The speakers look like that because of rolling shutter. On a normal camera, it's up to down, but since the video is on vertical mode, the rolling shutter is right to left.
In reality the speakers are moving up and down normally

There's no such thing as “low frequency mode”. That mode you're using is a debug mode made for JBL to diagnose any issues with it. Listening to music with debug mode active can potentially cause damage

You can tell by the creasing in the surround that the speaker is being pushed to its mechanical limits, so be careful not to damage it. Cool video tho (also great representation of the rolling shutter effect)

It's not really unbelievable. It's just how it's designed snd how speakers work in a box along with passive slave radiators and DSP tuning.
Sound quality is very decent for what it is but it's fur sure no HiFi experience

No such thing as LFM. It's a debug mode and it can damage your speaker. Besides, most JBL speakers can't even access that debug mode anymore

It's used when a frequency goes missing or isn't being processed by the dsp correctly, so they turn it off to see if they can restores the spectrum. It will damage your speaker if you use it for normal music and anything over 70 percent volume in this mode will cause permanent damage.
