I totally agree with you on the Bowie RSD. I already have the naked Beatles vinyl, I want the Butcher Cover as a RSD reissue with a good quality pic of Butcher Cover.
Nice group of RSD pick ups, and the Pink Floyd 50th anniversary reissues look very cool. RSD this year was a blast, so much fun watching our hobby grow. Thanks as always for sharing, have a great week!
Wow, after a morning of watching some negative YT videos this one was such a breath of sunshine! It was so nice seeing you enthusiastic and smiling and show and telling your haul. Keep the positive vibes coming! Love ya, Melinda! -Glen
Great call on a reissue of Let It Be Naked - one of my favorite Beatles releases for sure. And on Discogs - 6,000 have it and 2,800 people want it, making it one of the most-wanted Beatles album on Discogs, even over any of the 2012 Beatles Mono pressings.
Really great pick ups! I ended up getting the Bowie record and the Ramones. Unfortunately my local store did not get very much inventory. But it was still a great RSD.
I live in Louisville, and a few months ago I went to Bowling Green for a visit and stopped by Hard Copies and picked up a Jimmy Smith Blue note. Petty cool record store.
Hey Melinda, my ladyfriend and I totally scored on RSD! She was so worried about not getting the Beatles turntable set since our appt time was set at 10:40 am and the store opened at 8 am. She got it, and Elton John's Caribou, and she was thrilled! I picked up the two Cannonball Adderley's, Yusef Lateef, David Bowie, Snarky Puppy, and Jim Croce. Im going to get Chet Baker and Nancy Sinatra in thr next day or two. I had a blast chatting with fellow vinyl lovers and mentioning to them that they should be watching your channel!❤❤Thanks again and hope all is well!😊
Oh wow! You did have an awesome day. I'm glad she got the turntable. They must have had several of them. ♥️ I hope you have been enjoying your new finds. Take care.
Great video as always Melinda! I love how you told the story how you went to Hard Copies since you were a child. It brought back great memories for me when I went to World Records in my home town of Albany, NY. They had everything! They were the nicest guys and always gave me cool rock posters for my room. Unfortunately that store is no longer around. But I always think of the great times there. Hope all is well with you and family Melinda! Keep rocking like always! 😃♥🤘🤘
It is sad to lose our record stores. 🥲 The memories are always there. The owner of Hard Copies is a good friend and I'm so glad he is successful in his new location. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
I would have been standing in line in the cold for a chance to get Let It Be Naked. "I've Got a Feeling" has moved up my list in recent years of best Beatles songs. Paul has done it on his last two American tours.
The Bowie does sound incredible. Parlaphone have been doing half speed masters from ziggy up to diamond dogs. The aladdin sane in particular sounds incredible.
Nice to hear you took your time to get to RSD and still got two releases! I admit I haven’t heard dark side to the moon, that anniversary record looks awesome. great record review, can’t believe you film this all in one take!!
Thank you very much. My husband helps me edit my videos so I try to keep things simple. I do have to edit sometimes. Lol. I highly recommend that you give Dark Side a listen. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
So glad you bought The Amboy Dukes "Journey To The Centre Of Your Mind" it is the quintessential psychedelic LP of the Swingin' 60's - crank it up and let's Do The Swirl...haha - My brother got me The Bowie Collection which is fantastic "Velvet Goldmine' is my new favorite Bowie song...what a music master he was - The Dark Side Of The Moon was pricey so I passed on it and having heard every other version I could live without it - I'm so glad you were able to participate in RSD at a record store I really miss it - thanks for a great video Melinda❤See you next week!
The Amboy Dukes album is great. The sound quality is fantastic and the guitar playing and vocals are incredible. 🔥🔥🔥 Velvet Goldmine is my favorite of the unreleased tracks as well. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
I was surprised when you mentioned that you never had Tubular Bells in your collection, up until now! I have an original copy, and also a 50th Anniversary copy that I special ordered. Tubular Bells is an absolute musical masterpiece in my opinion. You are now officially a member of the owner’s club now! I do hope you enjoy it! Regarding your comments on Record Store Day Fail, I am with you 100%. As always, your video presentation here was excellent! Your kind and caring personality always shine through, and that carries well with all of your viewers! Melinda you’re the best! 💯
Thank you so much for the kind words. ♥️🤗 Tubular Bells is usually one of the first albums people add to their collection. Lol. For some reason, that album alluded me. It was worth the wait. 🤗 Thank you and take care.
YES! Let It Be Naked would be a great choice! I would get up even earlier than I normally do for that one. I would also suggest “A Different Kind Of Truth” by Van Halen as an RSD release
I agree with you on The Beatles LET IT BE...NAKED. It is the perfect time with Disney+ about to re-release LET IT BE documentary next month. I'd also like to see a release of GET BACK (THE ROOFTOP PERFORMANCE) which The Beatles placed on streaming services last year but have not released a physical copy (yet?).
I didn't go out for RSD this time, had to work late morning and wanted to sleep in. My record store I normally go to for RSD will put left over titles online at noon the following day. I was able to snag the last copy of the Amboy Dukes album and I agree it sound great. I also have, from a preorder, the Pink Floyd DSOTM 50th.
You are the first person besides myself, who I have seen show Amboy Dukes. I always go to RSD but I’ve yet to get there early. Yes! I totally think they should have released Let It Be Naked. That vinyl for DSOTM looks extremely cool. Glad you got a nice copy of Tubular Bells. Very cool RSD recap Melinda. Thanks for the video and have a wonderful week!
