Tristan is the most patient guy in the universe. He was so serious and gave great answers trying to help. Getting cut rolls with air balls from a tomahawk.... wow.
@@Latitude64 Yeah, Latitude, their humor is really understated. I love it. Plus the actual education crammed in each video is so much that these should be archived for new players.
16:50 Best advice was - If you make it in the basket then you don’t have to worry about what it does on the ground. - As a new player that changed my game: …Aces every time now.
I've only been playing disc golf for a few months and your videos have been so helpful. The tutorial videos of Johnathon learning are perfect for beginners. It turns out the UK's only disc golf manufacturer is only 1km away so I had their starter set then I've added a few more discs since. Interestingly my friend who knows nothing about disc golf came for his first ever round. I only have 2 latitude discs, a grace and a river, he picked those 2 out as his 2 favourite discs after trying every disc I have during the round.
Oh man, this was great! Tristan, well done sir. Loved adding cut rolls to your putting conversation Jonathan haha. Lastly, Tomas, your reactions make these things SO much better. Keep em comin'! I'd have to say the most important term from a concept/ fundamental stand point has to be OAT. Off axis torque is bad mmmkay. All that wigglin' an wobblin' an fluttin' an stuff, just takes away speed and control. You want to try an avoid that, mmkay. Sorry, I don't know why Mr. Mackey showed up. Anyway.... Best term, for me is Hyzer Flip. First it sounds cool. But mainly for the fist time you "really" do it on purpose. Every person I've taught has the same reaction when the do it well for the first time. And for most, it's when their brain expands to the possibilities of disc golf, and they love it. Because to really do one (accurate and on purpose), you have to have a certain set of skills already, and put them all to use at the same time. It's a beautiful moment, and a beautiful skill to have. ESPECIALLY in the woods... or low ceilings.
Getting "niced" should be number 1. The grenade I always called a pancake cuz it flopped flat like a pancake. "Thumber" I've always called the reverse tomahawk. Not familiar with some of the grip names. I though flippy is just understandable as hell but now that I see this I have a flippy disc in my bag (I can't trust it either). Thanks for the vid!
Number 1 should be "x-step", because: When you enter a pub at 7pm, have a lot of drinks and leave the pub at 4am, you are learning "x-step" naturally the most easiest and funniest way.☺ A few drinks more and you can also learn the meaning of the disc-golf term "spit-out", which is not mentioned in this video...😂
I as a new player this year myself absolutely love your videos. Tomas is very good at simplifying what he is trying to teach while being very effective. Side note I don't use latitude 64 discs. I like the feel of Innova star plastics. But you guys are my go to for learning the sport
You're missing out. That Swedish plastic is Amazing. They make all the DD disc as well and several others. If you're new to the sport, try out a Pearl. You'll be hooked.
Last round i tried to do the TOMAHAWK but i kinda messed up my X-STEP because i was in a PATENT PENDING position and had the STABLE disc turn FLIPPY on me. It turned out to be a THUMBER that AIRBOUNCED and did a CUT ROLL in the end. I used a MODIFIED FAN GRIP and i think i should have gone with a POWERGRIP. Fact is the the OAT was way off and the HYZER should have been ANHYZER and i might have been my GRIPLOCK or that i got NICED. Well i finished off the hole by doing a GRANADE FLEX SHOT that i thought was going to AIRBALL but in last second i luckely got an ELEVATOR. I really need your help to throw proper.
Could you please do a video about stable vs unstable discs? I am a beginner and struggling with this term. Should I only use (over)stable discs as a beginner? What is the difference exactly and when would you choose which one. Thanks for the wonderful content on your channel! Subscribed 😊
Hey, Johan. Welcome :). Thats a great idea, will for sure make a video about this. . What I've heard is understandable is more on the beginner side of things (if you're looking to throw straight) /Jonathan

Hey Justin. I wanted it to be at least a little bit fun and some what believable for Tristan and not a obvious prank call :). Hence not using every word. /Jonathan
Basically what you have to do when things don't go well. Say your drive hits a tree and shanks off deep into the woods. Bogey, is to be expected from there, you "scramble" your way out. If you end up getting par (or better) you "scrambled" to get it. It wasn't the way you drew it up to get a birdie. In actual terms it means if you are outside of C2 in regulation, which is 2 strokes from par. So if you don't hit C2 on a par 3 with your drive you technically are in "scramble" mode. And that's what they add up to get Scramble% So on a perfect day, you will never have the chance to scramble. On a good day, you will have a really high scramble% (meaning you got par or better) with let's say 5-9 attempts. On a bad day, you scrambled every hole and only got 3 pars. So there are really two different ways to use it. Stat wise, and talking to your buddy about a great par save. Hope that makes sense.
'Niced' is not a disc golf term. It is a pathetic exclamation (whine) used by idiots during disc golf play, usually from someone whose sure ace has been unexpectedly and tragically interfered with by a tree. I'd stick to terms that have to do with actual components of the game as opposed to fictional phantasms that have no relationship to real physics of flight. A separate video on the subject of the psychology of disc golfers might serve to illustrate this point. Thanks for your consideration. Cheers, D.
