We people are always in comparing mode. What Seerkazhi sang was a cinema song. Sid has taken the lyrics from that and sang in carnatic and his carnatic rendition of the song is no way lesser. People who criticize will be above 60 and they will not come out from their shell of praising only old singers. Bravo Sid Sriram.

The paradox of listening, if you’ve listened to the original score say hundreds of times, it would have been ingrained in you perpetually, and it’s difficult to accept any other version; having said that, the singer attempt to blend the song into his forte of pure Carnatic the feel is entirely different, and it’s doesn’t mean that he has done injustice to the original version, he has dished out version 2.0...and it's a heartfelt and a solemn rendition without ridiculing the original! Don't disregard it in toto!
I fully agree. Sid has sung this song in his inimitable style. The demand from young audience in his concerts for this song and the song " Inru Poi Naalai Varai" is phenomenal. Every singers has his own style and that is why we attend concerts of so many singers.

We people are always in comparing mode. What Seerkazhi sang was a cinema song. Sid has taken the lyrics from that and sang in carnatic and his carnatic rendition of the song is no way lesser. People who criticize will be above 60 and they will not come out from their shell of praising only old singers. Bravo Sid Sriram.

The paradox of listening, if you’ve listened to the original score say hundreds of times, it would have been ingrained in you perpetually, and it’s difficult to accept any other version; having said that, the singer attempt to blend the song into his forte of pure Carnatic the feel is entirely different, and it’s doesn’t mean that he has done injustice to the original version, he has dished out version 2.0...and it's a heartfelt and a solemn rendition without ridiculing the original!
