I mean I loooove to hip fire my slug shotgun which is why I choose Iron Reach over open shot. Open shot is useless to me since I really am down sight with it. Hip-fire grip/Iron Reach is awesome.
In defense of voltshot, its power is dependent on weapon damage. Gunnora has the strongest voltshot of literally every gun in the game so far. You feel it in the game. It reloads fast and has good reserves, too. SSS tier pve gun.
@@DoctorSharkie Deploy jolt with Gunnora, then keep it with a grenade or something, so you don't need to waste a lfr shot on a red bar. The jolt damage multiplier of shotgun is higher than lfr too.
@@DoctorSharkie each weapon type has a specific “voltshot multiplier” that determines how much damage the jolt does. It doesn’t have anything to do with the actual weapon damage. Shotguns have one of the highest
You forgot one other outlier to the "High handling, low aim assist" or "High aim assist, low handling" mold besides Heritage - the Fortissimo-11, the slug shotgun from Vanguard Ops. It has 56 Handling and 57 Aim Assist at base.
I recently got one with Surplus and Iron Reach. It hits 100 range while still keeping pretty good stats and it's the smoothest and most enjoyable Slug Shotgun I own
As soon as I matched you yesterday and saw you running this shotgun I knew the video was coming soon! I only made it into the kill feed on worm haven at 6:25 though. Love the content!
ill likely be keeping two of this, voltshot on a slug is very interesting since jolt damage increases as the source damage increases. sojourners tale is my preferred in pvp, but statistically this is just better with origin traits. also hipfire grip on slugs with the new reticle is spicy, and it can get 90 handling without surplus or threat which is honestly good enough.
Nice to reaffirm how I was feeling using my Sojourner's Tale this week. I got 79 range, handling MW, and opening shot and was feeling pretty good in CQC situations. Gonna keep my eyes peeled for a good Gunnora's while playing IB!
That’s a good point. Having something for a limited time that can take the role of something else you might not have gotten is a good way to manage limited time loot and make it worth folks while.
>go out of your way to overcap Range with Opening Shot >Iron Reach is a "novelty" so ignore it >can easily cap Range with Iron Reach Sometimes you don't make a ton of sense. Making a declaration about how important it is to have high range for those times Opening Shot is down, then telling people to avoid the one perk that caps out Range almost by itself is weird. Perhaps make it clear you pick Opening Shot for the extra accuracy on top of the range rather than singing praises of the range bump to then discount a perk that lets you reach even further.
First roll of this gun i got was hammer forged, accurized, iron reach, surplus with a range masterwork. 100 range and i have been really pleased with this gun
Voltshot damage scales with the damage archetype of the weapon in PVE(That's why Pitchglass hits so hard with it). I would Definitely try this roll in PVE for Higher DPS
hey reminder for everyone that might be looking here: Bonechiller is a void slug from europa that is the high AA type, but can roll [fluted | accurized | surplus | opening shot | range mw] and hits all the caps with full surplus. Works well on strand hunter rn
I wish you explained why Iron Reach is a "novelty" instead of Opening. Considering it's a slug shotgun, the accuracy bonus isn't as needed as a pellet shotgun, and it retaining that range through an entire engagement instead of just on the first shot is worth it in my opinion.
@@TheRamenRider Not as helpful as you might think, even for a Slug. A shotgunner's playstyle is inherently less susceptible to being flinched. There's also the Unflinching Shotgun mod which only costs 2 energy to slot, and using that mod is going to do more for you than 20 more points of Stability would. Plus, if you're going Iron Reach you can pick up different barrels/mags/first perks that offset the loss in Stability such as Smallbore/Corkscrew/Polygonal (the first two also give you more range), Surplus, etc. There's more than one way to skin this cat. I suspect the real reason CG says to "skip Iron Reach" is that Opening Shot has bonus accuracy, which just isn't as useful on slugs because you're already holding that shot until it's critical to begin with.
I’m happy to hear you bring I’m the hip fire argument. I’ve gotten a lot of flak from my clan mates about my FiLo with hip fire and OS. I loved it but fell out of favor when energy primaries took over.
Luckily I have god rolled FILO for both PvE and PvP because the drop rates of Iron Banner gear in Iron Banner are sooooooo low. They should rename the event 'Blowout - the rocket launcher'.