I haven't seen anybody else show Amboy Dukes either. They are missing out on a killer album. 🤗❤️ The closest record store is an hour and a half away and as a woman, I don't feel safe getting up and driving in the middle of the night. So far, I have never missed out on something that I couldn't get later on. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your week. ❤️🤗
Great stuff! But I'm with Michael Fremer that vinyl doesn't wear if it's kept clean and played on light tracking cartridges and played properly! These things are tuff heirlooms! I've bought quite a few old records I'm sure were played on changers over and over and still sound "decent"! I've seen your equipment, you have nothing to worry about with wear! 😊
You're probably right. My stylus shouldn't hurt a record. I do enjoy playing different versions although I will probably never wear one copy out. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
What a coincidence I was just streaming tubular bells last night and was considering getting it on vinyl. I have a multichannel version of Dark Side of the Moon on SACD that is mind blowing but I do not have a vinyl version. I love that poster. Always enjoy your reviews and suggestions take care Melinda!
I have the SACD too. I have a great collection of SACDs. Some are single layer, some are double layer. You know the ones with a regular CD 💿 or it. I should play them more. I have the Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick dual disc. It sounds wonderful.
Yes! Let It Be Naked would be an awesome RSD release. And now with the Get Back Doc Series from 2 years ago and the Let It Be movie coming. Maybe for RSD Black Friday... But maybe with a little twist, by including the coda to the Get Back song and expanding the miserable 20 minutes of the second disc. Great idea Melinda!
The 20 minute 2nd CD on LIBN was the equivalent of the bonus "Fly On The Wall" single /EP that came with the LP and that ran at 33. Not too dissimilar to what they did with the 12" EP equivalent on the remixed Let It Be CD box. They could have included those 4 tracks onto another disc instead. Actually the 'Fly' contents could have been put at the end of the main LIBN CD too.
Glad you were able to get what you were looking for. I need to check out Amboy Dukes. The Records Store Day Beatles release I thought you were going to recommend was the butcher cover version of Yesterday . . . and Today. You look good in the T-shirt.
My RSD finds. I picked up John Lennon Mind Games Release which is a glow in the Dark Vinyl, David Bowie EP The Next Day Extra, A Yardbirds Five Live LP in Red Vinyl that has live performances from 1964 that has never been rereleased and available until now
She’s bought records from a store I frequent…McKay’s in Nashville, at least I assume Nashville because there are others and a new one opening somewhere.
I was hoping you would get that Beatles turntable. I found the record I wanted online which was the bottle rockets the Brooklyn side which has never been on vinyl and was too hard to find years ago. I had borrowed a friend’s cd so I remember it but it has been years since I heard it and I’m looking forward to getting it soon. I have last year’s rsd by them too. That Pink Floyd sure looks cool. I kinda wanted that Eric Carr box but I saved my money instead. Thanks Melinda. God Bless You and Your Family.❤
In case you are wondering, Tinted Windows, who originally released this lone album in 2009, consisted of Bun E Carlos (drums, Cheap Trick), James Iha (guitar, Smashing Pumpkins), the late Adam Schesinger (bass, Fountains of Wayne & Ivy) & Taylor Hanson (lead vocals, yes him from Hanson), superb classic, timeless, catchy as hell powerpop, still fresh as a daisy, and this red & black split coloured vinyl for RSD has 2 bonus tracks, so a must buy for me, i saw my local Newbury Comics had like 5 copies on Saturday afternoon, so I'm sure there will be some left...
Oh cool. I didn't know that. Some of the releases were so creative and well thought out. They really are releases we wouldn't get at any other time. Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response. Take care. ♥️🤗
Yeah, that Let It Be would've been awesome! The 3 inch thing is a cool novelty, but it's not really something I'm interested in. Awesome for the people that do like the 3 inch stuff though!
I'm so glad you finally acquired an original copy of Tubular Bells. I have 2 originals and a reissue of the remix (not as good). As for it being associated with that movie, I don't care. I forget about that and enjoy the album on its own merit. It's one of the greatest albums of all time. Enjoy!
Nice finds! I picked up the Bowie, Zappa for President, Parliament Osmium and Todd Rundgren Liars at the store on Saturday and then I picked up the Beefheart Spotlight Kid and Yes Live in 1971 on Discogs at bargain prices. The stores didn't have them. I would pick up Let it Be...Naked at RSD. I have the cd and a local store has a vinyl copy and you guessed it....I think it is $300! I can't do that for that one record. You can't go wrong with Mike Oldfield. I think he is a musical genius and he has a large catalog to choose from. TB was his first solo record and he came out of the gate running! Glad you finally have a copy! Great video and take care!
Great call on the Beatles Let it Be Naked. That’s one I’d love to get on vinyl, but the cost is just too much. I hope they reissue it soon. Rock on Melinda!
I had my sights set on the Let It Be Naked vinyl, until I randomly stumbled upon a minty CD copy of it at Goodwill, at which time I decided, if only just for now, to be content with that version of it 😎
Hi Melinda ! William Friedkin who Directed The Exorcist is my favorite Director & I prefer The French Connection , To Live & Die In LA & Sorcerer over it. Tangerine 🍊 Dream do an excellent soundtrack to Sorcerer a remake of a French film The Wages Of Fear. RSD was great & stores were busy ! So happy for the independent retailers 😊
I'll have to check out more of Friedkin's work. The Exorcist must have been extremely disturbing in its time. The storyline is still frightening. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I got the Pink Floyd 50th too, my second version of it and I'm happy with it. From RSD I got the Buena Vista Social Club album which is a very nice version and Nine Horses from David Sylvian. That is a stellar album and pressing. I think it was a UK release, but it was available in The Netherlands. Don't think it reached the US, but maybe a regular version will in time.
You know Melinda, although I don't really listen to much of the same music as you do or collect the same vinyl as you do, I still love watching your videos because you have such a warm, calm and welcoming feeling to the way you talk and the stories you tell, and are clearly very passionate about this stuff. I've been collecting records again only for a handful of months so far and the collection is growing much faster than I intended 😅 went from 1 to 31 records in a month and a half.
Thank you so much for the kind words. 🤗♥️ I appreciate the encouragement so much. I understand how quickly a record collection can grow. I have been there. Lol. That's part of the fun. Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response. Take care.
