it’s videos like this that make we want to write better world building. I often think these days “what would templin say about you/is this enough for temprin?” And it motivates me to write more
If ya want I can give ya some tips on world building that I found helpful; though please keep in mind that I'm in NO WAY an expert on this subject matter and can only give my personal experience and tips I received throughout my life to others. But if you're still interested, let me know and I'll tell ya, ok? =)
For the record, when Braavos revealed itself to the world, there was no attampt by the freehold to recapture it. It was too far north and Valyria had its own problems at that time.
An amazing episode! The world that George R. R. Martin created is so rich in history, background and realism that makes these kind of videos so good. It ranks with Lord of the Rings universe of J. R. R. Tolkien, the worlds of Star Trek (Gene Roddenberry) and Star Wars (George Lucas), and the Unbeliever series of Stephen R. Donaldson. Because of their deep richness of lore, You could do years on any one of these fantasy worlds. No one seems to be able to produce these kinds of videos better than The Templin Institute. Have you ever considered doing some of the CSP group online?
More like a parody... just like any historical connectiong that isn't connected to War of the Roses and english history in general. Because Martin never cared for those:D
Atlas suggestions: - King's Landing (Game of Thrones) - Star City (Arrow) - Central City (The Flash) - Morioh Town, Japan (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) - Ba Sing Se (Avatar: The Last Airbender) - Storybrooke (Once Upon a Time) - Raccoon City (Resident Evil) - Corinth (Power Rangers RPM) - Honnoji Academy (Kill La Kill) - Sakaar (Marvel Cinematic Univerae)
If my history lessons were like this, I think I would have listened so much more. Actually... does the Institute think they can create a channel like that? Accounts of people, places, and events from this world delivered the way you guys do? I mean the April Fools video of this year proved that you guys can.
The Templar Institute. Please do a Halo video on how much damage the (Halcyon Class )Pillar of Autumn took, in her service for the UNSC before going down on installation 04.
When the blu-ray and digital release for ALITA is announced, can you feature Zalem and Iron City please? I hope you enjoyed Alita and see the interest in framing the sociopolitical landscape of the cyberpunk world it’s set in
Jo can you guys do an episode on Swtor? (Start Wars the Old Republic) It's a rly cool topic and there are awesome cinematics you can find here on youtube
Braavos is really similar to Venice, for example the Arsenal of Braavos, which has the same function as the real life Venetian Arsenal. Both sit on lagoons, being its islands separated by canals. George R. R. Martin definitely took inspiration from Venice to create Braavos.
But instead of stealing a bunch of horse sculptures from Constantinople, they got bolder and stole the Colossus of Rhodes :) (also, murder death-cult.)
She could be talking about slicing bread and make it sound like a grand accomplishment of mankind
And now we have next year's April Fools video.

She does Have a Beautiful, Scholarly Voice. 🤩💘🕊️
Bravo Templin....Bravo
That took some bravado
Calling for me?
Braavosi history is just blessed
Really didn't expected something as wholesome as this from Martin
So Braavos is basically Venice, Rhodes, and Carthage combined?
I get the Venice and Rhodes part, but where does Carthage come into it?

I agree
Pretzelbomb Carthage also had a famously powerful shipyard that could House its whole fleet
Throw in an idealised America while you're at it.
I suggest, “The Golden Company.”
Yeah it needs a bit of glory after that absolutely *disgraceful* portrayal in the series!

Like killing people? the valyrians took braavos as nothing, they didn't care of it.
Do something on Lys next
I've always been fascinated at the tought of a "modern" Free City with mostly valyrian demographics
I see the water dancers twirling...
Also love the music. Same as in the Ferelden video, another great video.
TheIfifi the music is from The Sojourn by SpaceDock I believe
A Mixture Of Venice And Rhodos Nice
This was so...soothing.
This was an amazing video guys
I love this channel!

I was hoping the video would go on for longer. It's a really good narration. I did not want the story to end.
Fantastic video, really well presented and explained.
So venice?
Pretty much
That's why you have to love fiction... still is rooted in the real world.
@@hazzmati also,its pretty chilly

Venice, Carthage, Rhodes and the Republic of Rome (Death be to Kings).
I'd love to see some City of Heroes related videos. Maybe the history of Paragon or the Rogue Isles. Or any of the multitude of factions.
Quality narrations and videos. You kids are great.
Ah yes, The ultimate knowledge that is quintessential to understand Game of Thrones
United Federation of Planets would be nice.
Can you guys please do a video on the Dharma Initiative? (From it's creation by the Degroots, to it's members' genocide by the hostiles)

Braavos: Daenerys Targaryen's dream slave free city.
Euphemisms... euphemisms everywhere...
What about the Craftworlds of the Asuryani? I'm pretty sure they are prime material for a video
I wonder if and how the city comes into play again this season.
by offering the night king a "fair loan"
The Iron Bank basicly payed for the Golden Company. Their true loyalty may not be to Cersei.

For Braavos,
For Freedom!
Can you do the world of mortal engines?
With SWCC wrapped up now, a Bounty Hunters' Guild video would be super cool!
Don’t think I wouldn’t notice that Sojourn music! ;D
Love that it reminds me of Venice
Yeah.. hopefully, the templin institute will do an extinct house of GOT.. my vote is for my favorite house, House Gardener.
House Reyne of Castamere would be a good one too
with the War of the Spark set coming out, I'd like to see an Atlas episode on Ravnica (Magic: The Gathering)
Where can I find the music "Dances of Nature?" It's a beautiful piece, but I can't find anywhere to listen to it.
Rest of planetos: everything sucks, everyone’s corrupt and vile and there is no justice
Braavos:
Huh. Braavos. The bastard child of Venice and Rhodes.
Can you do an episode on the umbrella corporation from resident evil please
Im pretty shure they did
Please do Shadowrun lore :) you can start with the sixth world
Thumbs up for anyone who wants Shadowrun content
Braavos surely has a place in the future of our exploration of the world of ice and fire. When that will be, we shall have to wait and see
you guys always make some of the best videos on this kind of stuff. i would love to see more halo content personally
i hope you get to do soon a video about gilead from the handmaids tale
Basically, Venice
Good work.
Braavos sounds like it’s the “a song of Ice and Fire” version of the USA.
To me it's like a mix of Switzerland and Venice that nicked the Colossus of Rhodes
Ah yes, the US, known for never engaging in slavery and treating all religions equally
*Rhodos in the background*
So its just venice
The golden company
Can you do a video on Moon Base Alpha of Space: 1999?

What about the Kree Empire? Or Hala, the Kree homeworld?
When will the strategic homeland division be done?
Where are my elephants?
Dear Templin Institute, I said it once before, but do one on the IMC in the Titanfall series. Thank you in advance...
Think you guys could do Minas Tirith?
Braavos: Carthage/Venice.
Bit of an oddball request, but could you do the Holy Dominion from the Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson?
I would like to see a video on Alith Anar, the true king of Nagarythe on Ulthuan
Valeria : is destroy
Braavos: 🖐️😀 bye
I have yet to see a Valyrian Empire video...
Would you do the SCP Foundation?
Daeneris: I`m the biggest Mary Sue in setting!
Braavos: That would be me, kiddo.
Starcraft Untied Earth Directorate please

Still no Eve Online episode. Cmon guys i believe in you. Eve is the most badass cyberpunk spaceship universe, it literally cries for your help.
Blown up the titan and the city is broke
Caio Cândido you realize they still have a giant fleet plus thousands of sell swords for easy hire. The iron bank has enough to pay them
