This is a Godsend thank you! I've just started revising poetry and seriously don't know where/how to start, so thank you!
Will you being doing this for other poems too?
Yes, I will.
Thank you so much for this playlist - my only regret is that I'd wish I'd found it a week earlier. I love the deep analysis and I hope future generations of GCSE students find these masterpieces earlier on in their poetry revision :)
I have just found this 6 minutes before my GCSE exam
wallahi sir ur acc the best english teacher in the world,, i dont know if paper 1 went well but im trying to improve my grade with this and poetry #MrSallesForPrimeMinister
You're an actual godsend, you finally helped me hit my target of a 9, went up by 3 grades, thank you so much, can finally get to the sixth form of my dreams, though i won't lie, i'm dropping English
Well done!
Whose here a hour before the exam
It’s over I’m cooked
We’re not cooked, we’re burnt 😭
thanks a lot for making this video. Might I add just 1 more thing:for the last one, both Colossus and Ozymandias were succumbed by nature showing that power of nature is greater than the power of man
Nice one!
Thank you so much it helped me a lot,we looked at this in class and my teacher analysed it in a completely new perspective, the perspective of nature and how nature outdone the power that had once been held by ozymandias and now in ruins.
You are literally the reason for me to go from a high 3 to a low 5.
I can only thank you for your help.
That's brilliant. If you are serious about your revision you can improve to a grade 6 too.
thank you for all your amazing videos!!
I didn't know about it being related to napoleon and the duke of wellington - we did about it being related to rameses III at school but this is a better interpretation in my opinion and now I can go an impress my english teacher (and the examiner) with it!
these videos have also saved my life for revision because my school has set so much year 11 english easter revision homework and now I still have time to revise my other subjects too which is good!!!
Can you do this for all the poems ASAP please??
I will definitely do a few at least. Glad you like it.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish It's very good
This was so helpful thanks sir!
The way you analyse the poem in a completely different perspective is very interesting.
Thanks again (:
The only way I'm gonna get a 6 or a 7 in English. Thanks! :)
Thank you. This series is going to be really useful.
Doesn't Ozymandias refer to Rameses III rather than Napolean? In addition, the "sand" also reflects Egypt in this manner
Ramesses II is Ozymandias, but Ozymandias(Ramesses II) is symbolic for Napoleon who was a prominent figure during the early 19th century
Best poetry video ive ever seen
I didnt learn half of this in school ty! I never heard of duke wellington before
Mr salles ives seen all your ozymandias poets and from the beggining quote you have made so far from what ive seen maybe 3-4 interpretations which makes it hard to move on and pick which is good and annotate the rest of the poem 😅
thank you so much I wish you were my english teacher I can finally understand language analysis now
Happy to help!
I just watched 2 of your videos related to Ozymandias and you are such a time saver. You're awesome man, keep up the good work!
You have helped me so much! I can't thank you enough
what technique would you say is in the quote ‘i met a traveller from an antique land’?? also, how could these quotes be adapted to a question about nature?
8:46 could you also say that he (the sculpture)mirrors sentiment of shelley?
Yes
This helped alot!! Can you please do poems from the *WJEC EDUQUAS* in the poem anthology. I find your videos really helpful
This was amazing can u do one on Exposure - I know this is easy but I want to know how to make my answer on exposure stand out from the rest of the candidates - if this poem is applicable to the question in the summer
Really helped thank you Mr salles soo helpful for my revision
How would you use these quotes with the fosse structure. Thanks
Going into my first gsce mock of year 11 tomorrow, hopefully i dont fail
Mr Salles, if I do 3 quotes, can I get a Grade 9? I was trying to do 5 quote in the exam but I was kind of running out of time so I did 3. Therefore, can I do 3 quotes?
As long as you analyse them with enough detail, you should be fine.
If this was a comparison, and i was comparing it to hawk roosing, what would i compare the “i met a traveller from an antique land” quote with?
actual angel thank you so much!!!
Hey Sir, I'm wondering what timings do you recommend for the paper 2 lit exam. I was planning 45 minutes for each section, but do you have any suggestions?
