Brandon, you had me nervous weighing in your Knobbed Porgy. I caught the current Knobbed Porgy record fish in 2020 and just checked to see if I am still in the AL Marine Info Calendar. Great fish by any measure. Don't remember or not, but you took my wife and I on a charter a couple yrs ago and we got 2 keeper Cobias off the container ships. One was almost 50 lbs. We just moved to Gulf Shores and hope to see you out on the water. Tight lines!
I love it when you fish with your buddies 😂 makes me miss having friends around. I just moved to Robertsdale and have yet to make any new ones. It's not as easy when your older😢
We need a class on identifying the 3 jacks we catch on the Alabama gulf coast. You always call it quick and I have to look at pictures and count dorsal fins.
What an awesome video! Great time with friends, catching different species, and having some delicious fresh raw fish to end the day! Doesn’t get any better than that , just subbed 👏🙌
Amazing catches Brandon! I'd def mount that fish too. The Moray Eel was quite the surprise! Lol I sure do miss the sunrises along the Gulf Coast, takes your breath away.
Thanks! I think it’ll make a pretty mount all lit up blue and yellow like it was when it first came out of the water. And your right, these winter time sunsets/sunrises are something else
@@CaptCollierthose white snapper/Pink porgeys are pretty good eatin I fish out of Biloxi and we catch them in the same spots we catch beeliners and occasional blue line tile fish
@@Brentmoran-wf9gn oh yea definitely. We do catch those fairly often and they are great eating. Just not that knobbed porgy that I caught. Those arnt so common
That's a trip you posted that porgy. I am down in Keywest for my annual get together with my war buddies and I took 1/2 dozen of us off they beach fishing around some wrecks and we caught couple dozen joltheads. Was worried they might be reds which is closed. Took me a bit to picture match. They make the best ceviche!
We had the same situation out of Destin where something was breaking us off in the rocks. We thought big grouper. Finally we got it out of the rocks and it was an eel too. He was wrapping around the rocks and we could not pull him loose.
Great video. Really enjoy the underwater footage. Quick question. I thought it was illegal to filet or clean any fish until you reach land? Is that just fish that are being regulated by size or #’s. Thanks in advance.
If you have ice to spare you can throw those eels in your 5 gal bucket with some and render him motionless while you get your hook out. S&W 500 works too.
If that is the case my mom caught the state record years ago and we just didn't think about it cause I remember she caught 1 on a private spot in about 100ft of water off Dauphin Island along bigger than the 1 you caught not trying to belittle the one you caught it just reminded me of that epic day of bottom fishing
That’d be nice. Unfortunately a lot of these overpopulated sharks are sandbars, Dusky’s , or reef sharks that are prohibited to harvest. Every now and then it’ll be bull sharks but who wants to put a 300+lbs shark on the boat while they finish their fishing trip lol
Yes I do! That is one of the reasons I went with Simrad electronics on the BJ because they will accept and read the CMOR mapping chip. The image is very clear and accurate
@@CaptCollier I always ran merc but never the v8s. I’m hoping to get me a new boat this year with a 200 pro xs. I’ve heard they had trouble. But never really had someone other than one guy tell me that.
Probably want to gut and rinse the fish out before cleaning it for sushi. Running the knife through the guts and meat is not a good idea if you're eat ng it raw.
Step up on your line size and you will stop breaking them off. We use One Hundred and Twenty five and one hundred twenty five leaders when we are after the big boys. Fort Pierce.

Lets Go! Im all about STRANGE!
That was a very entertaining video Brandon. You are certainly a great fisherman.
I appreciate that!
Wow, what an extraordinary fish catch, Boss Qu, very exciting fishing, friend...👍
Thanks for watching

Great video! Have you ever made ceviche when you are out on the water? You should give it a try.
Great fishin video, thank you for posting, I really enjoyed watching it:)
Glad you enjoyed it
Pretty cool. You could tell from the Porgie Cam on the way down it was passing up nice fish higher in the column .

Happy New Year. What a way to end 2023. Good fishing, good friends and good food.
For sure 👍🏻

That’s awesome! And yes, it seems like any species of the porgy family is very tasty!

Tried to get moray unhooked....chickened out and released with the hook. Hope he made it.
I did get the hook removed.
That’s crazy lol
Love watching all your videos! Nice catches!
Glad you like them!

"It's a decent one I guess" 😂 Great video Capt
Thanks 😅

Great job as always .Happy new year.
Thanks!
awesome video man! love the exotics. did you see the Yellowtail snapper mixed in with the Bliners around the 14 min mark?
I did now! 😅
Awesome underwater footage! I see why y’all like to jig. Way too many tiny beeliners out there!
Yep! Either jigging or dripping big baits down is the only way to go to get past them piranhas it seems like 😅
That was a great trip, I can’t believe out of all those fish that porgy came up and bit it 😂 dope catch brotha!
I know right? Lol crazy. Good trip for sure 👍🏻
Love the underwater footage.
Me too. Always cool to see what’s down there with a different POV

Great video!!
damn good vid, that is good times.good job guys...staysafe..
Awesome variety of species…that’s it, I’m moving to the Gulf Coast!
Haha you won’t be disappointed
Nice day guys
For sure! 🤙🏻
It’s nice of you to not go full throttle from the start. Give your guests the impression they have a chance. ;-)
😂 that’s what I tell myself anyways. It’s all fun and games
Great day! No doubt a record before you bled him.
Maybe so, one of these days I’ll get another record in the books
Good vid. bro
Can you eat Moray Eels? Awesome video, always interesting to see what comes up from the depths.
I’m sure you can, but I wasn’t sure what the regulations for them were and really didn’t want that thing on the boat to start with 😅
@@CaptCollier
🤣Definitely fair!
Sand tiles are great eating.
Several moray eels and I never had the nerve to remove the hook.
It was sketchy for sure Lol
It’s my belief that all fishermen should harvest a shark everyday they go fishing for a little while and do their part to stop feeding them bastards.
Great video brother! Tight lines!!!!
Raw jack? Id be worried about parasites, i have cut open a few full of tape worms.
The big triggers are what we call "hubcaps".
Haha havnt heard that one.
The ol Merc is holding, I know
Oh yea, she’s running like a champ
Do you like the see more maps better then the garmin relief shading?
Yes I do! That is one of the reasons I went with Simrad electronics on the BJ because they will accept and read the CMOR mapping chip. The image is very clear and accurate
That’s kinda been my complaint with garmin is it’s not very clear and you miss a lot of the less visible hard bottom because of it
Put some 150 pound leader on and catch that thing 😅
What do you mean by B-liners
That’s what we call vermillion snapper
Merc giving any problems?
No sir! Running like a charm
@@CaptCollier I always ran merc but never the v8s. I’m hoping to get me a new boat this year with a 200 pro xs. I’ve heard they had trouble. But never really had someone other than one guy tell me that.
There not poisonous. Morays over here on Kauai they eat them
What taxidermist do you take your fish to ?
Southern Trophy Taxidermy is where ive taken my last 3 fish skin mounts. He does a great job
Thank You for the information !!! I've got my 3rd place lunker from 2022 in the freezer lol.... been looking for a good fish taxidermist for awhile
Really been looking for a good skin mount taxidermist
