I appreciate that Tom does what people complain about often - he actually vets games to see if they're worth doing videos on first, or if they're just a game for Toms to enjoy in their time off. Unless he's really just super excited about it and wants to show it off, because that's the kind of guy he is. So it's always amusing to see how much work he's put into a game before the first time it pops up in the channel, and I always enjoy him admitting to it and showing that fact (like he does at the end here).
Wow, you don't pick up healing unless you actually need it? That's revolutionary in this genre...
There's a few really nice bits of detail I noticed in that regard. Stuff like _every_ pick-up appearing on the edge of the screen, colour-coded as well to show what they are; stuff like that shows it's more than just some shady business trying to flip some assets. A good sign!
@@Zappygunshot Except it still has the feel of a mobile game or a mobile game port to PC, that alone will usually be considered a red flag even as a minor one because mobile games are usually heavily influenced by microtransactions by design.
This game's art style makes me think of those fake phone game ads, except, you know, it's real.
Hiya, Tom! Your irregular gaming suggestion of the time: Saw a subversion of the survivors genre, today.
Vampire: No Survivors
Summon and upgrade monsters to stop the survivors from destroying your coffins. Its a game jam game, and ya might like it.
Love your work, bro.
It should be noted that game was made in an afternoon. More of a new grounds style thing.
sounds similar to boneraiser minions bit defending a point instead of yourself
@@End3rDJgaming Not really. In BoneRaiser, every hundred bones is basically a level up, and your minions are your weapons. In No Survivors, it's more of a resource management game. You summon hordes of free, weak slimes to weaken the heroes and gather resources when your own slimes die. Then you spend your gathered resources to summon waves of stronger monsters to secure the kill. Killing heroes permanently buffs your units or unlock other minions to summon during the run.
One neat little detail I saw was when Tom got the saw blades they started out white and as they killed zombies they had a more red color. That's pretty cool
The visuals in this kinda remind me of the old game *_Dead Nation_* but I always dig when these Survivor-types have you assembling a team.
Hey i think i remember that game
Kind of a bummer that he just stopped getting team-mates after 2. I mean, it seems that his build was pretty effective, but still... I guess more team mates would probably throw the balance all off.
That was such a fun game. Always wanted to play it coop but mostly just did solo. It seemed like a perfect couch game.
I just gotta say it’s always nice to see your comment under these videos it’s very wholesome
@@Mattym9287 Can confirm that it was great couch co-op. I loved the detail of zombies slain in different countries that got updated close to real-time.
This reminds me of those fake mobile game ads I get here
RED Shadow Maggots!
I absolutely love this game! Just need one more achievement in it. I’d love for you to play more of it here for us Tom!
Literally losing my ming wanting him to use grenade trail , finally grabs it 10 seconds before the end
The moment you mentioned people "joining your party" made me imagine this survivors style of game but with RPG character roles and skill trees, party management, RPG style items and stats... And your party is bunched up, automatically doing things as you go along your survivors gameplay loop.
I wish more people hitching their bandwagons to this new genre would innovate a bit more at least!
That 3% lifesteal didnt seem like 3%. Tom is doing thousands of damage a second, but only seemed to get about 4 health every 2 seconds. And im not even sure what the base regen rate is.
There's life steal chance and life steal % as a stat. Which still doesn't make sense cause he had 1% life steal % which should have been healing him for 17hp but who knows. Base regen was 6hp per second.
I really like the look of this zombie survivor game. I definitely like fantasy settings in games but this is a nice fresh take on the genre. Well played.
look very good in all aspects / very impresive and satisfying / probably better with some crafting and citys where can make reputation with x npc to unlock more classes or special recipes , cars with machinegun etc
They're big fans of Zombies in the Black Lotus Gang ~_^
man this game has been updated sooo much since I last looked at it, wow!
Just wanna give props to the editors of these. Cheeky cut behind the MTG cards is so good
Love watching these games Tom. One thing I would love to see, which you did on this one but don't always do, is just see the upgrade screen. Maybe just look at a couple of good upgrades. Helps me determine if I want to buy the game.