I got there at 3 am and hung with same people i did last year. They were first 5 in line and brought the 87 Vw hippy camping van with pop up top tent sleeping area with fridge, stove and record player and all. I was 6th in line. By the time store opened it was about 100 or so people in line. I got the 2 i wanted. The Orca Soundtrack by Morricone and the Lost in Translation Soundtrack. I went that early because they only got 2 of the Orca.
The opening and closing themes to the Orca soundtrack are some of the best music melodies/ orchestration from any soundtrack I've ever heard... it's mind blowing how incredible it is!!!
On my podcast we were discussing how many Dark Side albums does a person need. lol. Yes I bought it and now all these other classic rock group can do this same thing with their albums and charge you for two, just you wait and see. I have no understanding on the Beatles 3”, would you actually listen to that over a record? Another open door for more RSD 3” releases. I did just trade in my OG of that Amboy Dukes album. Always a pleasure to hang out with you Melinda. All the stuff should be arriving this weekend. I have never seen the Exorcist, I just can’t watch demon possession movies, nope, can’t do it
Yes, we will see more releases like Dark Side and the 3" singles. Lol. I think most people will just display the little turntable and records. I doubt they get played a lot. The takeaway from The Exorcist is that good defeated evil. I couldn't have watched it when I was young. It would have been too much. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Hi Melinda! I agree with your "Let It Be...Naked" comment. That is the only Beatles album that I do not own on vinyl and I'm patiently waiting for a reissue. I refuse to pay $200 for a copy on eBay. Did Capitol ever release a vinyl edition in the USA? All of the ones I'm aware of are imports. On RSD, I picked up John Lennon's Mind Games EP in glow-in-the-dark vinyl, Ringo's Crooked Boy in B&W marble vinyl, George Harrison's Wonderwall and Electronic Sound picture discs; and The Doors live in Konserthuset, Stockholm on blue vinyl. Oh, and Ommadawn is another good Mike Oldfield album.
I don't think Capital ever released Let It Be Naked. The originals are way too expensive. You picked up some great records including The Doors. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
You are SO ON IT with Let It Be Naked. I remember getting the CD back in 2003. Yes we need this released wide. I like it better than the Spector version and plus Don't Let Me Down is on it. The Dark Side Of The Moon you got is beautiful!
Hi friend. I totally agree about Naked. Would love to see a new release of the vinyl. I have it on a CD but I want it on vinyl. Wahhhhh. I have the 30th anniversary of DSOTM, but still got the new version because I have no restraint. I did pick up on RSD: Caribou, Bowie, Foghat, Talking Heads, G Love, Television, Chris Isaac, Cranberries, and Poppin’ in Paris the next day on line from In Groove. And yes, I settled for the Beatles box, even though I probably won’t open it. Again, no self control (like the Eddie Money song). Thanks for the video.
About the Bowie: The Bowie estate owns the albums that used to be on RCA and licenses them to Parlophone/Warners. The label design replacing the label logo "RCA" with the stylized name "Bowie" was the decision of those who put together this compilation, which is basically a version of Ziggy Stardust that didn't make the cut. The songs that were not on Ziggy have been released elsewhere, and the versions of the songs from Ziggy are the same as the original album. Hard pass for me, I prefer the original. Nice that you enjoyed it, though.
Hi Melinda. Like you, I didn't want to stand in a queue. It was 2 degrees C in Munich on Saturday morning. I got to Optimal Records an hour after it had opened. I got the Rolling Stones first album, Marianne Faithfull "Faithful Forever", Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas "Songs to No One", also the Amboy Dukes album. On Monday I went to Ludwig Beck and pucked up Scott Walker "Tilt" and the Flirtations album which was an impulse buy. Also my number one want, a 7 inch box set of various artists covering Nick Drake songs. Beautifully presented, that was really lucky. I could have got a bit more, but had to rein it in. Glad you managed to get the David Bowie album, it sold out everywhere here. Take care.
You got a nice haul of records. The closest store that I go to is so far away. That's why I was so late. It turned out great though. Thank you and take care.
I managed to pick up Laufey and the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, A Night At The Symphony, and the Motley Crue EP. The Laufey album really surprised me, especially as it was recorded live.
Hi Melinda, I agree about the Beatles suggestion - but they shouldn't make it an RSD release. Just reissue it for a normal price so we can all buy it. I went to my local store at 530am (they opened at 7am) and I was surprised to see how many people were ahead of me in line. I still managed to get the 6 albums I wanted - Bowie, Stones (live at the Racket NYC), Mark Knopfler, U2, Def Leppard and Buena Vista Social Club. Thanks for the video, and we'll see you next week!
Melinda...since you like Tubular Bells, I highly recommend you check out Mike's next two albums...Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn. Both are masterpieces as well.
Hi Melinda. Thank you for the RSD video. I attended RSD at my local Indie record store. I arrived an hour after opening. I had a fairly decent RSD. However, the prices Ye Gods and Holy fishes were crazy. I spent in total £300 Sterling. I picked up a hard dozen albums amongst which included Bill Evans Trio “Everybody Digs Bill Evans”, also both the Cannonball Adderley Albums “Burning in Bordeaux” Number 292/2950 and “Poppin’ in Paris” Number 1293/2950. Another album I got was Chet Baker & Jack Sheldon “In Perfect Harmony” Number 0985/4000. Together as I David I got 6 albums in total of RSD releases. I also purchased a couple of other albums which were not RSD releases, including Mark Knopfler “One Deep River”. Well pleased to get that album. The radio station I listen to have played some of the tracks from this album I enjoyed what I heard so I was pleased to get it. I already have Tubular Bells purchased years ago lol. Enjoyed the video. Take care Melinda. Regards Dave.
The prices were pretty high. I would have picked up The Stones concert but the price was very high for only 8 songs. I wish I could have had the Chet Baker record. I have heard it's great. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Hello Melinda. Well my record store day was great! I picked up The Yardbirds psycho daisies B-side album. Elton John Caribou deluxe.. The Doors live in Sweden 1968. I picked it up on CD. Captain Beefheart The Spotlight Kid. John Lennon Mind games EP . Yes live 1971 and The Beatles should have put out Let It Be Naked out for RSD . So hopefully my record store restock The RSD titles soon so I can pick up the rest. Or I will go on Line and get them. Looks like you had a great RSD hull Melinda ! Enjoy your albums!!
