With roots a jetting would be a temporary fix. The will always still be a cracked pipe allowing the roots to grow right back in. My advice: have your drain lines scoped before buying a home. If there are roots I highly suggest either moving on, or not buying the home unless the seller agrees to pay to have it fixed.
