Trying to wrap my head around the concept of a military base that operates like a hotel or resort where garrisoned troops complain to their superior officers about noise pollution.

Although the military is harsher than many other lines of work, the people working there are just people being paid to do a job, so it does check out that they complain about noise levels or lacking amenities, etc. And the superior officers would be the best way of letting management know what grievances people have.
most of the time it's the prisoners they torture, not their own personnel
Feels like a missed opportunity that you don’t actually do the missions just watch a bar go up, feels like a grand strategy game with only autoresolve.

I feel like missions just being a progression bar is very simplistic and a missed opportunity, would be more interesting if you are able to actually control the soldiers you train. Also the graphics look like they came from a PS2 game.
The "city" building seems decent.
All in all just glad Tom got sponsored!
The world map definitely looks dated, but otherwise the graphics look surprisingly good for the genre. Sure, there's always the Anno outlier but at least these more specialized sims tend to be on the simpler/more cartoony side.

I guess "people who want a military construction and management game" but don't have many alternatives. Looks like they tried to play it safe in order to broaden their target audience but in doing so, disregarded a potential one that could be more interested in it, i.e. someone that wants cartoony and kid friendly can move on to play two point hospital whitout much care for _what's_ being built, someone that wants a mil sim would stick around cause there's virtually no competition (aside, I think, from one prison architect clone)
I feel like the military theme played straight would either come across as depressing or propagandistic, depending on the tone. Better to play it up a little like Prison Architect does with the penal system.
@@davidmurray3542 But that's the thing, there aren't all that many people interested in the penal system, so nothing to loose by ditching fidelity for a lighter approach. Not the case with the military. For every "inmate/prison guard simulator 2013", you have a hundred mil sims. And then there's Hearts of Iron, where Germany goes brrrr.
There's a bigger (more loyal) crowd for that, specially in an untapped genre like this, than for another light hearted business simulator that could as well be an aquarium, a hospital, a supermarket or a gym and loose nothing for it except a couple of dialogue adjustments.

Tom has no idea how to build a military base. The barracks go on one side and the mess hall as far away as possible from them.
They need a d.i.e training facility that lowers your troops stats but makes a small percentage of your people happy and you hear random chuckles from your enemies. 😂