Wow! I would have picked up the Elton John album if I had arrived earlier. That was a nice one! The Yardbirds was also a cool release. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
As always, a thrill to watch! Having just written a book about progressive rock, I welcomed your comments on Pink Floyd and Mike Oldfield! Thanks for your opinions: they are always a "no nonsense, much fun" option! I agree with your comments on the 30th anniv edition of Pink Floyd's DSOTM. I found a sealed copy of it at a local thrift store for $2.99 and couldn't believe my eyes! Needless to say, it came home with me and has been by my side since.
I know all of us who listen to vinyl like to get multiple copies of our favorite album so not to wear out the best copy we own. Over the years I have also done this this, but anymore I just listen to me favorite copy that is NM/EX condition. We aren't getting any younger, and also our hearing changes as we get older. In this segment Melinda you mention that you don't want to play your Dark Side Of The Moon 30th Anniversary copy because of wear. Listen to it and enjoy it! You have an awesome sound system and I'm sure your turntable won't wear out the album that fast! Maybe I feel this way because I am quite a bit older now, but I just want to hear the best copy I have before I can't enjoy it as much as I did when I was younger.
I listen 🎧 to a lot of current music. So, I usually buy the vinyl, and CD 💿. I usually play the CD version more. I do buy, a couple different variants sometimes. I think 💭 you probably can guess what artist 🧑🎨 I’m talking about. I do this for I can keep one variant sealed. Play the other one that’s usually the standard version.
You're not wrong. I'm getting older too. I will always play my 30th anniversary copy when I am just sitting there listening. When I am up and around the house, I will play this other copy. Life is too short to not play the best album. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda, i was watching a tv show from UK last nite. And something was shown i didn't know. The Abbey road album photo on the crosswalk was a last minute idea. The original idea would have been too expensive . So they decided to walk outside and do it there. All the best to you from the South Pole. ( pretty close )😊
Yes, I can only imagine how scary that movie was when it was first released. Thankfully, I knew enough details about it that I was prepared. Thank you and take care., 🤗❤️
Hi Melissa, I passed this year because I found a decent copy of the German Magical Mystery Tour in true stereo....and Let it Be Naked would be cool on vinyl....have fun now!!!
Hello Melinda ! I’m so glad that you got Tubular bells , and that you liked it. Mike Oldfield is my favourite artist , and is the only one I have an ”unhealthy” collecting habit with. I’ve got everything ever released on vinyl. And I DO mean everything. 7” , 12” , maxi singels , bootlegs , anniversary released , collections and I even got the 12” single sided ”Opening ceremony music for the 2012 Olympic games” , limited to 500 Numbers copies. This RSD I got his ”1974 Hergest Ridge demo”. (among a bunch of others) Take care /R (A at work)
You were "the" person I thought about the most when I finally listened to this record. I completely understand the love. You can rest easy, I finally have it. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy : Thank you for your kind words. In response , you’ve made me interested in jazz music in your videos. This is what I love about the vinyl community online : getting pointers in directions you’ve never thought of yourself. A says ”Hi” from the kitchen. Be well. /R
I've got a 70s Japanese LP of DSotM, and an SACD with the 5.1 mix, I'm good with that album! Tired of seeing the same old warhorses get rehashed over and over again when other deserving titles are neglected or released in substandard copies.
I just purchased the 30th anniversary of DSTM. I spent a pretty penny on it and have been sweating how much I spent lol. Can't wait to get it in and listen to it.
In my opinion, it's worth the splurge. It sounds absolutely amazing. I asked for a discount when I bought it at a record store in Colorado. The owner said "no, this is going to blow you away and it's worth every penny I'm charging." He was right. 🔥❤️ Congrats! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Take care.
Terrific video, Melinda! If I may make an unsolicited recommendation? The AP Atlantic 75 double 45 RPM of Abandoned Luncheonette by Hall and Oates sounds phenomenal. Many of my friends and I agree it's equal to just about any UHQR or MFSL One Step we've ever heard. "She's Gone" sounds so live, I'm convinced my girlfriend actually just left me even though she's sitting right beside me. You won't be disappointed! :-)
Great record store day pickups I know you have a great time that Saturday on rsd I love pink floyd dark side of the moon classic of all classics they always remastered that album so much on vinyl and cd as well amazing video keep up the great work take care and have a blessed Tuesday one love
I didn’t camp out overnight nor was I in line before they opened at 8:00 am on RSD Saturday morning. I just didn’t want to wait for hours in line outside in the cold. I’m getting too old for that. However on a whim, I drove downtown around 10:00 am and the line seemed short enough. I got in line for 45 minutes outside. I could handle that. I assumed that most of the exclusive records I wanted would be gone. I was surprised to find they still had all of them that I really wanted except for the one Jim Croce final tour live album that I’ll search for on the aftermarket. The big surprise was finding this limited edition David Bowie "Waiting in the Sky" exclusive release album for $25 that was already selling on eBay for over $100 on Saturday. I also picked up two Yardbirds albums with Eric Clapton, a blues album from 1963 with Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Memphis Slim, and Sonny Boy Williamson, and a previously released Ringo Starr album from a past RSD. Pretty good haul. I'm still looking for the Jim Croce Final Tour Live album, but it is going for $100 to $200 on Discogs and eBay right now. Outrageous.
You did really well. The Jim Croce record must have been very popular. If I had seen it, I would have picked it up. The Bowie record is great. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Great finds , Melinda David Bowie album I wish I would’ve found that one and I couldn’t agree with you more on the Beatles. Let it be naked album I have that album and honestly it is the best sounding Beatles album in my collection. I don’t have a huge Beatles collection, but nonetheless, it sounds amazing. Thank you Melinda!!!