I am honestly surprised how all the content creators do not like the new IB mode. I think it's way better than rift. Eruption was by far the best but I do not mind fortress. I think the reason why the creators don't like it is because it's 100% objective based and running around aping and "top fragging" doesn't mean much. 'oh no I have to play the objective, this game mode sucks' is what it boils down to.
I think the issue with the game mode is that it's in Iron Banner. I adore the fuck out of this game mode, but I think it'd be better suited for competitive than Iron Banner, especially after Eruption came around. Eruption gave me the feeling that Iron Banner was supposed to be more of a party mode than a serious one, and Fortress flipped that idea that it gave me from last season. I'd love to see Fortress in competitive, the issue really is that it's such a far cry from what we had just last season.
if youre running a build that actually implements jolt into the build, voltshot will actually edge out vorpal, but vorpal of course will be easier to use in case you dont have a good loop to keep jolt up for the entire phase since its always on.
As much as I like threat detector, I got a Corckscrew / Accurized / Hip fire grip / OS w/ range MW roll and it feels amazing. You can pretty easily max out or nearly max out the handling anyway with quick charge and use QAS or just run a handling exotic, the gun feels snappy anyway. Hip fire grip gets you some kills you wouldn't normally get and is a perk I have grown to appreciate more over the past year or so, it's really underrated imo.
I have almost that exact roll, except a handling masterwork. Have yet to try it out, as I got it from focusing engrams after a couple hours of iron banana grinding last night xD
I'm kinda baffled by this seasons IB weapons. You have Gunnora's Axe which has so much going for it; in PvE it's the direct replacement for First In, Last Out and for PvP if you don't have an Inquisitor, this is a solid substitute. Then you have Dark Decider which loses in everything whether it be stats or other offerings. Polar opposite design philosophies.
As soon as I saw the archetype for dark decider, I low-key felt that volt shot wasn't even going to save it for me. Don't really feel like using it in PvP and I haven't used it in PVE yet so I don't know how good it is there
So interesting tidbit. Voltshot works with no back up plans other passive effect where shotgun kills grant melee energy. So this legit might give no back ups a leg to stand on? That fix to void shields was a huge help, and I was doing some mild messing around with it once I had the realization and I'm gonna need to figure out how to make the concept flow and how to keep up the ammo. But I feel like you need a really unique roll for it aswell. Like you want a smaller mag, higher reload... I'm legit excited to maybe do something with no back up plans.
I got a fluted/flaired magwell/moving target/Voltshot - PvE Fluted/Accurized/Surplus/Opening shot -PvP (want same but with moving target). But pretty happy with it, did not have a good energy shotgun to pair with all the good primary pulses.
Inquisitor rolls have been kind to me. Demo+Swash on one, but a 93 base range roll with Fragile Focus and PerpMo - will really reach out and touch someone.
I got a surplus/iron reach (100 range) and moving target/opening shot (82 range) rolls to play around with. I focused a few of my engrams but the others didn't come close to either of those rolls. I'm hoping to grind more to get a hip fire grip/opening shot roll. I don't use shotguns very often (prefer fusions/GLs over shotguns) but was having a blast using both rolls, hitting shots I didn't think were possible. I have a swash/demo (range MW) inquisitor, hipfire/OS FILO as well and they perform about the same. But gunnoras feels better. Could be placebo effect since they're all basically the same shotgun, but something that could be note worthy. To me, even though the Surplus/iron reach roll had max range, the MT/OS roll felt better. I do know I like slugs over pellet (mostly because I remember felwinters being dominate.. And I refuse to use it), but I also haven't tried a good pellet since the recent changes. But again, I'm a novice shotgunner.. So what do I know?
My best so far is Flueted/Acurized/Surplus/Iron Reach. It feels great with my HOIL Titan. I still have my sunset Threat/Opening Axe in the vault that will hold me over until I get that roll again
My Filo is auto/vorpal hehe. Sojo has Fullbore/polygonal, Accurized, QuickDraw, opening, and handling MW. I can stack it to have 74 range 73 handling. Or use Fullbore and cap out on range, reduce handling but have QuickDraw in my pocket.
