    I think a good way to describe OLED is like having a subwoofer. The low detail is so much clearer with something that can reach down there, and that applies for brightness as well

    • @dacel88
      @dacel88 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been staying off oleds because they say you lose alot of details in the dark. wich would be bad for Tarkov - have i been misinformed or?

    • @Looooordi
      @Looooordi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dacel88 I play Tarkov a lot on my C1 oled TV, but I also play it at my work with an ips gaming monitor. I don't really notice a difference in how well I can see the dark areas. Tarkov is so dark that I have to increase the gamma from Nvidia control panel for both of the displays. I think that oled looks similar to VA panels in Tarkov, so it just has more contrast between dark and light areas

    the flex is definitely just a party trick or for testing what you want in a shop because you will just find your favourite curvature and then leave it there

    • @marcogenovesi8570
      @marcogenovesi8570 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      it's mostly to ramp up production of bendable displays in general

    • @torfinnjohnsrud793
      @torfinnjohnsrud793 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Yea, the only use case I can think of are if you wanted to get curvature for immersion in media, and then flat for graphics design/other productivity related needs

    • @S41t4r4
      @S41t4r4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't really that good for trying out curvatures. It can be basically any radius in between but you basically have to eyeball it.

    • @grievesy83
      @grievesy83 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I would 100% change the curve: tighter for combat flight sim, more open for RPGs. I just need to fabricate a bracket to get it on my gas strut monitor arm, which shouldn’t be difficult. There are use cases for it, though I accept you’re probably correct for the majority. But even if you are correct, it’s still a good feature because the one model caters to all curve preferences. It means they don’t have to tool the manufacturing line for flat, 1800R, 1500R, etc. models. If you like the panel specs for the Alienware DW(insert rest of model numbers here) but not the curve, then you have to buy a different monitor. For that reason alone, it’s brilliant.

    • @bartolomeothesatyr
      @bartolomeothesatyr ปีที่แล้ว +15

      The real party trick is being able to dial in exactly what your favourite curvature is, rather than having to adapt to whatever fixed curvature the manufacturer set it at. Personally, I generally prefer flat panels because I'm bothered by the geometric perspective distortion curved panels introduce when my eyeballs aren't in exactly the right position, but I suspect that problem could be mitigated if I could dial in exactly the right curvature for my exact eyeballs at my exact viewing distance.

    Someone needs to get two of these and only bend the left side of the left one and the right side of the right one. I just want to see what it would look like to have two side by side with the ends bent and the middle where they meet still straight. It would be completely impractical but I just want to see what it would look like.

You might be okay with it if you had less before and can't compare it to anything else, but it is pretty dismal. Especially for $2000. For this size, I'd rather have 144 Hz at 4K. Since I'm a fan of Corsair products and I've kind of been sticking to the Corsair ecosystem this looks like a potential monitor for the future. It may not have the ability to be vesa mountable but since the main screen pedestal is housing all of the monitors components that make it function I like how all of the controls and inputs have been made easily accessible because of it. I like my current 32" monitor a lot as it has gotten me to a larger screen size I've been wanting for a while.
    But it's mainly just a 1080p monitor I got a really good deal on. Since I'm slowly refreshing my system and making it more premium than when I first built it this screen will compliment it nicely. But my goal is still a new high-end graphics card so this will be a while into the future. I'd love to be able to experience HDR as my XBox ONE S and Windows 10 supports it but my tv and monitor does not.

    I'd love for you to compare this to the Alienware QD-OLED monitors, so hear your opinion on the different approaches to OLED and compare them side by side

    Debating between this and the Alienware. Still haven’t made a decision yet and would only be using the monitor for gaming and watching movies. I currently use an ips 34inch LG

    I'm using an LG C2 42" for now until a real 4k OLED monitor comes along. I'm not really interested in the ultrawide form factor or the bending but I can definitely vouch for the benefits of OLED. Picture quality is amazing.

    The problem is this: You can get two Acer Predator XB283K 28 inch 4k UHD 144 Hz IPS Freesync/GSync capable gaming monitors for $600 dollars cheaper, or 3 of them for the same price, or two 31 inch for the same price - two 31 inch monitors is 62 inches wide. Three 28 inch monitors is 84 inches wide when placed side by side. I personally use the two 28 inch side by side for a 56 inch wide gaming screen. The Acer Predator is also VESA compatible and you can spin it to vertical upright.

    man, i might never want to throw the money at this expensive of a panel but man does it make me dream. the future looks bright, im glad panel technology is coming out of the stage o "this is still early technology" and giving us some really really good products so i'd like to thank all the early adopters for that.

    I was a skeptic about oled, until I saw one in-person. I was sold immediately, literally. I bought an LG C1. I'm still apprehensive about doing PC gaming on the C1(due to retention), but console gaming and movies on it are amazing.

    This would be my dream monitor, but it's a HUGE no go with not taking a VESA mount. I'll never go back to having a monitor stand right in the middle of my desk.

      I'm curious what the "mounting accessories" to replace the "removable legs" that are "coming soon" according to Corsair's site will be like. I think I can live with a proprietary mount arm I suppose, but like you said those big honking legs in the middle of my desk are a no-go, especially at at that price point.

    BTW if you see pixelly fonts, try turning off cleartype if you have not already done so. Cleartype is unnecessary for OLED which do not need such adjustments and actually makes it worse by smudging fonts.

    Bought a LG C1, and honestly, the best thing I've ever bought. It's just amazing. I imagine this panel is about the same.

    I had an LG CX OLED. I play MMOs almost exclusively. The TV had every bell and whistle to “prevent burn-in” but I recently had to take it back after only a year and half of use because my hotbar was burned onto the screen. I wouldn’t say you don’t have to worry about burn-in with OLED screens.

    Considering the 42 LG C2 is $799 now, the premium for the bendable screen is huge.

    I have a samsung CRG9 and this corrected all of the shortcomings of that monitor aka light bleed and fixed curve, don't get me wrong CRG9 is a amazing monitor but this is truly next level. The only drawback is the lack of VESA mount.

    Isnt it that OLEDs have a PROBLEM showing enemys in Dark Areas of the picture because they cant display dark grey so good ?
    Therefore most oleds have the "black stabilizer" function that lifts all dark areas a little brighter for competitive gaming.
    Also the maximum brightness of OLEDs is 40-50% less than LCD with backlight.