I hope you will find the Bowie album. It's a great companion album to Ziggy Stardust. You did score some great albums though. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
Getting up at 3am reminds me of going ice fishing with my dad. Dark and cold. Don't have to stand in line though. Anyway, I was helping my daughter house shop. Family "trumps" vinyl. Thanks.
I agree. Family is way more important. We have also been helping our daughter get a new apartment. She will be moving soon. Best wishes to you and your family. Take care. ❤️🤗
Definitely recommend it, just got Hergest Rige demo vinyl at RSD, really good but if you like Mike Oldfield, look out for Return to Ommadawn, excellent, put it on n close your eyes and drift .
I think they should have done the 60th anniversary of The Beatles - A Hard Day’s Night but maybe Giles Martin is working on that one for later in the year. Let It Be Naked would’ve been cool too. Take care Melinda I love your hair!
Great finds! I was able to get everything that I selected. That being said, maybe if it was warmer, or if I wore a coat and gloves, I could of looked through the list more thoroughly. It was snowing! I got the Malfunkshun album, Gandalf, The Doors live in Sweden, Lost in Translation soundtrack, and the Bowie album. Yesterday, after dropping of an amplifier to get cleaned and checked, I stopped by a couple record stores. The prices of the RSD albums were high. On Saturday at the place I go to, they mark down each album. Anyways, I found a grail in a rare record bin. They had a NM Moondog 2 with the inner sleeve from 1971. I also have the first Columbia Moondog release from 1969. The price was half of what I usually see. I’m happy that you got Tubular Bells! I have a first UK pressing of that. I got it on CD on Easter Sunday when I was 13. Interesting huh? Unfortunately, I saw the Exorcist when I was little. Certain doors get opened and they can never be shut! I was raised Catholic at my Mom’s, but when I went to visit my dad every other weekend, it was a different story. Anyways, I know now that Tubular Bells was done before the movie. So I can separate that (sometimes) and focus on the album as a whole. There’s a great documentary on TH-cam about that album.
I can listen to it and not think of The Exorcist that much. But I didn't see that movie as a kid like you did. That must have been terrifying. You picked up a lot of great records. The Doors concert was very tempting. The Bowie album is very good. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
8:32 -GREAT CALL, MELINDA. I thought "Naked" was a bit pricey when it first came out, so I kept walking past it. Then it goes out of print. If it ever is re-released, I will pick it up that time.
I watched videos on the mini Crosley turntable with The Beatles branding. While it would have been a fun addition to my Beatles collection, I wasn't awed by the videos I saw of people unboxing it.
It's very cute and a great collectible for Beatles fans. I do think Let It Be Naked would appeal to more vinyl collectors. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
I bought my records 8am the following day on the internet at Darkside Records. I like them because they don’t charge me tax for whatever reason and free shipping on orders over $75, which is basically two records. Plus they give you some money back to spend on your next purchase. The record stores around my area basically rip me off I think.
Tubular Bells is a wonderful album. I now understand why so many people recommended it. The Amboy Dukes album is wonderful. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Tubular Bells. Nice! Now that you have it you'll need another one I'm afraid. Oh no it never ends 😊. It's "Water Bearer" the debut album by Sally Oldfield, Mike's sister. Some of it seems inspired by JRR Tolkien's Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings). It sounds as if you're walking through a fantasy world, drawing you into it when sitting back and listening to every detail. Like a beautiful dream you can replay whenever you want. But this album is also good as background music.
I don't do RSD (yet) however, I finally got my pre-order (after a long wait) of Sonny Rollins "Live at the Village Vanguard" yesterday from Blue Note Tone Poet. It doesn't disappoint! it is a 3 LP set. Great video, as always!
@@DEE-o4v where we sat during Fashion. The flood lights blinded us during the beep beeps. Bowie towards the end walked over to our area giving us a wave of sorry guys. I'll always remember that.
Funnily enough the only concert I went to with my ex wife , 5 rows from the front , same Sound and Vision tour , brilliant concert. But I think Davy had the hump that night !
Hi Melinda, I picked up the john lennon, george harrison, ringo starr, the doors, bowie & yardbirds. I agree let it be naked would have been a better choice. I've wanted it for a long time.
Rachel ghost channel just bought let it be naked for over 200 dollars. Keep talking about this and they will release lp again. I heard this at the daily three hour plus livestreams❤
Every time I watch your videos I want to use vinyl.... but my disability makes it virtually impossible. (but I have bought the DSOTM clear vinyl LP anyhow 🤦🏼♂😂😂😂😂😂)
Motor City Madman and The Amboy Dukes. I would love to have that album. My band played against the Dukes in the 1967 Artists Music Center " Battle of the Bands". Actually, we didn't make it past the first round. And I never talked to any of them. But I did witness Ted and his mother arguing with the promotor about the line-up because Ted wanted to go last. The promotor gave it to The Woolies. Because they'd won the last BOTB. Ted and his mother were MAD. (I think she was the band's manager.)
Oh wow! What a cool story. 🤗❤️ That would have been so long ago. Ted is an incredible guitar player and this album is excellent. Thank you and take care., ❤️🤗
I've had the CD copy of Tubular Bells ever since it first came out........and like Dark Side of the Moon, it is an experience you have to sit down for. I just nailed "7even year itch", the greatest hits compilation from Collective Soul. Both the Wife and I really dug it, chock full of hits from front to back. It's another Walmart "Limited Edition" in colored vinyl, but you really have to take Walmart's claim of "Limited" with a huge grain of salt.
Hi Melinda... Future Beatles record store day releases would be good if they reissued The Beatles Yesterday and Today with the Butcher cover and the original "Dexterisation", or A Collection of Beatles Oldies but Goldies
Nice pickups !!! Only album I found on RSD on my list was Zappa. Had Bowie and Chris Isaak on my list too but no luck. Tubular Bells is a great album but I think Ommadawn is his best album. Have a great day.
