others. I think if you're just starting out, you should got with something simple and learn how to expose everything manually. Both the Minolta SRT101 and the Pentax K1000 would be great choices for that.

    Between the Canon A-1 vs Olympus OM1 which one do you recommend?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question and in the end, I think it really comes down to aesthetics and personal preference. you will get great results from either. I am a Canon/Nikon guy and just shot with my Canon A-1 today. I personally prefer the Canon A-1 to the Olympus OM-1, though I do regularly carry an Olympus XA in my pocket.

    • @ashleyserrano16
      @ashleyserrano16 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Filmboy24 I'm new to the film photography crew and I'm in search of a camera but I'm very indecisive. I've been thinking about Canon A-1 or AE-1, Olympus OM 1, even a Pentax k1000. I've asked around and was told the Canon will need batteries for I think it was the meter. I have the Canon EOS Rebel T6i ( but I've been using my phone lately ) what would you recommend for someone new to film photography?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ashleyserrano16, to be totally honest, if you really want to learn the actual basics of film photography, you should do yourself a favor and get a very basic, manual camera. This will force you to work on your shutter speed & f-stop settings for each shot and give you a better understanding of what they do. The first ones that come to mind are the Nikon EM, Canon FT and the Pentax K1000. I've used all 3 and they're all pretty inexpensive and have interchangeable lenses that produce great results. I'd pick up a 50mm F1.8 and a 28mm f2.8 for whatever camera you choose for starters. These lenses will cover pretty much anything you'll need to get started. I'd also start with a basic film, like some fresh Kodak Gold 200 or 400 speed and practice, practice, practice :)

    I can't really argue with that, but what about the FG's big brother the FA?