Do it in proportion to the number of marks
Are these the top 5 quotes we can use for any question about ozymandias
Do we need to know every bit of detail for each quote or only learn a few things per quote that you say? Thanks
Can you please write your points down
When can you get them all up?Before the easter holidays possibly?
i dont know if you will read this bit i just want to know if there is any way to make it easier to go deeper into questions and make it accurate, it doesn't have to be from your channel but i would be very nice if you had some sources.
Hi, I've made notes on all your other Ozymandias videos and they explained everything PERFECTLY! If I just use these 5 quote videos for every other poem, would that be okay? Or do I still have to make pages of notes?
I think the 5 are enough - you can't write about more in the exam
To be honest amazing but I struggled with all the info in the first quote like napoleon then Britian then milatary
How do ozymandias and London compare? And could I discuss this through the idea of nihilsm?
Who disliked this video? Amazing content
when you say "he" are you referring to shelly or the traveller
Thanks 😊 know l don’t need to forget it at all
Put the video in 1.5x speed to watch it faster
I didn't get much of the analysis of the third quote
Which part in the vid talks about structure??
So the first line could symbolise: Napoleon, King George, Ozymandias interesting
hi sir, can you please summarise what happened with Napoleon and Lord Wellington and how that links to the first line in the poem?
You’ve helped me sm thanks! - year 9
4:57
6:50
7:10
What poems can these quotes be compared to?
How many of the points for each quote do you need to write about? All of them or just one meaning/point you have mentioned for each quote?
As much as you can in 40 minutes!
@Mr Salles Teaches English how much will get me a grade 7?
@@legendgamerxz1833 around 5 quotations with good analysis will get you a grade 7 or higher.
Am I able to get grade 9 with these interpretations or is Grade 7 the limit. Great video though. Really helpful.
no, you can get grade 9
Thank you for this, Can doing this get you to a grade 9?
Yes, so long as you compare the poems and write about form and structure in a way that relates these to the meaning of the poems
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish sir when you say form and structure relating to the meaning could you say for example in the poem London that the reason why it is a regular rhyme scheme and 4 stanzas makes it seem like a child like poem and then link it to ''the chimney sweepers cry'' and how children are affected ? does this make sense or have i got it wrong
@@maarr77 Yes, that works
Why have you capitalised the "W" in "colossal Wreck"?
In the AQA handout it isn't capitalised
Wassa it is
Quick question, who cares?
Mr Salles, is it Duke of Wellington or Lord Wellington? Also, thanks for clarifying about plagiarism.
Duke of Wellington
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Wellesley,_1st_Duke_of_Wellington
What about plagiarism
I wish I bought your books before buying the cgp books
This is your GCSE and my books are cheap as chips compared to a tutor. Invest in your grade!
nice vid
do you have to use these exact quotes? i’ve made the mistake of watching all your power and conflict videos that explain every single aspect of every poem and now i don’t know what to choose.
No, you can use any quotes! Thanks for watching
Legend
Do I just copy down the words you say and make it into a paragraph for each quote? I thought it would be like the macbeth one.
lol im doing that, good luck for the exam on thursday
hi is 3 quotes a poem enough for my essay. If so, which 3 should i pick from your videos
thanks
do like 5 poems that cover the most topics and learn like 3 that should be fine
like learn ozymandias and london defo cuz you can link those to most things
I read somewhere that it was also about George III, is this correct?
Saarah Rasmesss 111
how would you link these quotations to London?
Will I be able to use these for my GCSE's in May?
Also is annotating the poems by full depth even necessary if I can remember these quotes and dig deep into the language, form and structure in them and link them to the theme and the question?
Yes you can, and no, you don’t have to make notes
Can you do this for love and relationship Poetry?
Charlie Brett no

where do we find fosse
how should i revise for language?
Practice papers! And, if you have the money, buy my guides. If you don't, watch my videos. Then do practice papers.
Mr Salles Teaches English I have the money but is it too late?
@@dosntmattr5757 Most students in the UK don't start their revision on my channel until May. So you are well ahead. Look through the comments and notice how many students have non Anglo Saxon names - students from immigrant families know the value of hard work.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish ive ordered one but what about literature, most of my anthology is blank and i got a grade 5 in my mocks what should i do? thank you
Well, I've got loads of literature videos. Mr Bruff's videos are also very good for grades 5 and 6. I'm wriring a literature guide at the minute - it will be out in April
Hi sir!
Can I send practice exam questions via a private route (like email or something else) to you for you to mark privately please?