Well done Melinda, all fantastic pick-ups!! 'Waiting In the Night' is to David Bowie, what 'Let It Be Naked' is to The Beatles...a MUST have!! I was rapt to pick up the new Doors Live in Konserthuset, Stockholm 1968 (on triple translucent blue vinyl) ...it was my "target" release, and, I GOT IT!! So happy! 🤗👍
I'm glad you got your first pick. I have heard it's a great concert. I am so happy with the Bowie release. ❤️🤗 I'm glad to have it. Thank you and take care.
The Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells is phenomenal I also have exposed. It's a live album with the whole album on it. I'm so glad you got rsd titles you wanted. I got the America and Alan Parsons Project but there's more I want. Take care.❤.
This year’s RSD had a lot of great titles but just too many live recordings, which I don’t love. That didn’t stop me from still spending on some good stuff though! John Lennon - Mind Games, Mingus - Reincarnation, Pearl Jam - Dark Matter, Elton John - Caribou, Willie Nelson - Phases & Stages. And yes…I would love to get a reissue of Naked. I just don’t understand those 3” records. 🤦🏻♀️
Didn’t get anything on Recore day as I didn’t have a chance, but now you’ve got tubular bells you need for 50th anniversary edition it’s a lot more detailed and it’s half master speed
Hey Melinda, it looks like you got some good albums I never heard of that Bowie album, I love Ziggy Stardust. I was listening to the BBC version with moonlight daydream , Amboy Dukes sounds cool, also the let it be naked sounds good 😊. Look how young Ted was.
I've played that DSOTM "picture disc" and it sounds very good indeed (its so quiet!), I also have the 30th version and it compares very favourably - really not that much in it played on my modest equipment. Its a beautiful record too and every PF fan should get one while they can. And as you say it a good intro for someone who doesn't own any DSOTM on vinyl. I paid about £65 and its a good investment, I predict it being in 3 figures in a couple of years - not that I buy to sell or make money. A bit off topic now, but I'd like to get your take on Taylor Swift's new album one day.
The new Dark Side is pretty good. I wasn't disappointed and the records are gorgeous. The 30th anniversary version is still my favorite but this is a good way to go. If I listen to the new Taylor Swift record, I will share my thoughts. So far, the reviews are a little mixed. Thank you and take care.
The store I went to had only 30 Lps left over from RSD the day after. They were a few more $$ over comps, but not as much as all the high prices online. So I bought nothing RSD, just a Smiths LP Reissue. Someone found a decent DSOTM copy at a Goodwill and I found an empty cover. I happened to find the record in another part of the store and spent only $1.29 last year.
I saw Tubular Bells a couple weeks ago! I almost bought it, but the vinyl looked awful. You should check out the Making of the Exorcist. Very interesting!!!
hi melinda, glad you had success at RSD. I didnt get what i really wanted (Death cab for cutie Live @ showbox) but while i was shopping i was thinking should i just buy some of these pressings that i see that i know will be gone and going for 2x 3x or more on the secondary market. In the end i did not decide to buy or flip and i was almost dissapointed at myself for even thinking to do so. Its a touchy subject for sure (flipping) anyway enjoy your video as always and as always the curls are on point! Cheers. Brian in NC
I understand! It would be a tempting way to make a few dollars and pay for your hobby. I haven't done it but I do understand why others do. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I totally agree with you on the Bowie RSD. I already have the naked Beatles vinyl, I want the Butcher Cover as a RSD reissue with a good quality pic of Butcher Cover.
A version of the butcher cover would be a cool release. 🤗❤️ They should do both. Thank you and take care.
Nice group of RSD pick ups, and the Pink Floyd 50th anniversary reissues look very cool. RSD this year was a blast, so much fun watching our hobby grow. Thanks as always for sharing, have a great week!
I got a late start but I enjoyed RSD as well. ❤️🤗 Thank you Mike!
Wow, after a morning of watching some negative YT videos this one was such a breath of sunshine! It was so nice seeing you enthusiastic and smiling and show and telling your haul. Keep the positive vibes coming! Love ya, Melinda! -Glen
Wow! Thank you very much. 🤗❤️ I appreciate the encouragement. Have a great day!
Great call on a reissue of Let It Be Naked - one of my favorite Beatles releases for sure. And on Discogs - 6,000 have it and 2,800 people want it, making it one of the most-wanted Beatles album on Discogs, even over any of the 2012 Beatles Mono pressings.
It would be such a no-brainer. That would be a great RSD release. Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response. Take care.
Ooo Tubular Bells - side 1 is 25 mins of perfection- all together now “grand piano” “slightly distorted guitar” “mandolin!” Etc good old viv stanshall
I agree! A beautiful listen. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
viv uncut s few months ago hsd a good interview
Really great pick ups! I ended up getting the Bowie record and the Ramones. Unfortunately my local store did not get very much inventory. But it was still a great RSD.
I'm glad you were able to get two of your top picks. The Bowie album is great. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Solo Beatles always been my favorites❤
I enjoy their solo work too, especially Paul. Thank you and take care.
I live in Louisville, and a few months ago I went to Bowling Green for a visit and stopped by Hard Copies and picked up a Jimmy Smith Blue note. Petty cool record store.
Very cool! The t-shirt selection is extremely impressive and Doug, the owner, is so nice. 🤗♥️ Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response.
@@MelindaMurphy That is so awesome he still has his business. Hope you and family are having a great weekend! 😃♥
I would have been standing in line in the cold for a chance to get Let It Be Naked. "I've Got a Feeling" has moved up my list in recent years of best Beatles songs. Paul has done it on his last two American tours.
Yes, I think Let It Be Naked would be a huge success. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
The Bowie does sound incredible. Parlaphone have been doing half speed masters from ziggy up to diamond dogs. The aladdin sane in particular sounds incredible.
I'm extremely happy with this release. ❤️🔥 Thank you and take care.
