Hello Srajan. I need your guidance regarding the BITS Counseling of my son. He got a score of 315 in BITSAT and has been allotted MSc Economics at Pilani Campus. In preference order, above that, we had filled CS at all three campuses, ECE and EEE at Pilani Campus. We are facing a dilemma whether we should freeze or float the current allotment. If we freeze, then we hope that he may get CS or at least ECE at the end of the first year if he maintains his CG above the requisite CG. On the other hand, if we opt for float then there is a very very slight chance that he may get EEE after further iterations which would mean he cannot get MSc and hence not CS. Our analogy while filling the preference order was that EEE (and ECE) are the second most preferred branches after CS and are also fairly good branches after CS, so we placed them above MSc Eco. But we weren't (and still are not) able to weigh the pros and cons of EEE compared to MSc Eco. His interest lies in pursuing CS but he says that he can do programming and coding alongside EEE coursework. What is your suggestion to him? Comparing EEE v/s MSc Eco with CS on the basis of course load, the flexibility of pursuing Masters in CS abroad after BE, placement stats of tech companies, demand in the market and future prospects, what would be a better choice in your opinion, and hence if or not we should freeze MSc Economics?

Bhaiya will the Bitsat cutoffs really decrease after second iteration? Last year the cutoffs fell in the 5th and 6th iteration, can we expect the same this time? I am extremely worried about this as this time 6th iteration will be conducted on 13th october, when the Jossa counselling won't even have begun. last year bits and Jossa were conducted side by side. Isn't it a bit irresponsible for BITS to conduct counselling before jossa? also does this mean that cutoffs will rise? IMO it's much easier to get it after the first year as a dual. Scoring 370+ in BITSAT is no joke, and it depends on how you perform on one given day. If you fall sick or something, nothing you can do. But in college is more about being consistent and regular. You can check the "how to get 9+ CG" video on this channel to get an idea.

Cutoffs are unpredictable, but choose your MSc by interest. Yes MSc Eco can give you 1-2 companies during placements or PS but overall it is not enough to justify taking Eco over other branches that you are interested in.

I think the thing is ki Oct 25 tk bits ki refund policy hai..so if a lot ppl withdraw their seats, u may get one as bits cannot afford to leave even a single seat empty. But there is little to no hope. Look out for further rounds, if u get waitlisted, the chance of ur admission may increase. Although it's hard to get admission into bits with a score less than 240 (as of now). Best wishes!

Qualification wise, BITS MSc is same as any other Masters, let's say from IISER. Course wise, BSC < BITS MSc < IISER Masters (this is because standalone BITS MSc is 4 years, as compared to 5 year courses at IISER etc.)
Ask this on BITSAT Queries on Facebook, you'll get varied opinions. The closest minor to CS minor is the Data Science minor. You can anyway do courses of CS as open electives too.
Hello Sir I have a query related to the sliding and freeze option I have been given a seat in EEE BITS Goa at 331 marks and i guess by the upcoming iterations i might get EEE or may be ECE which i prefer so does sliding option means i might get a seat in one of those branches if the cutoffs goes below 321 for any one of them or it doesn't?? Did you take a physics dual because you were interested in physics ? I was alloted msc physics at goa at 282. Would you recommend it to someone who isnt super interested in physics ? Is it very abstract ?
If u r taking a dual just to enter in bits, it's advisable to take chem/bio duals (as they are comparatively easy) in main campus or take eco in hyd. If u r really interested in phy then yeah! Go for it!
Yes I did take physics because I was interested in it. But college physics is very different from +2 physics, so people who like +2 physics sometimes don't like college physics, and I am also good friends with a person who was scared of +2 physics, but loved college physics so much that he is currently pursuing a PhD in physics now.

Nothing can be predicted at the moment. But yes if seats are empty I think BITS will take appropriate measures to fill them up.

yes ! a friend of mine was attending classes at hyd eee and he got upgraded to pilani e&i in the 6th iteration

As of now, no reason is being asked for. Last year around November they started to ask for reasons and all. Not sure how rigorously that was followed.

Don’t go with it if your not interested. It will affect ur CGPA in a negative way!