Loved this game! Thanks for sharing Tom! 😊
Hoping to see more of this
Quite exciting
In MTG and fantasy in general I love illusion magic 😁
Unfortunately I feel like 'yet another' does definitely describe it.
zombie mosquitos heresy they would most likely be vampires
Please do more of this one i love this and do more ember knight's if u can
Oh hell yeah, this game has been on my radar for a bit and I was curious to see if this was any good.
Tom should do a survivor style genre tier list at this point
If there is no DSP bonus or defense bonus go movement speed. That what i learned from these kind of games.
He keeps wanting to increase crit damage but always ignores the crab
LETS GOOOO TOM
Hey Tom 🎉
Big fan 🤌🏻 hope you’re doin great
I wish Tom would try "From Dust". Seems like thr kinds chill game he would enjoy.
Eh, I never really liked survivor games where you control multiple units. It starts getting a bit muddy in terms of dodging attacks and aiming. Like when a guy on the left really needs a shotgun in the face, but that's where your bow guy is standing, then you end up pretty much having to feed the bow guy to the target to get your shotgun close enough to be effective...
Mandatory Algorithmic Comment Because We Love Tom ❤️
Great video as always, This was a really fun one to watch.
A 20 minutes til Dawn-like game ehh? Looks like my type of game
Pretty decent version of this genre
I dont say this often or lightly, but does this look like a mobile game to any one else?
Just fyi, it seems the rain of arrows proc' on your cursor. So, you can try to aim it, when it's about to go.
Huntress looking a lot like Lara Croft they didn't even try to hide it 😂😂
That's not a minigun... a minigun fires 4000 bullets a minute. That's 67 per second. Sounds more like a low hum.
That title really wasn't lying, this seems like really boring, uninspired survivors clone.
that actually makes me kinda like it more than alot of other survivors clones that try to do the whole "i'm not like other survivors clones" thing. Like sure there are ones that do genuinely add new fun mechanics but after a while most just become boring mashups of clones. So seeing one that is just not ashamed to call itself out for being just a copy is nice.
is this an auto shooter game? looks kinda cool
Missed chance for Zom-bees joke, come on.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1326
OOO a very nice Survivorup, I do really like the idea of Recruiting Survivors to build your team and build :D
Agreed, those Zombies in Darkness are cool
Oh defiantly, the Helicopter Pilot in the Zombie Apocalyps is always the best, until they aren't
This game and Goobies seem to have the constant interruption of getting powerups when you're in the middle of doing things which I find really off-putting (I realise it's whenever you level up but it just breaks the momentum so much). At least in Peglin it offers them at the end of each level that you complete.
but the main gameplay loop is moving around to *get* to the powerups… you’re not being interrupted from doing anything that’s more important than selecting upgrades
@@putmeawayplease yeah but I think doing it like this is terrible game design. If a player is in the middle of a high-intensity task like shooting zombies or blobs or whatever then this is constantly interrupting them with pop-ups that require them to shift gears to pick an upgrade and then go back to the action. I at least would find that really disruptive and annoying because (as I said) it completely destroys the player's momentum and focus.
In Peglin they leave the upgrade choosing til the end of the level when the player has actually finished the task and can think "right, now what do I want?", and that is much better IMO.
There is no end of task with this. The only break you get is when you get to pick those upgrades. You are also comparing 2 drastically different games.
@@MrJcTTK I said it was an interruption, not an 'end of task'. It's still disruptive and distracting.
@evildrganymede so you praise peglin for waiting till the end of the round to level. Please explain how you would do that in this type of game? Where you don't get a break until you level?
Also should add that getting those pop ups that you deem distracting is actually quite exciting. Like in vampire and holocure, when the level up hits that's when you get a rush for "okay! What build am I going for"
Usually love these types of games but this one just seemed basic and uninspired. Everything besides the weapon upgrades seemed shit as they hit in such a small area to not really matter and it all seemed very easy outside the last minute of "boss rush"; even then it didnt seem hard. This ones a pass for me
FIRST BITCHES!!!
is that what you told her?
Oh wow another survirer clone why can't make there own game rather then copy and paste the same game over and over again
what a boring game
I've only watched 6 mins but Tom seems to be making the most boring build imaginable in an already uninspired game. Why would I watch this?