Velvet Goldmine is my favorite of the unreleased tracks as well. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
Really great video, Melinda, as usual…I really enjoy these.
Thank you very much! ❤️🤗
Glad you got some titles you wanted....(cool shirt!) Thanks for the shout out
Thank you Harry. I'm glad you got the Beatles turntable. It's so cute and will look great on display. ❤️🤗 Take care.
YES! Let It Be Naked would be a great choice! I would get up even earlier than I normally do for that one. I would also suggest “A Different Kind Of Truth” by Van Halen as an RSD release
Both would be fantastic RSD releases. 🔥 Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response. 🤗♥️
Enjoyed the video Melinda. Take care
Thank you very much! I'm so sorry this response is so late. Take care. ♥️🤗
I wish they would reissue Let It Be Naked. It would be a huge seller and you're right, now is the time. Thank you and take care.
I understand. You were able to get much needed sleep and still got an incredible record. The DSOTM is very cool as well. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
SuperCool upload & T-shirt,Melinda!!!!
Thank you very much. ♥️🤗
@@MelindaMurphy Welcome.❤🤗
What a coincidence I was just streaming tubular bells last night and was considering getting it on vinyl. I have a multichannel version of Dark Side of the Moon on SACD that is mind blowing but I do not have a vinyl version. I love that poster. Always enjoy your reviews and suggestions take care Melinda!
It really does sound great on vinyl. If you can find a clean copy, pick it up. You won't regret it. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
That would be awesome! I wish you were in charge.❤️🤗Thank you and take care.
Thank you for the compliment. A new version of the old butcher cover would be a fun release. Maybe someday. ♥️🤗 Thank you and take care.
My RSD finds. I picked up John Lennon Mind Games Release which is a glow in the Dark Vinyl, David Bowie EP The Next Day Extra, A Yardbirds Five Live LP in Red Vinyl that has live performances from 1964 that has never been rereleased and available until now
Very cool. I'm assuming the Bowie EP was from a past RSD? It's hard to go wrong with Bowie. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
Cool. You’re in KY too. I’m from the Henderson area.
We are very close to each other. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
I didn't need that Beatles turntable but if there was one left when I got there, I would have bought it. Lol. Thank you and Gold bless you. 🤗❤️
Let It Be Naked would be a huge RSD release. We could all hope. 🥰 Thank you and take care.
Yeah 3" ain't satisfying anyone.
I'm so glad you finally acquired an original copy of Tubular Bells. I have 2 originals and a reissue of the remix (not as good). As for it being associated with that movie, I don't care. I forget about that and enjoy the album on its own merit. It's one of the greatest albums of all time.
Enjoy!
The album is enjoyable regardless. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
You picked up some very good records. ❤️🤗 Well done.
I agree, Mike Oldfield is brilliant. What a wonderful record. Thank you and take care.
Great call on the Beatles Let it Be Naked. That’s one I’d love to get on vinyl, but the cost is just too much. I hope they reissue it soon. Rock on Melinda!
I think it would make a lot of people very happy. This release on the secondary market is so expensive now. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I love the Book of Love version of Tubular Bells. I have a 14 minute version of it. Very good version.
I had my sights set on the Let It Be Naked vinyl, until I randomly stumbled upon a minty CD copy of it at Goodwill, at which time I decided, if only just for now, to be content with that version of it 😎
The CD is a great way to have that album. The vinyl has increased in price way too much. That's why we need a reissue. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Very nice! I'm so glad you got what you wanted. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Oh wow! It sounds like you made the most out of it. Very cool. I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
The opening and closing themes to the Orca soundtrack are some of the best music melodies/ orchestration from any soundtrack I've ever heard... it's mind blowing how incredible it is!!!
Nice video Melinda. I agree on the Beatles release. I passed over the 3 inch, but would have grabbed ‘Let It Be: Naked’. 👍
The turntables are so cute but I think a lot of people would have grabbed Let It Be Naked in larger quantities. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Let It Be Naked would be a huge hit for RSD. If only they listened to us. 🤔 Lol. Thank you and take care.
There is a fiftieth anniversary of the Tubular Bells album... I enjoy your videos.
Someone else mentioned the reissue. I hope it sounds good like the original. 🤗❤️ Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
Your Beatles story is a lot like Morrissey: "You Are the Quarry" which would be a magical release!
That would be nice! 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
You picked up some great RSD titles. ❤️ The Let It Be Naked record would be a huge seller. Let's hope. Thank you and take care.
Nothing can beat the original. This makes a nice companion piece though. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Very cool. I did see the Motley Crue picture disc at the store. I was tempted. 🤗 Thank you and take care.
As long as it gets reissues, that's all that matters. I'm glad you were able to get everything you wanted. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
Melinda...since you like Tubular Bells, I highly recommend you check out Mike's next two albums...Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn. Both are masterpieces as well.
Thank you for the recommendations. I will have to check them out. 🔥❤️ Take care.
Slight amendment. Hard dozen should read half dozen apologies for error Dave.
Wow! That might be the best thrift haul find of all time. 🥰 Nice! Thank you and enjoy your day.
@@MelindaMurphy Totally agree.
Pretty amazing! It's probably the most iconic album cover of all time and it was a last minute thought. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
friedkin was a great director. that Tubular bells exorcist theme scared the shit out of me lol . great pickups beautiful melinda and great video 👍👌
Yes, I can only imagine how scary that movie was when it was first released. Thankfully, I knew enough details about it that I was prepared. Thank you and take care., 🤗❤️
@MelindaMurphy I see the exorcist from Time to time. not every week lol
Hi Melissa, I passed this year because I found a decent copy of the German Magical Mystery Tour in true stereo....and Let it Be Naked would be cool on vinyl....have fun now!!!
The German pressing of MMT is awesome!!! Very nice. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy oops...I called you by the wrong name...sorry Melinda....
(among a bunch of others)
Take care /R (A at work)
You were "the" person I thought about the most when I finally listened to this record.