I used to pop heads like crazy with this shotgun even though it only had 34 AA and I'm kind of bad at CQC. No other slug shotgun felt this good, not even the ones with 60+ AA.
I've been waiting for my Cool Guy reviews to start dropping and I'm glad to see it! Thanks for your thoughts and opinions sir, and Happy New Year! I'm personally looking for a Hip Fire/OS. I put hip fire on my heritage and its amazing
You only need 75 handling if you use the Quick Charge mod (adds +25), so you can easily hit max range on pretty much any slug Suros Synergy also adds +40 handling if you don't already have quick charge
I appreciete these stats and as always these videos are crucial learning tools for me but overall the current collection of Iron Banner guns are the dullest line up of weapons I can remember since the first "xanax-remix" of the moon guns. I would have thrown in a hot pulse or any handcannon except a 180. A caster frame sword. Or give the 720 freakish range. Any one of those things would get me grinding a lot harder than I am. When I look at Saladin's lineup I just see that old helmet that I used to love and that's it.
Though ive never used it, Ive got a Range MW, Fullbore, Assault mag, auto loading, vorpal First In, Last Out in my vault. Might need to take it out for a spin next Nightfall.
I couldn't get an opening shot roll to save my life man. I did get one with poly, accurized, hip fire grip and iron reach with a stability masterwork though. I put the freehand grip on it and it kind of seems to let me smack people at longer ranges than I probably should be able to when firing from the hip. It just seems a little more accessible for me than slugs historically have been. Generally I'm terrible with slugs. 😅
I just got smallbore, accurized, surplus, opening shot with a range mw. It is absolutely disgusting and i love it especially because i can run immortal in the kinetic and this in the energy. I've been collecting faces with this thing today and i couldn't be happier.
I managed to get two rolls that I think are pretty good in my opinion The first one is Corkscrew Rifling or Smallbore, Accurized Rounds or Appended Mag, Surplus, Iron Reach with a Handling Masterwork. 100 Range with Smallbore and Accurized and 75 Handling when Masterwork. I think this is an okay PvP roll, not the best, but not to worst in my opinion. The second one is Arrowhead Brake or Extended Barrel, Extended Mag or Flared Magwell, Threat Detector, Voltshot with a Range Masterwork. This one is more PvE than PvP and I think I'm gonna try it just for fun.
TBH, I haven’t used shotguns for like a year until this season. I’ve been enjoying pellet shottys, but last night I pulled a sojourners from the vault and had a ton of fun. I have a few adept inquisitors but nothing really too great. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for a good gunnoras!
I can't agree more. Curious if you are gonna do a video on the Lodbrok? I used it all day yesterday and am obsessed with it. I keep switching between Cascade point, target lock, and kill clip. Do you have a favorite combination so far?
Haha ya when I saw him rocking lodbrok I was hoping he would mention it. I've been ripping with kill clip but I think there are a bunch of good rolls and it actually does really well in this sandbox. Idk ttk numbers or whatever (why I watch videos like coolguys) but the playstyle of locking down a corner so they can't repeak, beaming someone down across the map, hakke to break barriers. Halfdan was my fave gun and when this came back I knew it would be good. 10/10 gun for me.
@@Trevoroxx absolutely. I have a perpetual motion/kill clip roll and it just felt as good as any auto rifle I've used. The sight is very nice and the ability to melt barricades is beyond helpful. Oh and the 100 range makes it even more fun to use
This slug shotgun is the entire reason I've been grinding iron banner this time around. I knew it was gonna be cracked when I looked it up on light gg after the season started. Finally last night I got basically a 5/5 god roll imo Corkscrew Rifling Accurized Rounds Hipfire Grip Opening Shot Handling MW Sits at 85 range and 80 handling
My baby is back. Got small bore, tactical mag, hip fire grip, opening shot, range masterwork. I didn’t think it was possible but it feels better than my old gunnora’s. I’m in love all over again. Don’t sleep on hip fire. It should be illegal on this thing
I love hipfire Voltshot, mostly for PvE damage against higher problem targets like champions. Plus, with the new champ interactions coming with lightfall, Voltshot will naturally deal with overloads. Love this shotgun, 10/10 would grind iron banner again for it
i somehow got hipfire with OS accurized arrowhead and a range MW and it was exactly what I wanted it to be and more! I deleted my previous roll and I dont plan on looking back!
