Thank you Dutch I appreciate the kind words it really means a lot. As crazy as some people may find it, I loved those years, nothing but fun in the ring, at shows and on the road. As for Sean Waltman, I'd known Sean before he got in the business, he used to go to shows with me before he broke in then was trained by The Great Malenko as I was. We are still friends to this day. Best times EVER those pro wrestling years.
I’ve posted this before but when I was 4 Jimmy Valiant sold me a 2 by 4 for $5.He whispered”You better take care of her boy. That’s your ole lady now.” 😂
Shame this podcast seems to be slowly being shortened by the episode.... Appreciate James seems more interested in Stevies pod but don't forget the chemistry you have with Dutch please
The Boy From New York City - Someone wrote that song for him, a guy from Memphis. 😂😂😂 I haven't a clue how Dutch put that puzzle together but fk it we love ya anyway Dutch! Edit: After listening again I still don't think he got it cause after James said it was a song recorded in 1964 by a band named the ad-libs Dutch is like "yep, it fit him perfect too." LMFAO.
One thing I’ve come to learn from listening to this every week is that I’m absolutely certain that James does not follow wrestling at all. Im 4 minutes in and he doesn’t know when elimination chamber is and he think cenas retirement tour is mania to mania. No James he’s retiring in December.
You mentioned Todd Pettingill from back in the 90's but what about the other guy Sean Mooney who had a similiar role in the mid -later 80's, I always wondered what happened to him?
Jimmie's wife took me for $20 after I had already paid him, but a Polaroid of us together was already done. What was I going to do but pay twice? I was upset because I had already spent over $100$ bucks with him on tees, etc.
I would think that Cena’s booking is dependent on what his role (if any) would be in the WWE post-retirement. If he is going out and away (never ever coming back, which is rare for any wrestler), he probably should go out winning matches and then losing the big one (world Universal) but maybe winning the heavyweight title to keep the technicality that he won the most titles (for his fans). If he ever wants to come back, this would also keep that bit of doubt alive to say he never got to the very very top again and make him an instant babyface. Another idea: Cena v Flair for the REAL world’s heavyweight champion
I really think the one performer who can tell the best story with Cena is Cody Rhodes. Rhodes is much like Cena in that he's the company babyface, but he gets mixed crowds, and many people want him to turn heel. So the premise is "the testing of the baby face" which is akin to Christ in the desert in that it would be easy for Rhodes to cut corners and go heel, but sometimes it's harder to do the right thing; and this would be Rhodes wanting Cena to pass the torch to him. So he and Cena have a match or a series of matches (tipping a hat to Angle vs. Michaels). It would actually be better at this point if Cena didn't have the title. So after this, Rhodes tries to emulate Cena's US title run and loses to LA Knight (which puts Knight in the main event down the road when Rhodes eventually wins the title again). Other than this, Cena can write it accordingly. As for his last match, I think he should try to top the Undertaker's Boneyard match with a cinematic match with Randy Orton. Then, they premiere the segment on a PLE before the most dangerous match in the card in order to complete additional safety checks, or production checks, or if the crew needs to construct a new set. Anyway, 2 cents on John Cena. As for Rhodes, after his fall, he gets into a program with CM Punk for WM 42 where they feud over AEW without mentioning AEW.
Manhattan Transfer cover version of that song is the one Boogie Woogie used...Jimmy has stuff on table now like doo rag sewn by his wife Angel that doesn't have anything to do with him or wrestling I bought a UT and a mustang car doo rag off him..always nicest guy
This is one case where AEW totally unintentional got one in on WWE. If there is any one person who should be a part of Cena’s “farewell” tour, it’s Adam Copeland.
That would depend on the number of dates and locations. If Cena works enough to have a random throwaway match in Canada sure. But otherwise most every match should be put towards a main goal. Which should be building up a new star.
@ I’m not even saying another match, Copeland should never perform again. I could easily have seen a segment of Edge interrupting a Cena promo, playing it heel and boasting how he beat him for the title-and then shaking hands, showing respect and maybe even doing a five second pose together. Content of the two of them rewatching their matches and commenting. When Cena finally has his bow out moment, Edge being among those who come out to applaud.
@@MrSheckstr Edge was, arguably, Cena’s first true nemesis. Their feud was on another level compared to what Cena had done in his career up to then. I’m not even saying one more match, but if he were still with WWE, then by every means he would be a must as part of the pageantry.
My scenario would be: Have Cena win the belt somewhere and lose it in his Last Match to Oba Femi. I absolutely think you can give that Guy the Brock Lesnar Push. From this summer or fall to Wrestlemania
Lmao this ain’t his final year it’s been that since Wrestlemania 40…he hasn’t wrestled since then n is supposed to retire in April…bro said he was gonna get a whole tour before he retires but we already in janurary…bro only got like 2-3 months before Wrestlemania, that’s not a tour man he only gon wrestle like 4 times at most…🤦♂️ not mad just disappointed. He acted like he was gonna give us at least half a year or more with a retirement tour like Kobe did, problem is, u can’t have a tour if u only go to 5 cities…the reason why Kobe retirement season was so speacial cuz he showed up everyone night knowing it was gonna be his last n gave everything he had every single night. I respect John wanting to venture into his own lane, but don’t tell the fans one thing n go do the complete opposite…can’t be a final retirement year tour when u start with 2 months left
You wrote all that and still wrong.😅 This was always his last year, he even said it wasn't just WM. Even on Monday he confirmed his last match would be in December. James just got it wrong by stating it would end next year

Robert ran a wrestling store and ran a wrestling promotion in Northport, AL back in the late 90s.

He went back to being a tv news anchor...
He appeared on the NWA power shows right around 2019/20, nice throwback
The version he used was by the group Manhattan Transfer.

Rip Rogers talks about Handsome Jimmy being a big gimmick salesman that will try to sell you anything and everything he owns on his podcast too 😂
As of last night, Cena said that his last match will be in December.
1:21 James hates bananas
Hr last match is December
I used to watch WWF Mania, as presented by Todd Pettengil as a kid. I always thought he was a funny guy.

Who hates bananas?!?! 😂
I ate 2 day for something like 10 years, I got really sick of em’
I guess in the end they just drove him bananas?
John Cena last WrestleMania is this coming WrestleMania... WrestleMania 41...not next year?
James is afraid of Bananas!
James, see if you can get Todd Pettingill on for an interview on WSI...
Ha! As soon as James said ick to bananas and why, it immediately made me think of Taker and cucumbers and then 1:23
Ol Todd P, them old days when Opie and Anthony would constantly fuck with him and Scott on jocktober lol
"I got a tree on my house!"
Wouldn't he true. But you'd have people believing it.
@dkupke….. why copeland? Cena has had rivalries with dozens of top tier performers, why is Edge so much more relevant than others?