I agree with your point. There are so many records that need a good reissue. ♥️🤗 Thank you and I apologize for the delayed response. Take care.
Take care.
@MelindaMurphy thank you for the reassurance. I'm excited to get it and give her a spin. It's a near mint copy so should be nice and quiet.
Oh wow! Ok, I will have to buy that. ❤️🤗 Thank you for the recommendation. Take care.
Great record store day pickups I know you have a great time that Saturday on rsd I love pink floyd dark side of the moon classic of all classics they always remastered that album so much on vinyl and cd as well amazing video keep up the great work take care and have a blessed Tuesday one love
Dark Side is a classic. This is a fantastic version. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
Take care. ❤️🤗
Try 50th Anniversary of Tubular Bells, recommended 👌
Thank you for the recommendation. I was wondering if it was a good pressing. 🤗❤️
Thank you for the kind compliment. ❤️🤗 A Hard Days Night would have been a great release as well. Thank you and take care.
Yes.The Exorcist thing came later. The Producers/Director ditched the original completed soundtrack and adopted this unknown English guy.
8:32 -GREAT CALL, MELINDA. I thought "Naked" was a bit pricey when it first came out, so I kept walking past it. Then it goes out of print. If it ever is re-released, I will pick it up that time.
same here
It definitely needs a reissue. RSD would be the perfect way but they would need to press a lot of them. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Wow! That's awesome! Good for you. 🤗❤️
Good morning, nice catch on the Amboy Dukes. I bought the Tubular back in the 70's. Mike Oldfield is under rated.
Oh wow! I'm intrigued. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
I don't do RSD (yet) however, I finally got my pre-order (after a long wait) of Sonny Rollins "Live at the Village Vanguard" yesterday from Blue Note Tone Poet. It doesn't disappoint! it is a 3 LP set. Great video, as always!
Nice! I am so behind on my Blue Note pick ups. Sonny Rollins is fantastic. 🔥 Thank you and take care.
David Bowie my favorite concert ever. 1990 Sound + Vision tour. My wife is still jealous she never saw him.
I wish I had seen him. ❤️🤗Lucky you! Thank you and take care.
I saw him 3 times....and yes, I did see the 1990 S&V tour.....it WAS incredible. By the way 3 times....was NOT enough.
Great list! The George Harrison releases were so unique. 🤗🔥 Thank you and take care.
Rachel ghost channel just bought let it be naked for over 200 dollars. Keep talking about this and they will release lp again. I heard this at the daily three hour plus livestreams❤
Oh wow! Rachel has been wanting that record for a long time. That's wonderful. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Every time I watch your videos I want to use vinyl.... but my disability makes it virtually impossible. (but I have bought the DSOTM clear vinyl LP anyhow 🤦🏼♂😂😂😂😂😂)
The 20th anniversary version is THE best
It's beautiful if only just to look at. 🤗❤️ Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy But you MUST get 'DSOTM: Live at Wembley'.
I agree. Tubular Bells is a great sit down and listen record. ❤️ Nice Collective Soul pick up! Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda... Future Beatles record store day releases would be good if they reissued The Beatles Yesterday and Today with the Butcher cover and the original "Dexterisation", or A Collection of Beatles Oldies but Goldies
That would be a cool release. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
I loved the Bowie cover.
That just goes to show we all have different opinions. Obviously, most people do like it or they wouldn't have chosen it. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
Nice pickups !!! Only album I found on RSD on my list was Zappa. Had Bowie and Chris Isaak on my list too but no luck. Tubular Bells is a great album but I think Ommadawn is his best album. Have a great day.
I didn't pick up the Chris Isaak record either. 🥲 I'm glad you got the Zappa record. It was probably very popular. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
The best Dark Side of the Moon pressing I have heard is the “-2” German pressing. It sounds amazing.
Wow! That would be great! 🔥❤️ Thank you and take care.
The Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells is phenomenal I also have exposed. It's a live album with the whole album on it. I'm so glad you got rsd titles you wanted. I got the America and Alan Parsons Project but there's more I want. Take care.❤.
That's awesome Mike! Hopefully, you didn't have to stand in the cold this year. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
You picked up some great ones! That Elton John record would have been nice!!! Thank you and take care. 🔥🤗
Didn’t get anything on Recore day as I didn’t have a chance, but now you’ve got tubular bells you need for 50th anniversary edition it’s a lot more detailed and it’s half master speed
Several people have recommended the 50th anniversary version. It must be very good. 🤗♥️ Thank you for the suggestion. Take care.
Hey Melinda, it looks like you got some good albums I never heard of that Bowie album, I love Ziggy Stardust. I was listening to the BBC version with moonlight daydream , Amboy Dukes sounds cool, also the let it be naked sounds good 😊. Look how young Ted was.
Ted was just a baby. Lol. They were both great releases. I'm so glad to have them. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
You should check out Dark Side of The Mule, recorded live in Boston, 2008. Tasty!
I love it !!
Lol. Thank you for the suggestion. Take care. ❤️🤗
Oh wow! Finding Dark Side at a Goodwill is crazy. ❤️❤️❤️ The Smith's reissue was a great purchase as well. Thank you and take care.
The artwork on Tubular Bells looks more like Tubular Pretzels. *haha*... ok, great video !
Haha! Very true! Thank you and take care.
Ugh I was so wanting Collective Soul Dosage and called all over the nation but could not find one, I’m hoping they will put out a re-release soon😎🤘
I hope it does get another reissue for you. This RSD was very popular. The stores sold a lot of records. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
Melinda,do you ever attend AXPONA in Chicago?Great Audio show!
Yes. I was there. The last episode I put out was all about the experience. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
I saw Tubular Bells a couple weeks ago! I almost bought it, but the vinyl looked awful.
You should check out the Making of the Exorcist. Very interesting!!!
I would love to see Making of the Exorcist. 🤗 Tubular Bells is a well played record. It's good to have a clean copy. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
hi melinda, glad you had success at RSD.