Voltshoit works intrestingly on slug as all weapon types have diffrent multipliers the highest multipier beingo na rockets with volt shot. and slugs either beign 2nd or third. im nto gona sleep on volt autoloading for dps tbh
You can use it for voltshot in PvE but anyone saying it’s a FILO replacement for DPS or shotgun swapping is coping, it doesn’t have Assault Mag for some reason lmao
I have a god rolled FILO so I’m going for surplus or threat detector/Voltshot Voltshot on the auto and shotgun is the only reason to play IB for PvE mains this season.
IB has been so much fun this season. I honestly haven’t had this much fun in IB in a long time. Almost 3 resets for me. Iron Lord done and gilded. I’m average at best. I played a lot. I had fun, I didn’t complain 👍🏼
Man i love all about slugs especially Suros ones hitting HS is like putting last nail in someone's coffin ;) long time ago ive got FiLo Auto/Vorpal for pve and SShoot/OShoot for pvp also my first GAxe with QD/OShoot (80 range) pre nerf was work of art literary sniper :) between these two i have 10k kills in pvp alone , but this iteration of GAxe is LOADED im aiming for Fluted/Handling MW/AccR/Surplus/OShoot to cap out on range and handling. In kinetic slot i prefer Fortissimo-11 over Blasphemer since its has much cleaner barrel which helps when aiming for these deep OHK. Good luck with farming!
All i have is a smalllbore, accurized rounds, auto load Iron Reach one. With Smallbore and Iron Reach, I do hit 100 base range. Opening shot probably is better, but I've gotten zero luck getting one to drop.
I want to love the Axe but god damn I got a thing for everything this shotty can do. A Forth Time's/ Vorpal Fortissimo that actually shreds like a monster. And a Hipfire / Opening shot Last out, that's actually kind of disgusting - the new reticle man, I can't miss that bean.
This is a weapon I would sort into the pile of recent reboots and newer IB weapons of, "yes bungie this does make sense to make it more sought after". It's very solid and I just wish there was better consistency with the quality of other stuff dropping.
Got one with fluted, accurized, hipfire grip, and iron reach (handling mw). 97 range and 90 handling. Honestly was bummed without opening shot but it still feels great to use regardless and now I might stop farming for it now.
Fortissimo-11. Anyone who grinds or has grinded Vanguard levels can have it drop with multiple perks. It's a kinetic, sure. Great base stats, great perks. No auto-loading for PvE, but it does have fourth time's the charm, and stuff like focused fury for DPS. I do PvE, and I got one with fourth time and subsistence - boss and ad clear, respectively. Focused fury (boss) and osmosis if I want to match elements. Even came with Appended Mag, so 6 shots for 4th time, and accurized and hammerforged if I want to range. Killer. Worth farming some strikes and rolling the dice.
Idk what’s going on with my shotguns. I have been having 90% of point blank dead on shot doing zero damage. Idk if it’s lag or wth is going on but I can barely use them anymore. I have just returned to PvP after a few years and a lot has changed with shotguns hand cannons and scout rifles. I don’t remember multi-tool taking 5-6 shots to kill. Maybe my aim is horrible now or idk…
Thank you for watching and spending your day with me. Nothing wrong with this thing. It's great in a lot of ways.

I dont think im ever gonna find an energy slug that beats out my sojourners
I just got smallbore, accurized, surplus, opening shot with a range mw. It is absolutely disgusting and i love it especially because i can run immortal in the kinetic and this in the energy. I've been collecting faces with this thing today and i couldn't be happier.
My steady hand with slideshot and snapshot is my best iron banner weapon, it single handedly carried me through the whole of competitive Destiny 2
I managed to get two rolls that I think are pretty good in my opinion
The first one is Corkscrew Rifling or Smallbore, Accurized Rounds or Appended Mag, Surplus, Iron Reach with a Handling Masterwork.
