Interesting. Basc haven't replied to my email or answered the phone, definitely won't be renewing next time👎. Basc seems to letting us shooters down regularly now😢
Thanks for giving us more options for cover, I won’t be renewing my basc membership as like you I see it of the upmost importance in having legal cover.
We had a meeting with BASC when pistols were about to be taken from us. They were not interested in what we were telling them. They showed no interest in pistol shooters, I stopped paying from then. Obvious they had their own agenda.
Shared this video with a fellow shooter who will now stop his membership. He has contact with a BASC director so will be interesting to hear what they say off the record. Your video's are always very informative
Getting very fed up with BASC. Have asked why they cant set up a members fighting fund like they have just done for legal challenges but the person I am speaking to says they would have no control over it. Will give it 1 more try then will start looking I think
Thank you very much for pointing out this Issue with the BASC. And like you said, why weren't any of the members sent an email to Inform them of this major policy change. Absolute discrace In my book. Anyway, I've now cancelled my BASC membership and have joined the Country Cover Club. And by doing so I am also saving £50 a year membership fee as well. Can't be bad eh 👍
BASC are dying due to their unswerving commitment to their own wallets and not giving a toss about about anything other than game and deer shooting that suit them.
Thank you so much for your invaluable advice. I want to do all my homework before I start the process of attaining insurance, then hopefully sport/ range/ match shooting with friends. I'm midlands based, do you have any advice/ info you could share on good clubs and best way to get started in the sport with friends? I can tell how passionate you are about the sport, thanks again for what you do for us beginners.
From what I’m planning o do at present (first timer just looking into getting started) C3 or CPSA seems like the best options... does anyone know of CPSA cover works for first time applicants or is it renewals only?
My license was revoked a couple of years a go have reapplied just pending at the moment as they didn’t want a refusal on my record they said to me just waiting for the visit which we see will happen after that I have cancelled my BASC and gone with the ngo but will be going with gunplan
My basc membership has arrived today and as I read throuh the documents I notied that the legal insurance had gone so I call them up and asked why ? I was told that they couldnt get an underwiter to take the insurance on for there members. I will certainly be looking into another organisations.
I smell porky pies, there are plenty of underwriters offering this type of insurance, moreover I was told it was "in the best interests of the members" to cut the cost.
@@EnglishShooting I have just asked BASC on facebook why they dropped the legal insurance . within a few minutes they replied with a link to a there website page on dropping the leagal insurance and tonly a few members used it and it costs. so i replied and asked. Did you at any point email/ survey the members and ask them if they wanted to keep legal insurance as apart of a package. or pay an extra premium and I noticed that since you removed this cover from my membership didn't go down. that was 3 hours ago. no reply
I've been a member close on 3years. airgun shooter but I pay £82 SAME AS anybody. I've decided to apply for firearms and the local club reopened after covid19. Im reading this issue thusly.... if GMP refuses my fac BASC no longer will take up the case if they think its a bad call as they used to, am I reading things correctly??? cheers folks.
What about Shooter's Rights Association do they still exist or provide cover. I am hoping that OCR at some point does a membership scheme so I can help.
I got revoked 3 years ago and was going to apply again this year, had only renewed my BASC 2 weeks before they announced the withdrawal of the cover. How can they take members money without giving them full disclosure at the time. Looks like I’m fucked now as the police have said they are going to refuse me.
So, being new to shooting, why would you need legal expenses cover? Under what circumstances is having this a big plus for a shooters? Is it just aimed at FAC holders?
when you say new to shooting be more specific. if you have an FAC or shot gun licence you need the safety net of legal cover. if you are just shooting 12 ft lbs air rifle that doesn't require a licence then you should make sure you have at least public liability to cover your arse just in case of an accident. If you are doing any kind of shooting without any kind of insurance cover you are being irresponsible
Alan Bush. New to airgunning. About 12 months now. I’ve read & learnt a lot but I was just trying to gauge why legal expenses might be a necessary thing to have- ie under what circumstances might one need it. As for the comment about irresponsibility, I am asking questions to make an informed decision & get others opinions on the best way to go. I already have BASC membership & therefore insurance but it doesn’t include legal expenses as explained. This is why I’m toying with the idea of whether to get it or not.
The NRA continue to make monstrous decisions time and time again and yet there is still a devout following who can't see how much better the organisation could be. They are too petrified in upsetting the status quo that they continue to let our sport be eroded away.
Thank you for taking the time to give us insurance options.
No problem at all, thanks for watching!

They still do a lot of good work for game and hunting, I just don't think they do enough for sport shooters.

Brilliant video mate. Thank you for the research and time invested here! I appreciate it.
I'm a BASC member... for now.
Glad it was helpful!

Scottish Target Shooting (STS) is another option for folk in Scotland.

Your advice/information is as always very much appreciated, thank you.

Thanks for watching! Glad to be helpful :-) you should have a look at Worcester Norton www.wnsc.co.uk/ I've heard really good things about this club.
@@EnglishShooting thank you
useful info , may be with the withdrawing of that insurance it will bring the cost of being a member . but i dont think so

Hi Calum I have got my license back a good return only a month and it was back

I was told they poll the membership regularly, funny enough whilst I was a member I was not asked.

Update
A few of the providers mentioned here have since WITHDRAWN legal expenses cover for first-time grants… check the police carefully folks!
What about Shooter's Rights Association do they still exist or provide cover. I am hoping that OCR at some point does a membership scheme so I can help.
Good luck getting them on the phone or getting whoever it is to ring you back. You'll speak to a child whos grandfather is never there. No thanks.

The NRA...where do I start...knowing some insider knowledge of all the drama behind it

Hey brother, sent you an email, let me know what you think.
