Malco Tool is bringing back made in USA vise grips that will be made in the USA and at the original Peterson plant in DeWitt,Nebraska plant using original machinery; An employee bought the old machinery at auction when the plant closed. The new vise grips will be Malco Eagle Grips. Production is starting late 2019 or early 2020.

I was a mechanic for over 40 years and built and raced stock cars for about the same amount of time and find it hard to believe that anyone knows how to over-stress tools than I do. I've been using my new ViseGrips as cheaters on some old engines that we stripped down and if that (and the pipe we had on them) didn't kill them, the jaws are just fine.

@shaftwood You should add that this is your opinion. I have a slew of emails from people who have both old and new products and have trouble seeing differences. I also have ViseGrips that are 40 years (or close) old and placed side-by-side with new versions of the same tool are hard to tell apart.

@Ibringthetruth1 Everybody complains about not being abkle to turn it up enough on here so we do the volume at exactly 50% on all of our videos. You can turn it down on your computer and with the slider below the video.

@shaftwood You're right about the Irwin Vice Grip brand quality going so far down hill recently. I bought a brand new pair last year, and the teeth squished flat on my first use trying to clamp down on a stripped screw I needed to back out. It was extremely disappointing.

The work well for a while, but don't last, start getting loose at the joints.

You forgot to tell us that the release action is lethal! Especially if they are released by squeezing the release leaver with the lower handle in the palm of your hand like my brother did earlier today, he not happy about the 4 stitches the doctor gave him shortly afterward.

What I DON'T like about these new Irwin Vise Grips a is that they are very VERY hard to open/release after you clamp them onto something, the older style were a LOT easier to unlock with that quick release lever next to handle!! In 'my opinion' these are worthless, they just sit in my toolbox now...they look very well made but NOT user friendly...My Opinion though :)

You should check out Soft Jaws at th-cam.com/video/FHMEAgJI0q4/w-d-xo.html Turns Vice Grips into a soft gripping pliers. Both are great products.

Ive used Vise Grips for years and had a close look at the Irwin version made in Korea. Its top quality, better than ever in fact. Even bikes produced there are amazing quality. Its sad that everything seems to be moving over to Asia but you need to stop living in the past and trying to convince yourself that everything from Asia is rubbish - these days its not true. there has to be a better solution to this problem than simply poo - pooing Asain made items. Doing that will only make them try harder than ever and give them more resolution.

I bet you are a hobbyist. I snapped a Kobalt allen socket with very little tension(made in Taiwan), the steel was fused or injected steel(melted powder). I have to send back some Indian made precision screwdrivers this week, I paid $25 for 9 and they are pure junk; Steel snapped the .60mm screwdriver in shipping because the steel is so brittle.
And no manly man uses the word "rubbish", I bet you don't have the arm strength to really work the tools in question.

Yeah it's sad. I still prefer Irwin but like craftsman and many more companies are going down the toilet.