My gunnora’s has iron reach surplus and range master work for the 100 range. Feels nice
Finally last night I got basically a 5/5 god roll imo
Corkscrew Rifling
Accurized Rounds
Hipfire Grip
Opening Shot
Handling MW
Sits at 85 range and 80 handling
Already got a autoloading vorpal roll going for that threat detector voltshot
8:57 can't remember melees one banging
My favorite shotty returns! Loved the old Gunnora's Axe. Gonna love this one.
The vender roll just changed on Friday reset to Hammer forged, accurized, surplus iron reach (already max range) then a range masterwork on top
how does iron reach feel?
@@theelit3170 it's definitely over kill on the range opening shot would have been better
It's a budget Inquisitor for those who don't have a good one or don't play Trials, if you have an Adept Inquisitor that's the best legendary slug imo
First focus, got fluted, accurized, surplus, opening shot w ranged MW 😤😳
My baby is back. Got small bore, tactical mag, hip fire grip, opening shot, range masterwork.
I didn’t think it was possible but it feels better than my old gunnora’s. I’m in love all over again.
Don’t sleep on hip fire. It should be illegal on this thing
Was waiting for this while eating my cereal.
what are we talkin here. Frosted flakes, cheerios, fruit loops?
I was about 400 kills in on the sunset axe so this gun feels a little bit snappier i haven't tried them with ophidias yet right now im very pleased.
I got extended/appended mag with auto loading and vorpal. PERFECT!
Saladin rn sells this shotgun with 100 range (Hammer-forged, Accurized/Tactical, Surplus, Iron Reach, Range MW)
I dropped small one alloy mag moving target and opening shot with a range masterwork, I'm guessing I need to give it a try.
You can use it for voltshot in PvE but anyone saying it’s a FILO replacement for DPS or shotgun swapping is coping, it doesn’t have Assault Mag for some reason lmao
I have a god rolled FILO so I’m going for surplus or threat detector/Voltshot
Voltshot on the auto and shotgun is the only reason to play IB for PvE mains this season.
Hip-Fire Grip should be illegal on slug shotguns. I got a few with Hip Fire + Opening Shot and they tear through opponents like wet paper.
IB has been so much fun this season. I honestly haven’t had this much fun in IB in a long time. Almost 3 resets for me. Iron Lord done and gilded. I’m average at best. I played a lot. I had fun, I didn’t complain 👍🏼
This is a really cool weapon, and I’m glad people are enjoying it.
Too bad I suck with all special weapons except Fusion Rifles…
I like seeing you pairing it with Lodbrok
got a 100 range axe slickdraw iron reach stability masterwork it feels great
I know threat detector is the s tier perk, but I’m chasing hipfire // opening shot. Get that combine a
All i have is a smalllbore, accurized rounds, auto load Iron Reach one. With Smallbore and Iron Reach, I do hit 100 base range. Opening shot probably is better, but I've gotten zero luck getting one to drop.
Came back to this vid as I'm burning my engrams before reset. Pulled Smallbore / Arrowhead, Accurized, Hipfire, Opening, Handling MW. Think I'm good.
Guess I'll keep the 3/5 roll in my vault: smallbore, appended mag, threat detector, opening shot, range mw
It's very solid and I just wish there was better consistency with the quality of other stuff dropping.
not to be pedantic, but gunnora is not the only arc slug with vorpal, filo is arc too
Got one with fluted, accurized, hipfire grip, and iron reach (handling mw). 97 range and 90 handling. Honestly was bummed without opening shot but it still feels great to use regardless and now I might stop farming for it now.
Great video breakdown
Im just disappointed they didn't put incandescent on the iron banner hand cannon
it’s too old (the season before incandescent was added) because bungie is big dum
@@cleanboi9136 so? Gunnora's axe is a much older weapon and it got voltshot added to it
@@Klodhvig yeah the axe got reissued the hand cannon didn’t and came out before incandescent are you dense
great double slug option especially for people without filo just missing assault mag
I have one drop with Threat/Opening, Smallbore, accurized w/ Range MW.
I already have weapons that do what it does but I’m definitely gonna go for the voltshot roll for the fact that it’s just unique
Trying to get mine now but getting the rep to unlock it seems to take longer than before. I’m even wearing all IB armor and the emblem
Voltshot Gunnora's in Heist BG's is godly, especially when you're running Arc.💯
I heard voltshot damage ticks will scale to the ammo being used.
